It took Obama six days to renew his calls for a ban on guns in the aftermath of the movie theater murders in Aurora, Colorado. Following is an excerpt from his comments to the National Urban League: “I, like most Americans, believe that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual the right to bear arms. I think we recognize the traditions of gun ownership that passed on from generation to generation, that hunting and shooting are part of a national heritage, but I also believe that a lot of gun owners would agree that AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers, not in the hands of criminals; that they belong on the battlefield of war, not on the streets of our cities.”
Obama is as driven to undermine our Second Amendment right to own and bear arms as Satan is to have sinners in hell. And let there be no doubt about it–that is the sensus plenior of Obama’s insidious bromide.
Saying that “hunting and shooting are part of a national heritage” he was applying a familiar hypocorism that we are all comfortable with, and then contrasting it in such a way that the unthinking will agree. That said, of course, who wouldn’t agree that AK-47′s do not belong in the hands of criminals? It’s too bad he didn’t make that clear before Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, Jaime Zapata and a couple hundred innocent Mexicans were murdered by the guns his administration was responsible for illegally selling to Mexican drug cartels.
If Obama feels so strong that guns belong in the hands of soldiers not criminals then why weren’t the thousands of assault rifles that were sold to the most violent and dangerous drug cartels in this hemisphere, sold to the Mexican military instead?
Obama is the most mendacious and pernicious, narcissistic megalomaniac ever to occupy elected office in the history of our government. He makes Hugo Chavez appear to be a sane and coherent dictator. But as is always the case Obama is hanged by the words and comments he wasn’t able to have sealed from public view.
If he recognizes “the traditions of gun ownership that passed on from generation to generation” why did he insult small town Pennsylvanians April 6, 2008 when he told a fundraiser: “You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest…people get bitter and cling to guns or religion.” Of course, deeper analyzation of his comment also revealed it was a clever (in his mind) way of disparaging whites.
Katie Pavlich points out: “In law school, [Obama] was mentored by liberal legal scholar Laurence H. Tribe, who at the time was a fervent opponent of gun rights…Tribe recalled, [Obama] was the best student [he] ever had.” (Fast and Furious: Barack Obama’s Bloodiest Scandal And Its Shameless Cover-Up; Pg.16)
[Listen to Mychal's interview with Katie Pavlich here http://mychal-massie.com/premium/live-free-teleforum-with-fast-and-furious-author-katie-pavlich/ ]
In her book Pavlich also notes that in 1994, Obama was on “the board of the Joyce Foundation, a liberal-leaning organization so active in advocating restrictions on gun ownership that it is known as the anti-NRA.” (Pg.16)
She writes: “In 1999 Obama was quoted by the Chicago Defender newspaper at an anti-gun rally proposing a 500 percent increase in federal taxes ‘on the sale of firearm ammunition.’ In 2000, as an Illinois state senator, Obama co-sponsored…[restrictive and punitive legislation limiting the firearms purchases by law-abiding citizens]. (Pg. 16-17)
And if, as he told the National Urban League, he “[recognizes the traditions of gun ownership passed on from generation to generation [and] that hunting and shooting are part of our national heritage”–then why did he “in 2003…vote for a bill banning the private ownership of hunting shotguns, target rifles, and black powder rifles in Illinois[?]” (Pg.17)
February 17, 2009, less than one month after his inauguration, Obama pledged to get all firearms out of the inner cities and it was clearly understood he was not talking about getting them out of the hands of criminals but out of the hands of the law-abiding.
His comment that he believes “a lot of gun owners would agree that AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers, not…criminals…[and] not on the streets of our cities” is pure betise. And it was intended to set up another straw dog. No responsible person would disagree with what he said–at face value.
But there is no way to remove or restrict firearms in America except by taking them from the hands of the law-abiding and enthusiasts. Some would argue that the very fact Obama holds the office he does, proves there is no way to legislate crime out of existence, but I digress. Criminals will always have weapons and they will always commit criminal acts: that’s why they’re called criminals. Nor can the unstable be prevented from saying and/or doing unstable things; once again I use Obama as the best example of making comments most typically viewed as those of a person not fully in control of their mental faculties.
