Mainstream Media Are Merchants of ‘Fake News’

The latest grave concern for the mainstream media, Democrats, and Republicans who side with both has become “fake news.” Depending upon whom you speak, “fake news” is of greater concern than the Russians hacking Hillary Clinton and helping Donald Trump win the election (sarcasm intended). If these intellectually dishonest drama queens want to focus on “fake news” let’s have at it.

In January 2005, I wrote that Eason Jordan, the then executive vice-president and chief news executive of CNN, chairman of CNN’s Editorial Board and member of CNN’s executive committee, had by his own admission kept secret that Saddam Hussein’s son Uday planned to murder two brothers-in-law. And Jordan, while keeping Uday’s intentions secret, then engaged in a massive disinformation campaign to the public under the guise of CNN News. (See: Throwing Stones From Inside Glass Houses; 1/18/2005; WND.com)

Fake news is something that CNN, et al, have long indulged in. In 1998 Joseph Farah, the publisher and founder of WorldNetDaily exposed the fake news cooked up and reported as gospel truth by Peter Arnett, April Oliver, and Jack Smith (aided and abetted by CNN’s CEO, president and Eason Jordan). (See: Jordan and the Real CNN Story; Mychal Massie; 4/15/2003; WND.com)

I wrote at that time: This internationally pimped fiction launched (and sunk) the new CNN-Time venture and its flagship program, NewsStand, when they claimed that the Untied States had used sarin nerve gas to murder [our own] soldiers – as well as women and children – and Arnett’s introductory manipulation provided the political means for Saddam to oust the United Nations’ weapons inspectors. CNN’s own military advisor retired U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Perry Smith resigned in protest after his attempts to show the literal truth to CEO Tom Johnson were flatly rejected out of hand.

In the same column I also wrote: On the editorial page of the Wall Street Journal, a fellow journalist bemoan[ed] the fact that he was assured by Jordan that CNN published “the whole truth and nothing but the truth,” to his face.

I also reported in the piece that CNN’s Eason Jordan: “brazenly and habitually lied to fellow journalists about the integrity of his network’s reporting.” The truth as Jordan would later admit was quite different. Jordan admitted that CNN under his watch, “rarely publish[ed] the truth, preferring to parrot the party line of [Saddam] who they personally knew was a bloody maniac with terrible weapons and plans.” Jordan would later admit CNN misreported the news in Iraq so as to retain a news desk there and also retain a favorable relationship with Saddam Hussein.

Another example of “fake news” by those supposedly concerned about same was revealed by Michael Martinez. In 2012 he reported that: “George Zimmerman…is suing NBC Universal for using ‘the oldest form of yellow journalism’ by editing an audio tape of his 911 call to make him sound racist, the lawsuit says.” (See: George Zimmerman Sues NBC Universal Over Edited 911 Call; 12/7/2012)

Martinez reported that the suit stated: “Because of NBC’s deceptive and exploitative manipulations, the public wrongly believes that Zimmerman ‘use(d) a racial epithet’ while describing Martin during the call to the dispatcher on that fateful night.”

NBC claimed, “There was no intent to portray Mr. Zimmerman unfairly.” The problem with their claims of innocence is that “NBC aired various edited versions of the 911 call on March 19, 20, 22, and 27,” the suit said.

Dan Rather, in an epic example of “fake news,” forever destroyed his own credibility and exposed how far Network news programs would go to report lies as fact. In 2004, Rather, on the news program 60 Minutes, did a segment that he reported proved then President Bush had received preferential treatment to enter the National Guard in 1968 so as to avoid being drafted and sent to Vietnam. Rather had documents that were presented as irrefutable proof that political pressure had been exerted to shield Bush from the draft.

But almost immediately after the airing of the segment, the documents were exposed as crude forgeries. Alternative conservative news blogs revealed that the typeface and spacing on the documents were inconsistent with any known typewriter of the early 1970s. When Rather was forced to acknowledge his sin; his producer Mary Mapes and three other producers were fired.

NBC News suspended their Nightly News managing editor and anchor Brian Williams for six months, without pay, after he was exposed making false statements about his experiences during the Iraq war.

