WND Exclusive: Mychal Massie urges first lady to forego undergarment spending sprees
Let me be as forthright as possible in my rejection of Obama’s screed. The United States is not in debt, nor are we, as such, in need of more money, because people aren’t paying their fair share. It’s because Obama and Congress have refused to cut spending. And gutting the military as a means to appease his socialist base is not synonymous with spending reductions, but that’s a subject for another day.
Congress has been on an uncontrolled spending spree for the last 50 years, and Obama has exacerbated that problem by increased spending in a way that was heretofore unparalleled, even if not unimagined.
You’ve heard it said before, but if every so-called rich person in America turned over the last penny of their income and savings to the federal government, it wouldn’t make a dent in the deficit, and it wouldn’t halt or curtail the spending of Obama and the Congress.
Internal White House polling and focus groups told Obama the verbiage he needed to use in his State of the Union speech. As I recently wrote in “My Daily Rant” column entitled “Obama Didn’t Mention This Buffett/Soros Factoid Last Night”: “Obama’s speechwriters handed [him] a speech that, as Byron Tau pointed out at Politico.com … was … rated at an eighth-grade comprehension level on the Flesch-Kincaid readability test – the third-lowest score of any SOTU address since 1934.” (mychal-massie.com/premium/; Jan. 25, 2012)
Carefully consider what I am saying, in conjunction with the research conducted by Byron Tau. America is standing on the very precipice of financial collapse under the weight of debt and spending. And Obama ordered polling and focus group studies that told him that a speech on an eighth-grade level was needed if his lies were to be believed by a sufficient enough segment of the population. Think about that – Obama purposefully gave a speech that was designed to foment resentment and immiseration in those he believed easiest to convince.
Specific to Tau’s findings, I would like to address the issue of hostility toward the so-called rich by offering a few common-sense approaches pursuant to bringing more money into government coffers. Hopefully they’re on a level the eighth-grade populace Obama was appealing to can understand.
The first place to start, as one of my Twitter followers suggested, is with Obama and his family. Why do the Obamas need a salary? Everything they need is provided at taxpayer expense: They receive housing, meals, health care, travel expenses, clothing, etc. They want for nothing. Their children attend the finest academy in the Potomac area. Think of the message it would send to suffering Americans, if he were to work for $1 a year, just as many business leaders do.
Think about the message it would send if Michelle Obama surrendered her $15,000-per-day makeup person, her $11,000 hoop earrings, $2,000 skirts, multi-thousand dollar sun skirts and dresses, $40,000 bracelets and Roger Vivier shoes (maker of the most expensive shoes in the world). Think of the message she would send if she practiced the same temperance she preaches when it comes to her extravagant dinners, lavish multi-million dollar vacations, and the presidential jet for herself and her friends, as well as the family dog. Would the public think less of her if she were to forego $50,000 Madison Ave. spending sprees for undergarments just for her?
Let all of her taxpayer-provided shoes and clothing be auctioned off at the end of every year during the Obamas’ time in office. Sarah Palin’s campaign-provided clothing and shoes were auctioned off. If the Obamas want something to keep, let them pay for it from the private incomes or savings they had when they were elected. If Obama’s wife needs a $15,000-a-day makeup person – let Oprah pay for it, since she uses the same guy.
Think of the money they could give back to the government if they practiced what they were preaching.
And let’s not stop there – we should insist on the same for Congress. Congress is not subject to insider-trading laws – I submit they should turn over to the government all monies they’ve made from their privileged advanced stock market knowledge. They should not receive special health plans and special pensions. Let them serve for a similar dollar amount our local boards of supervisors earn. Many locally elected supervisors around the nation serve either for free or for nominal dollars, and they are responsible for managing our municipalities. Most hold full-time jobs to support their families – they don’t leach off the taxpaying public.
If Obama and Congress did something like that, we might find it less offensive when they attack the rich as not paying their fair share. It would also indicate that they are serious about cutting spending overall.

I used to think we had a chance to change things this election but after hearing that Obama has over $200 million and more coming, I don’t know if the Republicians can beat him.We as Americans let this happen a little at a time. Our country doesn’t belong to us anymore. The money that is spent on these elections would surely help with our debt. We are a less than bright country when we give aid to the likes of Egypt, China and Palestine. No one in our government should have a job just because of this aid situation. t We can not afford things that really matter and we are givng money away that we have to borrow. When I was growing up that would have been call just plain stupid. I have not heard anyone but Ron Paul say they would cancel all aid except for Isreal. Someone needs to step up and get wise.Thank you Mychal for all that you do .

