U.S. Federal border officer Brian Terry is dead. U.S. Federal border agent Jaime Zapata is dead. Hundreds of innocent Mexicans are dead including Mexican attorney Mario Gonzalez Rodriguez who was the brother of Patricia Gonzalez Rodriguez, the former Chihuahua state attorney general. What they have in common is that they were all murdered by guns that were placed in the hands of the most notorious Mexican drug cartels known.
They were put in the hands of these ruthless criminals by the illegal (White House/Justice Department/ATF) gun-running operation known as Fast and Furious–an illegal operation that coerced American gun shop owners along the border to allow straw purchasers to buy thousands of assault weapons which were in turn placed in the hands of the drug cartels.
It is unjustifiable and unforgivable for Democrats on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee to take the position that Chairman Issa is in some way being unfair to Eric Holder in demanding he turn over all documents subpoenaed by the committee.
It’s been nearly two full years and Holder has done nothing but stall, obfuscate, and lie. He has made no less than three major retractions of sworn testimony he made to the committee.
With that said, this shouldn’t be about politics it should be about justice. It should be about right and wrong. It should be about upholding the law. Every member of that Committee–as well as Eric Holder and Obama–swore an oath to uphold not only the Constitution but also the laws of the United States to the best of their ability. People are dead, including two Americans (that we know of), and they are dead specifically because of an illegal government operation that was a clandestine attempt to undermine the Constitutional right of We the People to own and bear arms.
The blood of those murdered by the illegal actions of the federal government screams out for justice. Eric Holder, with heretofore unwitnessed dissociative arrogance, told the Committee he had not only not spoken to the family of Brian Terry, but that he had not even made an attempt to do so. Brian Terry and Jaime Zapata were murdered protecting the American border; Trayvon Martin was a thug wannabe and yet the very same members of Congress, Holder and Obama were out front leading the cacophony of cries for justice. Do not the families of Brian Terry, Jaime Zapata, and the families of the hundreds of Mexicans who were murdered deserve the same insistent calls for action?
This should never have been about politics. It should never have been about Democrat or Republican and I condemn those in the media who are reducing it to same. I condemn those members of the Committee such as Carolyn Maloney, D-NY, Elijah Cummings, D-MD, Eleanor Holmes-Norton, D-DC, for being obstructionists instead of upholding the plain and straight forward rule of law.
Eric Holder is the highest law enforcement officer in America. It is his job, his sworn duty, to uphold the law–not exercise every tool of deceit and Machiavellian subterfuge to break the law for an even more egregious illegal pursuit. It is the job of the Congress and Obama’s White House to ensure that Holder does his job.
We are a nation of laws. It is not in the interest of truth, justice, and the maintaining of the law when those sworn to uphold same blatantly break the law and try to cover up their involvement in the criminal enterprise.
I must here point out that Speaker of the House, John Boehner, R-OH, must be singled out for condemnation, as well. Instead of playing golf with Obama, he should be using his position to demand, and force if necessary, that the rule of law be upheld. But instead, we have those sworn to uphold the law nefariously devising programs to break the law, and even more abominable–we witness those sworn to hold other elected officials and their appointees accountable insidiously searching out ways to do anything but.
This is the time for us to demand justice for those murdered and that those responsible for their murder, either directly or indirectly, vis-a`-vis the implementation of the illegal and criminal program responsible, be held accountable. It is time for us to tell our Congressmen and those running for office that we expect them to demand accountability, as well. It is time for us to write letters to the editors of our local newspapers making known when our Representatives ignore us, do not respond or when they respond with tepid or canned replies that have little if anything to do with our voiced concerns. We must call local and national talk shows and make known those Congresspersons who are less than helpful. And most important, we must demand that those working to bring justice to the Terry family, et al, stay the course.
In closing, I say to Elijah Cummings: “Don’t blow smoke in my direction.” If you were serious about leaving no stone unturned in bringing those responsible for these crimes to justice, you wouldn’t be attempting to block efforts to that end.

Mychal, please tell me that wasn’t you in the chicken suit and swimming fins.
sumitch: hahaha…what do you think…
Works for me Mychal. Put them with the Walmartians where they belong.
sumitch: I happen to like walmart…send them where they’ll be appreciated…like hell for starts…
As a matter of fact, I remember the Iran-Contra affair, and I remember congress investigating it, and the principles being found guilty and disciplined. Yes there was reluctance, obfuscating, but members of the house demanded from both sides, the facts, and did not make excuses.
Two American agents whose duty it was to defend our borders are dead because their superiors at the highest level chose to operate in support of the criminals, and provided them with the guns to kill our agents. We should be outraged by this, marching on Washington, and demanding heads.
If we as Americans, believed in Justice, we should expect Mexico to charge our President and our Government with an act of war, because obama, Holder, the FBI, the CIA, the BATF&E all operated in full violation of international law in running guns into a sovereign foreign nation, and are as subject to trial by international court as any of Hitler’s minions were, and more so, because all their actions were in the midst of war, while ours have been of the form to foment war.