Another example of “fake news” is Dateline, the NBC so-called investigative news program. They staged the explosion of a General Motors pickup truck in a designed effort to discredit General Motors in an attempt to validate a knowingly false narrative. General Motors, who also removed all advertising from the network, sued NBC. Then, in a face saving strategy they had Jane Pauley, who had no connection with the false story, read a scripted mea culpa.

That the mainstream media has made an agency of disinformation is irrefutable. That these same purveyors of lies marketed as news are now attacking those of us who in fact are accurately reporting is morally opprobrious and disingenuous, but obviously in keeping with their character.

As I have said before I have not trusted the media since their twisted “reporting” of our efforts in Viet Nam. The passage of time has only verified, deepened and solidified that 50 year old distrust and disgust as we have watched them collectively morph into a very dangerous but effective subversive fifth column. Now they have become even more blatant and lie to us knowing some people will accept and believe whatever they put out as gospel truth. Why do they apparently believe their “freedom of the press” will be protected by any tyrannical system of governing they seem so intent on supporting? History should tell them they will be among the first to be destroyed by that type of government. But learning from history is obviously not their strong suit. The same goes for too many legislators, judges, and other bureaucrats who put acquisition of personal wealth and power above what is best for the nation and people they have sworn to serve. Thank Heaven for the Internet as an alternative source to counter the half truths and outright lies being perpetrated every day even though we cannot believe everything we see there either. Common sense will be helpful in determining the truth but that seems to have become an uncommon virtue.

Joe 2:29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.
Joe 2:30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.
Joe 2:31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.
Joe 2:32 And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

The Lame Stream Media and other lying rags aren’t going to influence the majority who just demonstrated same by giving Clinton, RINOs and Democrats the lumping they deserve. If they continue down the same path, which it appears they intend, They’ll be history too.

  7. John McClain December 20, 2016 at 10:02 am #

Mark Twain once stated “there are three kinds of lies; lies, damn lies, and statistics. Lies are what you tell your wife about being at the bar, or how she looks in that dress. Damn lies are those told for purpose, profit or death, your pick. Statistics are merely long columns of facts which can be listed any way one wants to portray any picture one has in mind, and are the easiest to put through successfully.
Our founders established a Tri-parate government, precisely to have three competing entities, expecting any two to confront the third with any malfeasance. They didn’t trust even this signal arrangement, and established our natural right to Freely confront lies by anyone, and in particular, government, as our first “enumerated Natural Right”, and in doing so, established in our founding Rule of Law, the fact we have “Natural Rights”, and they are endowed by powers far above government, and the Right to deny the lie is properly the first enumerated “Natural Right” of a myriad, which are not enumerated, but can be found by simple logic.
If we want an honest press, we simply must refuse any other, and make passing on the truth, our purpose unless or until someone makes it their living. Then we must ensure we remain honest ourselves, informed, and never, under any circumstances, allow the press to lie and get away with it. Our ancestors allowed it for personal gain, and once accustomed to it, they never turned back.
We had better get our principles back in line, or we will watch this nation fall. It has no foundation at this time, but there is room to work, if we hurry.

Great comment, Gunny. Too many think that this election allows us to become complacent again. Quite the contrary, our work has just begun. I tell folks that we need to work like we are Founding Fathers, because, with the state our country is in currently, our task is almost as formidable as theirs was. Fortunately, we do have a few tools at our disposal that will make our task slightly less cumbersome if we will just employ those tools.

The election was just the first battle of the war to retake our country. The Democrats will fight Trump every step of the way. I wish more people would become familiar with the Constitution, monitor the voting records of their Congressmen and Senators, and vote out the ones who are not upholding the Constitution. Congress is truly the big power player.

Many years ago my father taught me the old addage…believe nothing of what you read, only half of what you see. And added, to always look at oppossing views on controversial matters before making a decision on what to believe. And be ready to admit it if you get it wrong!

    Mychal,
I deplore (pun intended) how the left coins new terms to replace old offensive terms. “Fake News” is just their way of saying “Freaking Lies” which is all they tell. When it comes to the Main Slime Media that is all that comes out of their mouths. There is a reason that any sensible person knows that CNN actually means Communist News Network. And, Fox, at times, is starting to follow in their footsteps.
