The other Saturday evening Eric Michael Dyson sat down with boxing champion Floyd Mayweather. Let me very quickly say that I like Mayweather as a boxer. I know there are people who condemn him and call him a loudmouth, etc., but those are the people who look at the exterior of the man and fail to see what makes him the man he is. His skills are deft to the point of “watch him now,” because when he is gone we’ll be looking for tapes of his fights to admire his skills. His boxing IQ is the equivalent to having PHD’s in defense, counter-punching/power, and in boxing psychology.
But this isn’t a treatise on why I like Floyd Mayweather; it’s an indictment of Dyson. The interview also presented a window into why blacks view Obama as they do.
The reprehensible Dyson showed contempt for modernity as well as moral opprobriousness when he pushed and probed Floyd with racial questions until he found Floyd’s trigger point–Dyson then exploited it for all he was worth. I could see that at first Floyd balked at Dyson’s manipulative questions. Floyd would probably disagree with me, but Dyson played him in the interview. That said, I don’t think Floyd was totally unaware he was being led down a path that was not altogether in his best interest. I would be willing to share privately with Floyd the specifics of what I’m talking about, but I can say this–I’m not wrong.
Dyson used Mayweather to sound bite his own agenda and espouse his own rabid bigotry. But as I said, this is also a window into the way blacks see Obama. During the interview Floyd said: “People want to know how much power [I] got–I can guarantee you this. I show you how much power I got, if I was to fight Manny Pacquiao, I’d let Barack Obama walk me to the ring holding my belt. Can I make it happen, absolutely.” And there you have it.
Obama isn’t respected as leader of the greatest country in the world nor is he respected with the understanding of what the office of president is and means. Rather, he is “liked” as a “cool dude.” There is a lack of comprehension of what being the president means and the proper function of his office. And Obama does nothing to discourage same; instead he uses it as currency to promote himself and steal their money. Obama preyed upon this lack of understanding when a fundraiser was hosted for him in Florida by pro basketball players.
These people, along with the black entertainment industry, do not understand the nature of the office he holds. And as I said, Obama preys upon their adulation. He and his wife behave as if they were on the hill overlooking the hood when in reality they are on the hill, that is home to the House that overlooks the world. There is a difference, and people (especially blacks) need to understand that. He’s not Mr. Shuck and Jive, he’s the president and it is a lack of clear understanding pursuant to what that means that leads blacks in particular to support him. They are unable to separate his color from the office he holds.
They are unable to understand that condemnation for his policies has nothing to do with the color of his skin–it has everything to do with policies that are fundamentally destructive to our traditions, our free-market capitalist economy, and the Constitution. It is this lack of understanding that Obama feasts on.
Consider it this way. If a player is bad for a team and organization, it doesn’t matter if the person is a nice guy, likable, or fun to be around and hang out with. They can be all of those things, but if they are bad for the team the color of their skin doesn’t matter. A player’s financial advisor may be one of the most likable people in the world, but if the athlete awakens one morning to find that his likable financial advisor has made off with all of their money, or even a significant amount of it, the athlete will most certainly view said advisor in a different light. And that light will have nothing to do with the color of their skin–just ask Tony Dorsett, Terrell Owens, or any of a host of other athletes who were wronged by those they liked and trusted.
I suggest Obama be viewed in the same way. It’s not the color of his skin, it’s his policies. To some he may be likable, but his policies are still bad for us all. And like the likable teammate, if he can’t help the team win or if he is just a bad fit, the color of skin doesn’t matter, because melanin doesn’t win championships.