Lol, honestly, the last thing I wanted to think about tonight was that nasty woman (Michelle Obama) in conjunction with her undergarments, albeit expensive ones.
Further, I am so sick of seeing this couple’s overexposed faces absolutely everywhere. It is an assault. And then to be told again and again that she is beautiful and fashionable, completely contrary to what all my sense tell me… well, it’s just too much.
And to stay on point, whatever happened to public service? Making big dollars off the public trough is not “public service”, it is just enriching oneself via money gained by threatening the public with prison and death. As we all know, if you don’t pay your taxes, eventually men with guns will enter the picture.
People in government should make less than the general public… that is a true public servant

Mychal, thank you for addressing this issue. In a world where only the Rich and Famous are allowed to Govern, it is ridiculous the money they are paid. The lowest Paid in the House and Senate are 170,000 a year. Which they either put into the bank or better yet invest in what they already know to be a “sure” thing. Each one of these people could live the “Life of the Rich and Famous” without their Government Positions and ridiculous Pay and allowances. What the Founding Fathers of The “United States” wrote the US Constitution to prevent, is exactly what we have in our Government. “Free Money” big money is what being a politician is all about. The 1st Congress and Senate only met for two weeks a year to discuss improvements to the Constitution and were only reimbursed for their time at work. Most didn’t take anything because they felt it their duty to serve their State and Country. The President didn’t even work the whole year, except he was President. All his time was spent at home, improving and operating his Estate and crops. He met with the Congress and Senate during their 2 week meeting. George Washington was a “surveyor” by trade, being a highly intelligent man he read a lot and wrote a lot. He assisted in designing the District of Columbia. He was a Master Mason, he was a Founding Father and he was the 1st President of the newly formed United States. He firmly believed in the US Constitution because up until his time, all of History never had a Republic that was controlled by “We the People” I don’t think the Founding Fathers believed it to last after their life time, by Benjamin Franklins statement to a citizen when asked what they (the People) had been given? “A Republic, if you can keep it.”

Over 20 years ago, I had an argument with our Congressman. Congress was on the verge of granting themselves another pay raise. His reasoning was that they had to have the money because living in Washington D.C., was so expensive. My point was, if they weren’t getting the big money, the cost of living in our nation’s capitol would soon go down. I disagree with your “sharecropper” comparison to the Obamas. I think the typical sharecropper knows the value of a dollar because he has to work so hard for one. The Obamas have never done an honest day’s work in their lives, either one of them. Having always had everything (paid for with other people’s money) handed to them on a silver platter, neither of them has the slightest concept of working for a living. How they manage to inspire loyalty in voters is beyond me. As I said about former POTUS, Clinton; if you don’t trust a person to babysit your pre-teen daughter, why would you trust him to be President?

Doesn’t Congress get a COL raise every year by law? The only way they do not get it is either by personally declining a pay increase or by majority vote in each house. Social Security however gets a COLA if they haven’t totally robbed the trust fund. By the way, theirs is ALWAYS larger than ours.
In all my life (62 years right now) I have never felt this way about the President as I do right now. It was less than 6 months after inauguration that my opinion of him and his admin headed to the dumpster, to put it in terms in keeping with your rules. I believe Michelle is the puppet master and Barry is one of the best puppets ever. Did you see Michelle’s latest magazine cover (More)? What is the wife of the President doing on the cover of a fashion magazine when their ‘people’ as so distressed?!
I have been saying the same thing about government salaries for a very long time. I also believe, correction, I know there wouldn’t be as many life long politicians if it wasn’t so dang profitable. I have never understood why people who are already above middle class, that have all thier needs payed for in taxpayer dollars, need a huge salary. I think they should get paid something for what they do, but I don’t think it needs to be more in one year than some people make in a lifetime.
It looks intriguing enough to to google some more.
20 years ago I was convinced we would never again see any couple more disgusting inhabit the White House or serve in the Oval Office than Bill and Hillary Clinton, and I’ve never been more wrong since I predicted nobody would pay $5.00 for a cup of coffee and passed on buying stock in Starbucks.

Mychal , Who is to say that the Obamas arent planning that very thing when they exit the White House? As you have said many times before , they BOTH act like sharecroppers that just won the lottery , and what a better prize for a poor peasant suddenly aquiring wealth beyond imagine than to abscond with those treasures of china and fine linens ?
If her taste in china and linens are anything like the clothes she wears, I say: GIVE IT TO EM.
We could enforce insider trading laws against Congressmen who profit from the votes they cast and the laws they pass!
kelso: pretend congress is martha stuart or raj rajaratnam…here again people are being lied to and misled and are to blind to realize it…congress left loopholes be enough to drive a truck the size of nebraska through…they can pass the information to their families, employees, friends, relatives and and even their mechanics…so for all of their bluster eric cantor et al are blathering around…it amounts to nothing…the question that should be asked is did they know or realize they were leaving and creating the loopholes…I know what I think…I correct myself…I know darn good and well that they did…