That we have allowed this administration to go forward merely shows how corrupt and defiled We, The People are. There is never a shortage of evil minded people willing to steal or kill for fun or profit, however such can only prevail when the good people utterly fail to hold them back.
That we have allowed going on four years of the crimes common for Chicago, to be moved to Washington D.C., and properly expanded to meet the full scope possible by our Capitol City, as opposed to Chicago, shows We, as A People, have chosen to allow evil to rein because we choose not to stop it.
Such a People are not worthy to call upon God, and we should pray justice be withheld, because we will be sorely excoriated for allowing such evil to rule us.
Did we not choose this government, these people, as our favorites?

john mcclain: I for one would welcome mexico bringing charges in this instance…especially before the untied nations…since that is the august body they all place so much stock in…bottom line crimes have been committed and the perpetrators need to be found and held accountable to the fullest extent of the law…
Another great rant dripping with truth and common sense which our society is thirsting for and so desperately needs but the lockstep liberals establishment and the lapdog media have no intention of allowing the general puplic to receive until they can warp it in lies and distortions tied with the bow of racism.
bill jr: thks partner…that’s why we have this blog…believe me they are reading and following what I write and we discuss here…
As always Mychal you have not clouded the letter of the law. It is not about votes as liberal democrats have implied. To lie under oath and to not turn over evidence that has been supeoned is a violantion of the law. Plus , the covert action of fast and furious and not letting the Mexican goernment aware of this action is an amateur at work with limited brain power. I think the Mexican goverment should export 200 tons of dope to the USA especially DC area to see if they can be any dumber and ignorant of the law.(this is sarcasim for government people watching and listening). Thanks again Mychal for being diligent!
simmjz: I disagree…it was a machiavellian attempt that would have worked if not for Brain Terry and Jaime Zapata being murdered…obama’s intention was to undermine the constitution and strip us of our right to own and bear arms…
Just an outstanding blog, Mychal. Keep up the good work. I have been sending out your site to people I know since I found it.
Your commnents on Obama, Holder, Cummings, Boehner are absolutely on target. They deserve to be held accountable for their actions, or lack thereof, & removed from office.
With the choices the Republicans have given us for President the last few elections, its easy to see why conservatives feel disenfranchised & reluctant to vote for either candidate.
norlyn baker: thk you very much…I genuinely appreciate your support and readership…
Kinda makes you think that Boehner isn’t interested in anything you have to say unless you can vote to keep him in office doesn’t it Jenifer. I hope that the people in his state see what a weak sister and coward they have put in office and vote him out. Better yet, call him back and impeach him. Better yet, ship him to Greece and pull his passport. He’s no American.
sumitch: how about we put him and all his kind in a spaceship to mars w/ just enough fuel to almost get there…
I tried sending an email to the speaker, but when I hit “submit” nothing happened. I went to the speaker of the house web site that you mentioned, SunnyVee, but am not confident that my email was even sent…
jenifer: try a few more times…if the same thing happens…write letter to editor of your paper and rip him for being disconnected from the people and for refusing you the courtesy of a response…if you get a canned tepid response do the same thing…
Your ‘Rant’ is wonderful. Thank you, Mychal. When I learned that Holder had requested executive order from Obama to protect “confidential” reports, all I could think was ‘Here we go again!’ Issa must have known this would happen and he was prepared. The House Republicans stood their ground and voted for Holder’s contempt regardless of the Obama’s executive order. The Demoncrats, on the other hand, still not knowing which way is up, refused to do their job and voted ‘NO’ on Contempt. It appears they are afraid that they could lose their next blood infusion from Obama. Plus, I watched part of Carney trying to cover for the Fast and Furious fiasco and the man didn’t know if he should lie or simply build onto the lies that were fed to him. Carney stumbled through and couldn’t recall Brian Terry’s name a few times. It was sickening. And, yes, the Bush name was brought up. Of course. I think if we check back into a past few presidents we will find something similar to Fast and Furious but those plans never materialized. I smell lots of bean soup cooking in the jail house kitchens. Hope it doesn’t go to waste!
marilyn: we must keep this about rule of law and the oath they swore to uphold the law…hundreds of people were murdered as a direct result of this illegal and criminal program that was designed to violate the constitution and deprive us the right to own and bear arms…it is easier for us to explain things to those not as informed as we are when we reference it as same…we must explain that holding those people accountable for breaking the law is not partisan…
Anyone remember the Iran-Contra affair and Oliver North?
kfjane: I remember it well…do you remember benedict arnold…fast and furious is worst than iran-contra because this was specifically intended to undermine the constitution and strip us of our constitutional right to own and bear arms…
Mychal, thank you for the very pointed and accurate insights you shared as you tie this whole mess together. I personally find this so very frustrating I want to scream! When I think of how Republicans were treated in the past in similar circumstances, I am repulsed by the Democrats now circling around Holder. Elijah Cummings is a disgrace to this country! And you are correct about John Boehner. I reiterate again what a huge disappointment he is! And for you and all your readers who want to contact him, do not go to his Representative web site, because it refuses zip codes out of his district. Go instead to the Speaker of the House web site, and you can email him from there. I have sent him several scathing messages so far. Sadly, he comes from my home town, and we had such high hopes for him. I think he needs to go the way of Lugar, and soon. And take Mitch McConnell with him!
