Gun-Owners/Enthusiasts Cannot Drop Their Guard

A few people have commented to me that they are reluctant to believe Obama will be successful in taking away our Constitutional right to own and bear arms. Let me be as succinct as possible in saying–don’t be over confident.

I preface my thoughts by pointing out that I heard similar comments back in 2001 when I said the government would ultimately be denying our right to worship and the preacher’s authority to preach the Word of God as it pertains to homosexuality. But, within the last several days we have witnessed a Christian in California being sentenced to prison for holding bible studies in his home.

Pastors in Canada have come under attack for supposedly using hate speech for biblical preaching against homosexuality. And churches in the U.S. have had to fight court battles because they have refused to allow homosexuals to be married on their properties. Virtually any pejorative can be used and aberrant forms of debauchery can be used publicly–but children cannot give thanks for their food in public school cafeterias even as homosexuality can be acted out in same.

So to think that our Constitutional right to own and bear arms will never be taken away is borderline Pollyanna, in my opinion. For the record, teaching about the virtues of homosexuality is being forced upon public school children starting in kindergarten, didn’t happen overnight. The so-called “choice” of a woman to murder her unborn child wasn’t codified in the first attempt to do so, either.

Both of these condemnable practices took decades to accomplish, but the perverse and debaucherous are nothing if not persistent. And after decades-long battles, they have persevered to the point we witness today. Legal, Constitutional referendums against homosexual marriage have been overturned by renegade courts. So, do not believe our Second Amendment rights cannot be taken away–and done without changing the Constitution.

Obama is as committed to taking away our right to own, carry, and enjoy guns as he is committed to raising taxes and class warfare. In fact, in a perverse way, it can be argued that Satan is no more committed to seeing people burn in hell than Obama is to taking away our guns. Taking away guns is utmost on the agenda of Marxist-Leninists like him.

Obama plans to hold a summit to discuss how to prevent gun crimes in the wake of the latest mass shooting at the Sikh Temple in Wisconsin. It will be comprised of politicians, police, etc.–but you and I will not have a seat at the table.

And it is important to note that Obama has announced his plans to convene said summit with the idea in the minds of those attending that guns are the problem, not that criminals are the problem. Ergo, the format for the summit is prejudiced and flawed from the outset.

Hundreds of millions of dollars are being spent defend our God-given right to smoke because we have been told that smoking is a health hazard, while homosexuality is being promoted. Except for essayists and activists such as myself, you will never hear of the health costs associated with the deviant sexual practices of homosexuals.

I reference this, because it is necessary to point out, if we think Obama and his minions cannot prevail in denying our gun rights. Obama has been adamant his entire adult life pursuant to robbing us of our right to own and bear guns. His wife has been quoted telling small secretive groups that her husband has plans to end gun ownership.

We cannot succumb to the deceitful bromide that hunters do not need automatic weapons and assault weapons. That is a specious argument. First of all, not all of us hunt, and second, assault weapons are not to be confused with fully automatic weapons. That said, the easiest way to get an automatic assault weapon would be by being a Mexican drug cartel member who has contacts in the Obama administration via Fast and Furious, but I digress.

Gun owners are an eclectic group: some are enthusiasts, some are collectors, some want a gun for protection only, and some for hunting only. But we cannot be pigeonholed into one category based on the catholicity of anti-Second Amendment ignorance.

I remember saying that restrictions on where, when, and how I could use my cell phone would never happen. I was wrong. The people who argued that the government would never attack the church were wrong. Those who couldn’t imagine homosexual marriage and the public display of same were wrong. And I’m telling you, if we sit back–do nothing and/or leave the battle for our Constitutional right to own and bear arms to gun groups and politicians we will rue the day.

We must be hands-on involved, and we must vet candidates who are supportive of our rights. The majority of Americans cannot remotely understand how dishonest and deceitful politicians are and how determined anti-gun groups are. You can disagree with me at your own peril.

If they do not believe it, then they are foolish. I have had several vets tell me ‘they will take them from me over my cold dead body’
There will be a high price to pay on both sides if they attempt this as too many have been trained in use of weapons as a result of military service.

Our fouding fathers knew that Americans might need to protect themselves from tyrany again and that is why the 2nd Amendment. Stay alert.

