My grandmother used to say “Those people would grunt at a gnat and swallow a camel.” That’s exactly what comes to my mind when I think about the attempted actions of Fuehrer of New York, Michael Bloomkopf (alternately known as Michael Bloomberg).
Bloomberg and his handpicked regime have set out to do what God has done or hasn’t chosen to do. He’s going to end obesity in New York City. He is preparing an edict that would criminalize drinks over 16 ounces that contain sugar, albeit he will, at least for the time being, allow refills, (no mention of how many). He and his behavioral Nazi’s are also considering criminalizing milkshakes and popcorn, all in a foolish and vain attempt to control the appearance of those they find offensive to their eyes. Only they won’t tell you that; they’ll say it’s to control health costs. The sensus plenior is that if these proposals are able to be passed, it will allow the government to control your family, even to the point of seizing your children. But don’t expect them to admit to that.
If Bloomberg and those like him were really interested in making a better, more healthy society–he would start in Washington with the federal government and work outward in concentric circles. He would start with the card-carrying socialists in congress who are subverting the Constitution. America has had enough of them trying to turn us into a cookie-cutter society.
If Bloomy were really concerned about the quality of life of We The People, he would center his attention on a vapid and feckless Republican Party that more closely resembles a busload of Keystone Cops, with John Boehner driving and Eric Cantor as the navigator.
And if he were really concerned about the quality of life in America, he would next go to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, and tell the Obamas they’re detrimental to the Constitution of the United States and it was his intention to rid America of their threat. He would tell them that America is the land of the free and the home of those brave enough to undertake their removal in every legal manner possible. He would tell Obama that Americans don’t take well to Marxist-Leninists trying to turn our nation into a Communist cesspool. He would tell Obama that his wife is an affront to the position she holds and that it is time for her to start behaving with dignity and propriety commensurate with the position she holds and the dignity that each FLOTUS before exhibited.
We don’t need to focus on obesity just because they find it offensive. But while I’m on that subject, why doesn’t he tell some of the tubbies in Congress to lose a few pounds?
If Bloomberg really wants to make New York City a healthier place, then I submit he should start by cleaning up Washington. Or am I missing something?

I think this post is so useful. Thank You very much for sharing this one.
If I’m not incorrect, Bloomberg has been elected more than once. So, barring fraud (not entirely impossible), New Yorkers don’t have to look any farther than the face in the mirror to find what’s wrong. Or do they want some nanny man to hold their hands and not let them have 16 oz. drinks? Gunny is right. We have and always have had the power and authority to put a stop to ridiculous and invasive laws like this and wannabe dictators. We have the power to throw him out of office. If there are going to be laws like this, there should be a law against a face like his. Yes that’s below the belt.
Going farther, the man in the White House is our fault too. Yes, he lied. But what politician hasn’t? It’s their stock in trade. But how many of us made the most rudimentary investigation into what was running for office? Apparently not enough. I believe that the big boy Democrats are to blame for the traitor we have in office. They knew what he is and were more interested in party power than the good of the citizens of this country. They have rubber stamped everything he had Pelosi and Reid legislate.
If you haven’t figured out how individuals get to run for office, you haven’t been involved with the real inner workings. Unless you are super rich and willing to spend your money for the campaign, if you don’t play ball with the higher ups in the party, you’ll never get farther than dog catcher. So my contention is that the big boy Democrats knew exactly who he was and were more interested in party power than in what’s best for the country. Which makes me wonder if what we have is what they wanted? I can’t believe that what we have is what the majority of the country wanted. If it is, this country is in the trash can.