The simple truth is that Obama hates guns and will do whatever it takes to undermine the Second Amendment and deny us our Constitutional rights pursuant to same.
There was no way to prevent the massacre in Aurora and to use that tragedy as a bugbear to further a diabolical agenda is morally opprobrious and beneath contempt, but obviously not out of character for Obama.
My friends and I, like ten thousands of other shooting enthusiasts, enjoy shooting guns of every description on ranges around the nation. We are enthusiasts and collectors; we do not need Obama and gun-haters dictating the terms under which we enjoy our sport.
We are talking about shooting our AK-47′s this weekend along with several other firearms we own. My advice to Obama would be to focus on the economy and to focus on having Eric Holder obey Congressional subpoenas, and leave how we spend our free time to us.

God bless you get the word out…Obama’s agenda is hand & step with the UN….I hope they don’t force us into armed confrontation…These killings are a staged event….think 9/11!
You people are nuts. Yes I said you people. Totally tricked by the NRA whose only concern is money. Black people have more death by guns than anyone. Black conservatives are the worse kind of sellouts. Don’t you know you’re not on the team? They only keep you around for votes. But if the “big race riot” ever broke out, they would not see partisanship, they’d see black. And you fools know it. By the way, I love the pop-up. Ok, so criminals will always get guns. But conservative nuts get the big guns and commit mass murder. Legally. Regularly. Ever notice that?
daniel: spoken like a true moron…I suggest you see a good urologist because your intrauterine torsion is shutting off the oxygen to your brain…
Mr. Massie,
May God bless you, sir, for cutting through the mumbo-jumbo, & addressing the issue. I’m not a smoker myself, but by golly, the Constitution recognizes your God-given right to enjoy one during your shoot. It is my prayer that Americans’ eyes be opened to the deceit that is being foisted upon us, & take a stand at the polling place, to reclaim the greatness that this nation once enjoyed.
God bless America!
matt: amen, amen, and amen…that said I enjoy cigars every day…
I think Mr. Obama should make sure his secret service guys just have tazers and maybe some pepper spray to protect him with. That would show real compassion and earnestness for trying to get rid of the second amendment. But…wait…once again, “his” laws don’t apply to “us”…
millie: I don’t think he deserves to be called mr…
I noticed a rather disturbing similar- ity in Holmes & Loughner’s mug shots-namely a strange detached expression on both their faces. There was thoughts he was involved in mind-alterating neuroscience research&got Involved @ a depth HE never anticipated! How does an unemployed college student afford 20k in weapons gear? Is it possible since Fast &Furious was leaked this was a staged operation in time for a vote on the UN small arms treaty? F&F proved this outlaw administration has no qualms about killing it’s own citizens!
chris: I’m not prepared to go that far…
I believe that an easy-to-access national database on gun ownership is in the works via the national medical records database. I’ve not experienced this yet, but a close friend of mine has. She needed to change drs. recently & in her medical history forms there was the ? “Do you own any guns?” Her answer was “None of your business” to which I said, “Wrong. That’ll just put a flag by your name.” Just something to look for the next time new med forms are required.
kacee: another reason we need to get rid of boehner, cantor, mccarthy and elect those who will in fact rid us of obamacare…

Excellent rant as always! Trying to stay informed and aware of our surroundings has become a full time job. In my humble opinion if your not about half frightened your not paying attention. Thank you for the work you do, GOD speed.