Mychal is right as usual, we cannot sit back and let this happen. Every poll or survey I respond to that asks what my top priority is in choosing who I will vote for, support for our right to bear arms is my number one because that is the only thing that will guarantee the other things I care about. I also convey that frequently to my elected representatives and am lucky to live in a state where they are in agreement. I am glad we have the Second Amendment but believe it was put in place as a written affirmation of our UNALIENABLE RIGHT to possess the tools to defend ourselves from criminal activities AND an over reaching government which now days means the same thing. It was not intended by the Founding Fathers to imply that the possession of firearms was a privilege granted by government because anything the government gives or grants can be taken away by the stroke of a pen. The Founders understood human nature and knew that because some people are the way they are and always will be, there would come a day when if we are to maintain our freedom, we will have to fight those here at home who would take it from us, whether they be foreign or domestic enemies. Now here we are. Yes there are significant foreign threats but in my opinion the most dangerous and immediate threat to our liberty has raised its ugly head right here in our own capitol. We can quote reduced crime statistics until the cows come home but facts have never deterred left-wing liberals and especially anti-gun fanatics nor do they care what “… shall not be infringed” means. obama and all those that think like he does fail or refuse to acknowledge that there are some things they cannot take away from us. Oh, they are trying and will keep trying in many devious ways, but they will ultimately unleash a “civil disturbance” on a scale I don’t think they believe we are capable of. There are currently over one hundred million legitimate U.S. gun owners with thousands more being purchased every day. Who knows how many are in the hands of criminals? I don’t think those people obtained those firearms intending to meekly turn them over to a despotic dictator just because he tells them they have to. Of course not every one will have the courage to defend their rights but millions of us will and the price paid by both sides will be steep. obama has been convinced by his greatly inflated ego and those useful idiots he surrounds himself with that whatever he wants and says is the way things will be. He is wrong and will be proven so either by ballot or some other way. We are being pushed too far.

If/when the politburo begin taking our guns, it will be past time to start using them.
So many in this wonderful country are so dependent, ignorant and weak that I don’t hold out much hope for events proceeding any other way.
The Constitution is being so trashed, we had best just focus on the Founding Document. We are overdue for taking Thomas Jefferson’s advice.
    I pray for a comet.

I pray Obama is not reelected. If he gets to appoint anymore Supreme Court Judges we will be sunk for sure.

    • Noah August 9, 2012 at 6:24 pm #

Patricia Vilt, I prayed harder than anything I had prayed for in a long time, before the last election, that God would not allow Obama to win that first election. I heard the garbage that Obama was saying then and I knew he would be nothing more than a nightmare. I have felt since then that the reason why God placed him in office is because he is to be our king Saul. The Israelites wanted a king like all the other pagan nations rather than have the King of the Universe as their leader (1 Samuel 8:5). I am sure we can all see the corrupt filth and rottenness that creeped into America and is now completely full blown into putrid slime and violence and homosexuality. The Scripture seems pretty clear that as long as we want to wallow with the pigs God will allow it (Romans 1:18-32), until the time that He determines that it should be brought to a screeching halt (Genesis 6:5-13).

An informed and armed citizenry is the surest defence of freedom. This administration fears that above all else. Thomas Paine said it was the duty of every patriot to defend his country from the government.

Isn’t it amazing that one can still purchase box cutters, razor blades, fertilizer, kitchen matches and steak knives without a background check? I don’t recall the 9/11 attackers or Tim McVey using guns to murder thousands of people.

  7. Brother Steve August 9, 2012 at 2:25 pm #

Yes, we must be hands-on involved in the fight to defend the Second Amendment. Obama and the Brady Bunch have deep, well-funded pockets and they are rabidly anti-gun. This, despite statistics that show a lower crime rate in areas where citizens can freely carry handguns.

I am a hunter, as well as one who enjoys shooting range competition. I have a concealed carry permit issued by the State of Missouri. I am blessed to live in a state that has laws weeding out the “bad guys,” but not penalizing the good guys. I moved here from Illinois, a state which has the most draconian gun laws of any other state in the union.

However, there are numerous criminals who own and carry handguns and no amount of additional laws against decent, law-abiding citizens’ rights to bear arms will change that. As the old saying truly states, “When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will carry guns.”

A criminal bent on obtaining a handgun has ample opportunity to do so by buying one in the “black market,” or knowing someone in the US DOJ or a drug cartel member!

And as you say, we must thoroughly vet political candidates and vote for those who publicly back the Second Amendment. I am a member of the NRA and the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action emailed me (and I assume all other members) a list of political candidates running for office in my state and local area. The NRA had an easily-seen mark next to the name of the candidate who backs the Second Amendment. I took that list to the polls with me and voted for those the NRA had favored.

There is nothing “rampant” about owning a firearm. China for being a communist nation would be the last to know what ownership of a firearm is about. China you have nothing to say regarding America. So shut the hell up!