There should be a modified Raganism for the voters when it comes to electing anyone to office. “Don’t trust and do verify”. We wouldn’t be in the mess we are if more had followed this motto. We have one chance to redirect the course of this nation. How many are paying attention? Or haven’t we learned anything?
sumitch: we have the power to tell him to kiss off and openly defy him his big gulp law…let him try to shut down or fine places out of business…
one aspect of bloomberg’s largesse that is overlooked, is that he is protecting the government at the expense of the people. handing people a $500 ticket for breaking a needless suppressive law is easy money for bankrupt governments, and now you have an arrest record for drinking a 24 ounce pepsi. i might be tempted to assault a policeman who wants to cuff me for doing such, because it’s pathetic and retarded.
maybe we should ask billionaire bloomberg to come out of his pocket and help fill the deficit gap in NYC criminal courts for the money they spend on minor drug arrests, even though “stop and frisk” is illegal. for political correctness, “stop and frisk” is actually illegal, but the courts make alot of money with the grist mill of young black and latinos who get hustled into the system, and have to pay a fine. wow, that’s a great justice system, one that makes laws for victimless crimes so they can loot the victimless criminal. no wonder our young people are messed up, they don’t know what is moral or not, because the laws keep them saying “huh?”
we have got to stop being stupid, or continue to erode america.
dave buls: well said…
mychal,
you’re not missing anything. It’s “getting kind of weird around here” as Lazlo Hollyfeld said in the 1985 movie “Real Genius”. Yes, it is. The cool thing is we get to hire policeman that actually would have the temerity to arrest children drinking milkshakes at the theater, because “it’s the law”. The fact that we make laws like this is evidence of thinking that slips into the macabre from years of bankrupt, immoral legislation run amok. The fact that you could even put a law into the books that would arrest people for drinking sugary drinks over 16 ounces, makes us have to wonder why we school people when they are young, because they certainly don’t use it when they are older. I’m embarrassed to live in a country where foreigners can watch our children potentially get arrested for such things. The same could be said of Saudis who could get arrested for kissing in public. No wonder Saudi Arabia has little tourism – who would want to go to a country like that? Tourism is one aspect of life that we overlook, that people from around the world would want to come to your country, because they are impressed by your lifestyle, your success, your technology, your nature. But, it they have a huge slurpie in Times Square, because they can’t get the same in their country, and then they get arrested for it, would they tend to come back and tour our country again? There are so many unintended consequences of stupid, nanny laws. Not just the judicial impact of suppessive laws, but the economic impact as well. Legislating freedoms away will legislate wealth away as well. Almost all countries in the past that have draconian, suppressive laws, and suppressive law enforcement, have increasing poverty as well, that is generally caused by the system itself.
dave buls: once again your points are well made…that the courts and other lawmakers aren’t telling him to flake off is beyond the pale…
Who was it that said “We have the best politicians money can buy”?
And where does the SecDef get the authority to proclaim the gay pride month?
sumitch: if I remember correctly he spent 63 million of his own money to get elected…
We have to all consider one little fact before getting on our high horses, just exactly how did this Bloomberg fella get put in charge? Whether it is local, state, or central government, we have such government as we allow to grow and be.
We have always had both the right and the ability to end tyranny when it raises its head, we have simply failed to do so. I would like to get exercized over this, but in truth, I believe New York needs this, badly. When the people of New York decide they won’t have prohibition, they need to rise up and strike down those who put it up.
Thomas Jefferson was not making nice noises when he stated “every nation must have a revolution every few generations, the tree of liberty needs be refreshed from time to time, by the blood of patriots and tyrants alike, it is its natural manure”. Anyone wonder why exactly did he put the blood of “patriots” first? Could it be because we have to get tired of being stomped on many times before we are willing to put our lives and blood on the line?
I know well my own State, North Carolina could easily become a bastion of leftists, and there are many who are trying, yet I must laugh at California, my birth place, because it is so bad I can never return. I thank God constantly, I chose N.C. and never considered returning to Chicago, where I entered the Corps from, and I must laugh at Chicago, and those who live there, because I don’t have tears enough to cover those I left behind, who must live under Chicago law.
I now often wonder, what exactly was the value of my two decades of service, if in the end, we will choose to be communist, and choose to be serfs. What do our own elites do that is sufficient to cause us to rise up, is there anything?