r. woods: very well said…and you are sincerely welcome…
I can’t figure out what is more important of all the crisis that are coming at us. I first of all want Holder held accountable and arrested and other higher muckety-mucks who planned or even gave consent for Operation Fast and Furious to take place. To me, that was a big gun run that should never have happened. Holder and others, guilty as charged for murdering over 300 Mexicans and two or more Federal Agents. Other nuts have been turned loose with guns and caused all kinds of disasters…not just in Aurora, CO. I always feel sympathy for loved ones of those murdered. This has been happening and didn’t JUST happen. Criminals will always have guns. Statistics show that countries that ban people’s guns have doubled their crime rate. Switzerland demands that all households have guns. Their crime rate is near zero. But, I can’t help but wonder why Obama wants to remove American’s guns. I do believe it is connected to the theory that since most Americans do have guns, tyranical government cannot take place.
marilyn: excellent points…well said…
It isn’t only the lies and clever half-truths that are excreted from obama’s mouth every time he opens it, he certainly has plenty of help from the likes of holder, reid, schummer, clinton (both of them) most demonrats and some RINO’s, the brady campaign, and the list could go on ad infinitum. Willingly aided and abetted by those brilliant communist sympathizing talking heads that masquerade as journalists or reporters every day and night on that propaganda box sitting in your living room/family room/the kids bedrooms or where ever. None of them care a whit for the victims of something like the CO killings except that they can now be used as tools to manipulate the emotions of those who will not think for themselves. The more victims (tools) there are, the better they like it and have no compunctions about exploiting the whole thing and even if they have to make some parts up they do not hesitate. On a brighter note: U.S. participation in the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) was effectively stopped yesterday when enough senators (51) yielded to pressure from Second Amendment supporting groups and the public and declared they would not vote to ratify it should it come before them. But the anti-gunners, including obama will NOT give up easily. You can bet your life (literally) on that.
An incident occurred recently in Salt Lake City where a man bought a knife in a grocery store that he then used to attack passersby in the foyer while shouting “You are killing my people!” Utah has a lot of concealed carry license holders and one happened to be on the spot and not afraid to take action. He forced the attacker to drop the knife and be held for police. No shots fired, the mere threat of the business end of that handgun pointed at him was enough to stop the subject in his tracks. Did that get beyond local news? Not so you would notice, after all the use of a gun to stop a deadly attack is NOT what “they” want you to hear about because it does not fit into their agenda of disarming all of us (except the criminals of course).
The bottom line is the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution IS the amendment that guarantees all the others. It was meant to be that by our Founding Fathers. Remind your elected representatives of that fact and demand that they do nothing to betray it or suffer the consequences when they try to get another term in office.
wakinyan: the threat of the un treaty is not over…and I want them all out and the place fumigated…
For those who have a problem relating the Second Amendment as it was instituted and gun ownership today here is my perspective.
When our nation was founded the amendment was designed to afford the people the right to protect themselves from an oppressive government regime (like we have today). At the time the people and those in power had readily available to them the same basic weapons.
Just because the government and its military now have enormously superior weapons than average citizens it is no reason to assume the people don’t have the right to own or have access to more than a musket. Otherwise the Second Amendment lost its relativity years ago. As I see it the people are way behind. The question should be what can they do to catch up?
bill sr: point made…
As a retired Marine, I happen to own several AK-47s. The reason I do is because my two decades of experience with the piece of sh** M-16 assured me if it stopped in battle, I would discard it and pick up an AK, knowing it would work.
As a Sovereign Citizen, I am personally responsible for the security of this Nation. As a retired Marine, I can be recalled to duty, and regardless of that, I have a Marine’s obligation to fulfill my Constitutional Oath, no matter what.
Mayor Bloomberg suggested the other day, he thought the police should hold a strike, to demonstrate the the people of New York City just how much they depend on the police.
As a “Proud of My Country all my life Sovereign Citizen” I enthusiastically endorse that idea, and suggest it for Chicago, L.A. and every other large city.
If the People see how dependent they are, perhaps they will decide it’s sort of like extended childhood, still tied to momma’s apron strings, and maybe, just maybe, some of them might decide they don’t like depending on the police who can never be there until after the crime is committed, and will chose to arm themselves, join with neighbors and form committees to form gun clubs, and shooting training, so they can become independent citizens and make it dangerous to be a criminal, because “The People” hate you and shot you when you attack them.
That is the least reason our founders secured our right to keep and bear all the terrible weapons of war, the primary reason was so “The People” would never be out-gunned, lesser armed than the government which always grows, and never restrains its self, but is only constrained by an active and controlling “Sovereign Citizenry”.
