‘I Feel the Presence of The Lord’

"I Feel The Presence of The Lord" is a personal collection of devotions intended to encourage the reader to seek and see the Lord in every aspect of their life.
The enemy of our souls would have us subscribe to the mentality of being endlessly busy, and therefore it being excusable to relegate God to a Sunday morning church service, if that. Thus, many in our churches today are powerless Christians and/or Christians in whom faith and fellowship with God is sorely wanting.
I Feel The Presence of The Lord is not just a book to be read as part of our daily devotions. It is a collection of thoughts and instructions to inspire the reader to meditate upon the Lord and His Word.

Dr. Ben Carson For President? Not So Fast!

February 6, 2014

As many of you are aware, my position on Dr. Ben Carson is that he would be a fine articulator of an anti-obamacare message and of self-determination. But I have made no secret that I didn’t see him as presidential material despite the people who jumped on the Ben for president wagon because he gave a good soundbite.

I have repeatedly said that, at the very least, his position on the Second Amendment warranted very close examination of his core positions. Now it comes to light that he has what can only be defined as a very uncomfortable position on illegal aliens.

In his book, “America the Beautiful,” Dr. Carson writes on page 102, “I believe we have taken the moral low road on this issue [i.e., illegal aliens]. Some segments of our economy would virtually collapse without these undocumented workers—we all know that—yet we continue to harass and deport many individuals who are simply seeking a better life for themselves and their families. Is there a way to apply logic to this issue and arrive at an intelligent solution?” (Ben Carson Has Presidential Ambitions, But Is Soft On Illegal Aliens; Jerry McConnell; Canada Free Press; 2/4/14)

Well hells-bells, Ben, if that’s the case why don’t we just open the prison gates and release all the bank robbers and drug dealers who are legal citizens? Because following the logic of “illegal aliens are just trying to provide a better life for their family” is exactly the same argument that can be made pursuant to many bank robbers and drug dealers. So why should illegal aliens get all the breaks and special consideration?

This is a serious matter. I’m not prepared to throw Dr. Carson under the bus just yet, but I am categorically saying that people should stop anointing him as the next great thing before we know all of his positions.

This is the mistake that we always make. With the first good soundbite people immediately proclaim a person worthy of president. They don’t bother to vet the person; they go by one soundbite and some favorable interviews on television. And what is worse — they shoot the voice of reason who says “let’s hold off until we find out more about the person.” This is a mistake we cannot afford to continue making.

Dr. Carson’s point of view, as he articulated in his book, is not in line with the view against amnesty or fast-tracking illegal aliens to citizenship. They should be deported or arrested and sent to prison. They should not be rewarded for being criminals when our legal citizens are punished for less.

The presence of illegal aliens here is not a victimless crime. The victims are those whose identities are stolen, the taxpayers who are charged with higher property and school taxes, theft, drugs, human trafficking, assaults, alcohol abuse, vehicular crimes that cannot be collected upon by the injured, theft of hospital/doctor services. Those are just some of the crimes perpetrated.

Dr. Carson can be used to articulate the message about why obamacare is an abominable piece of legislation, and why it will destroy our economy. But that is as close to the White House as I’m prepared for him to come.

The last thing we need is another person in the White House who has a confused opinion on the Second Amendment, and who gives all appearance of supporting favorable treatment for illegal aliens. ‘

The Second Amendment is our Constitutional right, and it must be held inviolate. And until and unless we are prepared to reward criminals who are legal citizens for breaking the law, we should, under no circumstances, reward illegal aliens for breaking our Sovereign law.