john mcclain: once again you make the point I argue…the people are responsible for selecting and drinking their own poison…new york has kept bloomkopf in office when he should never have been elected…we must now fight against his evil in other states…
So why is Bloomberg focussing only on FOOD?? Why doesn’t he order all the kids to give up their X-boxes and video games and get outside and EXERCISE? Why doesn’t he force everyone to give up their remotes and join a gym or health club? He has no business and no legal right in restricting sugar, salt, milk, popcorn, or anything else. It must be a contagious disease, what with Obama now giving amnesty to illegal youth. It appears that if these illogical and selfish “leaders” (this doesn’t fit, but what else do we call them?) can do this, there is nothing they can’t do. They have made a mockery of the Constitution and our individual rights! And yes, both must go!
sunnyvee: why doesn’t he go after the disease spread by homosexuals…why doesn’t he go after illegals…bloomkopf is another abomination that deserves condemnation…
Let’s look at this more carefully. Is this a racist law? Recently there was a study which proclaimed that 4 out of 5 black women are obese. (office of minority health May 31 2012) You can add in this study (from the NYTimes Aug 3 2010) stating that “Over all, blacks and Hispanics were more likely than whites to be obese…” Seems like the esteemed mayor is targeting minorities doesn’t it? Where’s Jessie, big Al, the NAACP and all the rest?
Is this related to food stamp use? Nationally (according to a piece in the Chicago Tribune, April/May 2012) 48.3% of people on food stamps right now are white. Blacks 30% and Hispanics 22%. So 52% of the total on food stamps are these 2 minorities. Spin this a little and it looks like food stamps cause obesity. (I can spin things too!)
Now dig into this… Blacks are 12.6% of the population. Hispanics are 16.3% of the population. 28.9% total. How does it happen that we get such a high percentage of these two groups in the food stamp program? And they are also fat. So either the law is racist or it’s a scathing denunciation of our food stamp program. Why is he only going after the one thing and not the other?
PS, I’m overweight by probably 30 pounds, which is my insurance that I will survive a hospital visit at my age. BUT I buy my own food. I surely don’t need the government trying to make me so skinny that I cannot survive an illness.
j-m: you raise an interesting point for consideration…I have considered that it was intended to target blacks because so many in the inner cities tend to be overweight…we’re now being told that obesity will consume most of the worlds resources…so we are back to margaret sanger only they have found they can assign blame for more things than breeding poor children to blacks and those they deem unworthy and/or unfit…
” Grunt at a gnat and swallow a camel ” is what our government is all about. Let’s just leave the real important stuff alone and tinkle around with the little things that don’t amount to squat.
A real and honest war on poverty and slum dwellings would be more beneficial to New Yorkers. Maybe starting an employment program is a better idea to put folks to work so they can afford the two 10oz drinks that will replace the 16oz ones.
A ban on 16oz drinks will just mean a person will have to buy two 10oz ones at more expense to the drinker. Bloomberg must have an interest in Coca Cola or Pepsi Cola.
We the people are getting a little tired of our government on all levels messing with our lives.I wonder what will pop into Blooberg’s head next, the sky is the limit.
upsetvet: getting tired is not enough… we must get them out and not replace them w/ more of the same…
Here’s my prediction: One year from now, two tops, we will all try to recollect this sugar drink 16 oz. stuff and nonsense. It will simply go away. Why, you might ask?
Simple. The obvious law enforcement resource problem. Few self-respecting NYPD cops will be giving out tickets. Watch and see. Further, everyone has caught on and will have as many smaller size drinks on their counters, tables, cupholders, and so on.
Many will do so just to p#ss off Mayor Dipsquat. The laws, regs, rules will crumble as folks simply lose interest in it all. Twelve to twentyfour months down the line, everybody will be just as fat, medium, and thin as they are now.