sunnyvee: I agree and don’t forget to take cantor, mccain, maccarthy and a boatload of others as well…
Ifigured it would only be a matter of time before they would find a reason to blame Bush.
patricia vilt: they would blame their mother and father if they thought it would preserve their fiefdom…
Just Marvelous! Der Fuhrer dictates from das bunker while Boehner channels Chamberlain……….proving once again that history does indeed repeat.
stormrider900: maybe the outcomes will be the same i.e. an ignominious and disgraced defeat…
Those who seek position and power have already defined their priorities.
clarence de barrows: very well stated…excellent comment and true…
It’s beginning to penetrate my thick skull that most politicians do not go to Washington to represent their constituency, obey the law and uphold the Constitution but to begin campaigning from their first day there for their next term in office.
It’s also dawned on me that what you’ll read in the news media in no more than spin put on everything so as to uphold their favorite politician or cause. In truth, I can do no more than form my opinion on what I find that fits the actions that I see and the research I do. Words are cheap. Actions speak volumes. Will we ever be able to trust Boehner again? Did we ever trust him in the first place?
Is Issa being too tough on old deer eyed “Bambi” Holder or is he passionate to fulfill his obligations and do his job. To listen to that smuck serving as the White House Press Secretary, you’d think that Issa was the suspect of wrong doing and holder “working hard” to fulfill his job (he may be. We don’t know what Barry has told him his job is). And in-so-far as Obama finding the very idea of leaks and illegal actions by his administration “objectionable”; tough. Life is hard. Many of us find him more than objectionable. We find him downright disgusting to the point of nausea.
sumitch: you have summed it up well…and boehner was trustworthy when he was tending bar or cleaning the bar or whatever he was doing in the bar…he should have stayed there…
There are no honest men/women in our government. We need to clean house – and I mean 100% of them. If they have been in the job for any amount of time, they have been corrupted. As for John Boehner, what a disappointment he is.
dlb: OORAH…now you are spkg my language…
They( Democrats) make me sick to my stomach….It’s a sad day for America and the so-called ‘Justice System’…
kenny1801: they all make me sick to my stomach…
I’m not involved in the justice system or law enforcement and even I know that one must allow a lawful search and/or produce documents that are lawfully requested. If one does not comply, one is found in contempt and could be fined and/or incarcerated until one does comply with the order. Holder has now been found in contempt by the committee. If there is any justice and our elected representatives and senators have any sense of it, they will uphold that contempt ruling in their separate votes.
When one is testifying under oath, one is expected to answer all questions truthfully or possibly be charge with purgery which could result in incarceration. Holder has already withdrawn testimony at least three times after being proven to be “mistaken” by DOJ data already released.
A lawyer who lies under oath and suppresses lawfully requested evidence could pay fines, spend time in jail and possible have his license suspended or pulled. Holder is supposed to be a distinguished lawyer and holds the position of Attorney General. These things should be no-brainers for him.
The only reason not to comply with a lawful order is that he and the administration have something to hide that would come to light if he testified truthfully and/or if the papers were released.
sharon thomas: your very first sentence says all that needs to be said…very well reasoned and cogent response…thk you…
amazing what little meaning the word “justice” has anymore. justice should be simple to understand, and obvious to everyone worldwide. the people who allowed these murders to happen will have God’s justice at the end of their lives.
dave buls: one would think…but thks to marxist teachers and professors are teaching the young people that america has done it all wrong…and that the system is stacked against them…
Mychal thank you for the work you do and for saying what you say without fear. I am not a racist and I have a rainbow color of friends because I was blessed with a Mother that taught me to judge the person by the person. Not by the 10 pounds of skin that cover them. You are a true American and I would be proud to shake your hand and break bread with you on any given day.
ray eaton: thk you very much…
If there was justice, and our cowardly government representatives, congress and senate etc., were honest and had some balls, obama and holder and the rest of obamas hand picks would be cuffed behind thier backs and roughly shoved into prison. They are all socialists, communists, liberal cowards and muslum appologists and sympathizers.
carpenter: you are right they should have done a perp walk long ago…many before entering politics…I am in full agreement with your last sentence…
Mychal, again you are dead on. This is not political as the left wing media would like it to be. This is about the LAW. It is so sad that a thug like Trayvon Martin gets support from our President, but Terry and Zapata are ignored. Kinda makes me wonder how far up this goes as it seems everyone in the administration is trying to cover this up. Kudos to Issa for not letting this die. However, as weak as Boehner is, I wonder how much farther he will allow this to go. Thanks again Mychal for another great article.
bill mason: it goes to obama, clinton, holder, and napolitano…fast and furious was not the work of some rogue atf agents alone…read Katie Pavlich’s book…but first listen to my interview w/ her posted on my blog…