    • Mychal August 14, 2012 at 1:06 am #

      los: point made…

  9. Los August 9, 2012 at 2:14 pm #

There is a constitutional process to change or amend the constitution. As far as the dissoultion of the 10th amendment and the 1st amendments are concerned, we THE PEOPLE have only to SAY NO – Courts were never designed to Amend the Constitution and we have seen with the failures of this court to recuse itself RE Kagen and to declare ObscumboCare unconstitutional I doubt that any patriotic American need to give an ounce of respect towards the judgments or “opinions” of very fallible and even vile court justices. The Laws of our land are the agreed upon and understood rules that we as Americans live by. PERIOD. Owning firearms to protect ones family to hunt or to fight of a tyrannical government is guaranteed – it goes “…SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.” And this includes high capacity magazines. Automobiles cause fatalities too but are politicians always requiring drivers to remove one part or another of a factory assembled auto to “make it somehow safer?” NEVER! So our right to own firearms regardless of what Obscumbo and various nefarious and onerous politicians wish STILL STANDS! What is ILLEGAL is to attempt to take our rights away such as the 1st and 10th and now 2nd Amendments. I didnt harm anybody and I am not a criminal – the 2nd Amendment does not legalize criminal activity and owning firearms is not to be vilified – the criminality of say Hassan and the other shooters – now they must meet the hangman plus the criminal and corrupt Obscumbo and his violation of the War Powers Act and many similar violations. All cowardly politicians who aid Obscumbo and hillary in attacking our 2nd AMendment rights is an enemy of the state and a traitor! I’ve said enough! HoooAH!

I read about this today on the examiner.com: A report issued by the State Council Information Office of the People’s Republic of China has included U.S. gun ownership among a list of human rights violations, Law Enforcement Examiner Jim Kouri reported yesterday. “The Human Rights Record of the United States in 2011″ was published last Friday on the PRC’s Consulate General in New York website. “The United States prioritizes the right to keep and bear arms over the protection of citizens’ lives and personal security and exercises lax firearm possession control, causing rampant gun ownership,” the report claims.

I continue to be amazed that the UN and our enemies, through the UN, are bullying us into giving up our rights. Of course the Chinese government doesn’t want its citizens to have guns – they may revolt. Isn’t that one reason why we are allowed to have guns – to protect ourselves from our own government if the need arises? How far are we going to let ourselves be pushed? This is very disturbing. Drones flying overhead and spying on everyone, cameras literally everywhere, the internet being monitored – and now they want to disarm us. All of this could really make one paranoid!

I completely agree with your analysis. We have already given up Sovereignty to the U.N. over many National parks and other historic places in this country. The fact the they failed to execute the “Small Arms Treaty” by no means, indicates it is dead in the water. They are already planning an end run. With over 40 million gun owners in the USA it will be interesting to see how this plays out. Let’s all keep our powder dry!

    Keep preachin’ Mychal. :-)

  13. Chris August 9, 2012 at 1:18 pm #

    Mychal,
If Obama wants us to surrender our weapons then let him disarm the secret service and those who protect his, Michell, and his children’s lives and let’s see how he feels about guns then. They’ll have to kill me to get my guns and all are legal. Which I’m sure as in Katrina, the National Guard and NOPD took guns from innocent homeowners protecting their homes and property under the ruse of protecting who? In the aftermath, a friend of mine took his boat over to NewOrleans, launched it and was trying to rescue victims only to be shot at by thugs trying to keep him out of the areas they were robbing. Now tell me we don’t need to have guns!!!
    BS.
Thanks for your views and keep on putting the word out to us.

As a firearms dealer, I advise to make no mistake about it. They can do whatever they want, whenever they want to. These are very evil and powerful people. Their mantra is “by whatever means necessary.” Yes, I can happen here. They’ve already succeeded in taking away the Tenth Amendment in great part, the First Amendment in great part, so there’s no reason not to believe that they will not step on the Second Amendment. That’s how it happened in Europe and other countries too – by people believing that it can’t happen. We must be on our guard and be willing to protect our Constitution and our country from enemies foreign and DOMESTIC in whatever way necessary. Do not fall asleep, for it’s when you’re sleeping that the nightmares creep in.

  15. Deb August 9, 2012 at 12:39 pm #

I agree Mychal!! Also interesting to note, victim count was much higher in Colorado shooting, no one was armed. It is my understanding that there were off duty police officers, or at least one, at the Sikh temple, which appears to have made a difference in the victim count. The whole argument is stupid anyway, criminals always manage to get guns. And we should not be allowed to defend ourselves? Really?! I also agree with your assessment that our rights are being stripped from us one by one. We are over-regulated across the board. Seems to me in an effort to create a population of sheep – but that’s just me….