Sad sack, this weirdo personage.
gershom ben binyamin: I thought the opposite…these things don’t go away…they multiply…and they can always find the resources to enforce taking away our freedoms…
Politicians are all the same. It’s not about public service, it’s about leaving your mark. They are like a dog pissing on a fire hydrant. They have a need to leave their mark, which generally becomes an indelible stain, on their path through life.
If they knew how, they would build pyramids and many try. From the top to the bottom. From federal government to city and state. Each regime has to build, or destroy, a “landmark” that they feel with make them eternal in the eyes of man. Damn them!
mike reiker: my friend you knocked it out of the park w/ your comment…you are big time right…
I think it’s incredibly ironic that a Jew would want to emulate the characteristics of a Nazi.
It’s worthy of a Seinfeld episode. “The Sugar Nazi”.
“NO SUGAR FOR YOU!!!”
mike reiker: once again you have expressed that which I have pointed out many times…its like Jews supporting obama…
I wonder if Der Furer, the rocket scientist has considered that people will now buy 2 10 oz. drinks rather than one 16 oz. Or maybe someone will think of a 15 oz. cup? I hear he’s going to mandate fingernail length next. Where’s the mafia when you need them? He needs to sleep with the fish.
sumitch: the midget commie potentate will have one of his surrogates move to limit the number people can have next…
You’re 100% right about starting in Washington DC, after all, that’s where the pork begins-LOL! No wonder NYC is losing its population in record numbers! This shameful intrusion into people’s private lives is beyond the pale-aren’t the Liberals usually shrieking about a ‘right-to-privacy’? They’re always hand-wringing about the government staying out of people’s bedrooms (unless it’s for perverted purposes). Ironically, now they want government intrusion in our kitchens, instead. Let’s make the Democrats & RINOs go the way of the dinosaurs come November…
chris: the problem is that when they leave new york they spread out and pollute other areas…
Mychal,
I can only hope that this goes thru as i have purchased a number of soda pop speakeasy locations and i will soon be rich beyond my wildest dreams selling portly people their daily dose of 20 oz addictions. if you should see a lot of 40″ wide doors with little view windows going in,just ignore them ,nothing is really going on there.
john rusnak: hahaha…
Thank you Mychal,
You are a true patriot. It is such a blessing that a man with conviction and honor as you are, has the impetus to speak freely in the world that we live in. Thank God for our constitution and the hard fought freedom that we have today. I would love to see more of you Mychal on TV, on radio talk shows, and to have you as a syndicated newspaper columnist. You are the true voice of freedom. We love you!!
ron aarts: I am syndicated nationally and my work appears in publications globally…I do many on-air interviews wkly…if I have time to post them I do so on my facebook group page and my twitter…I am also available to speak to your group or at your event and/or church…
I think he wants to outlaw big drinks because they are taller than he is.
ben mcalister: hahaha…that’s the best one I’ve heard…I love it…I’m going to co-opt it…
Mychal, “fuehrer” is appropriate for the little corporal Bloomberg, if he could he would be mayor for life, as much as I am no fan of President Obama, I truly believe that a President Bloomberg would be an absolute tyrant, by the way could you please explain to me how did he get a 3rd term?
Thank you for telling it like it is.
ben mcalister: I have no idea how he got a third term…but tyrants usually find a way to subvert law…my feelings are he should never have had a first one…
Bloomberg is the epitome of RINOs…
t.snyder: he’s beyond rino…
To fix obesity, we need to get rid of the lobbyists for big agriculture and big Pharma. People need eat like their great grandparents did. A low-carb, high animal fat/protein diet. The science is out there that proves this is truly the way humans were meant to eat.
pamokwi: thk you for sharing this…I and many of my friends are in complete agreement w/ you…
Wheee Daddy!! Shades of prohibition. Wonder who will start the first bootleg milkshake bar? What an horses patoot.
hankypanky: restaurants will have soft drink speakeasies in the back of the restaurants…