We established every person’s right to life is an absolute one, making it a crime for anyone to try to take it. That right in being absolute, means each of us has the equal right to do everything necessary to defend our own life. The “right to keep and bear every sort of arms” is just as absolute, because it is the sole means of absolute defense of life.
Yes Mayor Bloomberg, the police should take a few months off, maybe three quarters of them should return to the private sector, and maybe you need to save the taxpayers, and send your protection detail looking for civilian employment and start learning to keep and bear arms yourself, instead of wasting other people’s money hiring bodyguards. Maybe crime is rampant today as it never was a century ago because it isn’t very dangerous being a criminal today. Maybe crime is rampant because you and your like minded busy-bodies want to make a law against practically everything and can’t stand people enjoying doing something you don’t.
Two hundred years ago, every man and woman was well trained in handling arms, and crime was low.
Seventy years ago, when my dad beat up the bully who accosted him, the boy went home and got his brothers, and about five confronted my 12 year old dad, and his mom, at the back porch. They told my Nana they were going to beat my dad bloody and there was nothing she could do to stop them. She pulled the .32 caliber revolver from her apron pocket fired it into the ground and asked the boys if they really thought that was true. They didn’t answer, but they never came back nor accosted my dad again. So come on, come get my guns, no problem. My ammo too, of course you’ll get that first, and you’ll have to survive the ammo off-load to have a chance at picking up the guns. Bring it on, I bought my own weapons based on best performance, you government types, you get your weapons from the lowest bidder. I know, I carried one for a long time.
God Bless America, God Bless the hands holding guns and defending this Nation. America is gone the minute gun ownership is gone. That is the sole reason they are pushing so hard, not because they want the guns, but because they want America gone.

John McClain

Well said, Gunny, well said. I’m retired Air Force and while I have never fired a shot in “anger”, you know we women aren’t in combat areas, RIGHT. I have had a few of them fired at me. And I have to agree on the M-16 jamming frequently. I have heard similar complaints about the M-4. My dad used to swear that the M-1 was the best made.
Gunny, as usual you have said it well. Personal note: Maybe I was one of the fortunate few because I know lots of incidents others had but I never had an M16 or an M4 fail on me. However, I did have in the back of my mind that were often AK’s available if needed. The Bushmaster M4 I now own has never failed either.
I too have a Bushmaster M-4 and have never had a problem with it. Keep in mind that this well made firearm with close tolerances must be kept clean in order to function correctly.A plus is that it is a very accurate gun.On the other hand I also have a AK-47—just in case. I have to admit the AK can take some rough handling and a lot of dirt because the tolerances are not as close and is not as accurate s the M-4 either. One other thing is that the 762-39 packs a stronger punch than the 223.
vietvet: true…I was shooting and SKS on sunday…and a AR15…loved the SKS…what a sweet instrument…
John McClain,
This is my first reply here and i chose to reply to your post. I’m not a Military Veteran, i could’nt pass the physical after two attempts in 68-69. I agree with everything in your post, i just wanted to say that. You worded my same thoughts. Keep up the good work.
Well said Gunny,
None of us want to think that it is time for fertilizer but I fear many of us are concerned for the health of the tree of freedom.
God Bless You.

john mcclain: I shot the SKS for the first time sunday past and fell in love w/ it…I liked more than the AK47 which I really enjoy…but that SKS was sweet…nad a hat tip to your comments per duffberg…
Is hard to add comment when you write as you do, I dont think you left anything unsaid.
As usual, great commentary.
momoftwo: thk you young lady…how are you…
Let’s be clear about why the government fears law abiding citizens who are also armed. Thomas Paine said that it is the duty of every patriot to protect his country from the govenment.
plee: amen, amen, and amen…
Mychal, well spoken! You bring so many facts together to help us see obama in a clearer image. Obama flip flops so much. He’s Flipper the president. I believe he has to wrestle the firearms from the masses to complete his agenda. The UN is still saying they’ll have their firearms agreement in 2012…Thank you for keeping us updated on the Flippin president.
I love the picture of you with the gun and cigar.
