‘I Feel the Presence of The Lord’

"I Feel The Presence of The Lord" is a personal collection of devotions intended to encourage the reader to seek and see the Lord in every aspect of their life.
The enemy of our souls would have us subscribe to the mentality of being endlessly busy, and therefore it being excusable to relegate God to a Sunday morning church service, if that. Thus, many in our churches today are powerless Christians and/or Christians in whom faith and fellowship with God is sorely wanting.
I Feel The Presence of The Lord is not just a book to be read as part of our daily devotions. It is a collection of thoughts and instructions to inspire the reader to meditate upon the Lord and His Word.

Editor Caught Altering Content

April 19, 2013

For nearly a decade, my syndicated opinion-editorial column has appeared every week on the editorial pages of The Bradford Era newspaper. The managing editor during that time retired in December 2012. She freely admitted that she disagreed with most of my positions. But she was fair. I recall her saying she had an obligation to present both sides to her readership.

In January 2013, the publisher of The Bradford Era begged Mark Ivancic out of retirement to be managing editor and to turn the paper around. At least that’s Ivancic’s version. He has brought a penchant for underhandedness, dishonesty, intimidation, contempt for opinion that doesn’t conform to his, and a blatant disregard for the community and its readership.

If I were given to fomenting racial discord, Ivancic has presented me with the perfect opportunity. In January, out of all the syndicated columnists that appear on the paper’s editorial pages, by Ivancic’s own admission, I was the only one he personally called.

That he wasn’t calling any of the other syndicated writers, told me exactly what kind of person I was dealing with. He was sarcastic, condescending, and most of the time we spoke he boasted about himself. He also did not fail to imply he was successful financially, as if I were supposed to genuflect pursuant to same.

I can say, without fear of contradiction, that if I wanted to make a case for screaming racism that conversation was it. The new managing editor, who is a white male, called none of the other syndicated essayists but me, the black syndicated op-ed essayist on his editorial pages, and is not only sarcastic but also is insultingly condescending in what I perceived to be a bigoted manner.

Not long after that initial conversation, I received an email from him that necessitated my calling. He had taken the position that was tantamount to saying, my being a syndicated writer of opinion meant he would determine not just the verbiage he would “allow” me to use, but, he told me I had no opinions. He told me that, my opinions were not opinions unless he said they were. (A brief discussion ensued)

Now, I mind you, this is a white man telling a black man this, and he is doing it in a harsh, condescending manner. Can you imagine if this were done to a person of color who wanted to make gain based on perceived racial insult?

I discovered that Ivancic is refusing to run my op-eds that are critical of Obama, elite white liberals, and/or opinions concerning racial issues from an American conservative of color perspective.

I received letters from sources who out of fear for their economic safety to remain anonymous. Ivancic is doing his all to prevent my opinions from being published. Even more egregious and insulting to the paper’s readership — he made what many if not most blacks would view as the calculation that he could appease the readership by simply publishing another black face. Ergo, Ivancic started to run op-eds by Clarence Page, one of the most stridently left-wing blacks on the editorial pages today.

But, as I was informed by persons in the community, a person of color on the editorial page wasn’t what they wanted. They wanted the straight-forward, conservative opinion that I presented. A local resident and subscriber to the paper wrote, “It seems this editor has some serious problems with his character.” John Moffett a local resident and subscriber wrote, “I want to get through to him with one of the subjects about loss of readers.” I’m told that phone messages to Ivancic’s office were ignored.

John Moffett also wrote, “Mychal, I am in the process of writing the owner of the Bradford Era. I want to make him cognizant of the situation concerning the articles published in case he doesn’t know. We even have some guy from Miama writing articles about the sewer system in Miami. Who up here cares about that? I hope we can get something done to get it back to the way it was when Marty [the former managing editor] was there. I am going to have about ten people sign it. I am thinking…how to word it…to let him know we want ‘both sides of the story’ in the columns offered in the paper.”

This week, Ivancic committed the most grievous of sins. He deliberately changed my copyrighted, syndicated op-ed to read differently than I had written and intended. He deleted negative references about the media and specifically about managing editors who refused to run conservative opinion. ( the uncorrupted version here )

Ivancic is emblematic of why the mainstream media cannot be trusted. He has been entrusted with the sacred responsibility of keeping the public informed in an honest and truthful manner. Instead, he sets about surreptitiously altering news so as to mislead the public for the purposes of furthering the liberal agenda. He is proof of the lengths to which liberals will go to shape the news in their image.

Coming next: Is the publisher of The Bradford Era encouraging Mark Ivancic’s underhandedness and disrespect for conservatives of color?