Thank you so much for your articles, truer words were never spoken. This man does not belong in this office or any other office in the US. My bet is on that not only is he ineligible for this office, but that he isn’t even a US citizen period. Why would he need someone else’s social security number? Why would he spend over two million to keep his records of any kind sealed? No one who supposedly has his acomplishments would try to hide that fact, but rather be proud of what he has done if it were true.
kathae: he and his wife aren’t fit to clean the bathrooms in the white house…
Meant to say: I think this clip – from Jimmy Fallon’s show where BO, Jimmy & the Band are “Slow Jammin’” the news – makes your point…. How Presidential… Sheesh! http://www.hulu.com/watch/353970/late-night-with-jimmy-fallon-slow-jam-the-news-with-barack-obama?from=fb_share
snoopsister: I don’t watch those shows…that said you are right…his behavior last night like clinton’s before him shows their commonality…they are devoid of breeding…

This nasty illegal immigrant muslim/communist/socialist needs to be removed from Washington no matter *what it takes*.
noah: a septic truck typically moves the likes of them…
And, Mr. President, take your damn shoes off of our historical furniture!
marilyn: let’s take his feet off the desk for him as we throw him out…and throw his miserable wife out behind him…
Mychal, Well Stated and I agree totally. I’ve been looking at one exec order after another, amazed that our president would take authority away from Congress and make himself King for The Day, each Day. And, to even suggest to the Supreme Court that they have no business questioning his authority about a “democratically voted” pieces of paper about his Health Care that amounts to no more than a good butt wipe for most people, poor and middle class, it was improper and most undignified for a president to ever question the Supreme court’s authority on such. So, BO has called the Legislative Branch and the Judicial Branch of the U.S. Government not capable of following the Administrative Branch’s agenda. He is flying without wings, so to speak. It takes all three branches of government to fly straight and not to the far right or left. The president is a dead give-a-way as to what direction he wants to take America and it is tilting far left off course. The United States was built on a success formula; thus, the Constitution was ‘born.’ The third success line was: Revive morality in our lives, in our businesses, and in our Country. Our Country was founded and built on good morals and the idea was to keep our Country Free of agressors who would take over our lives and send us back to a time before the Revolutionary War. It took our many authors of the Constitution four years to come up with a Constitution that was exactly right for this new country. The thoughts didn’t just appear out of no where. Of all the books the authors read about other countries and their laws, it was the Bible that contained the majority of morals and laws that would work well for Americans to hold onto Freedom and Liberty. All races, nationalities and creeds can live together in the United States as long as they agree to the U.S. Constitution and live by the laws of the Land. If our various races, nationalities and religions can’t agree to do this in a harmonious way, then those who disagree may leave at any time. That’s part of the wonderful thing about Freedom. Those who don’t like freedom and the laws to keep that freedom can leave. No one is holding them here in the United States but themselves. We are not Communists. We are not Socialists. We are not Marxists. WE ARE AMERICANS. So, my question is: If Barack H. Obama Soetoro and his wife, Michelle Robinson Soetoro, and all of their followers do not like America, why aren’t they leaving?
marilyn: because they can take over here w/out being shot at or dragged out back and hung…
Mychal, Thank you first of all for your total trust and faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Then I applaud your bravery and integrity.Fight the good fight and finish the race set before you!
jerry crawford: i keep saying this…its not bravery its willingness…thk you much…
It just amazes me that the Black community are so enchanted with these two (B & M), and all the false promises he made to them last time will just bring this Country to its knees with 4 more years. I am in my 70′s and just cannot believe my Country has evolved to this, socially, culturally, and politically. God help us.
jane leasman: in reality it must if things are to end as prophesied…
BINGO!!!! Michael, i listen to Cspan on radio every morning on the way to work, and i can’t believe how gullible, ignorant, and sheepish human beings can be. I shake my head in disgust and disbelief. The call-in comments that people make are mind boggling. They talk about Obama as if they want revenge on the rich, but in actuality the damage they want to inflict by following O’s policies will create irreparable damage on themselves (because these callers damn sure don’t seem smart enough to be rich).
dave buls: I know…its maddening listening to them talk…sometimes I have to pinch myself…the things that come out of the mouth of some people coupled w/ their political ignorance is appalling…
I don’t understand people who say they like Obama personally. I’ve always perceived him to be cold, arrogant, narcissistic, aloof and devoid of empathy and humor, as well as being a chronic liar. What’s to like?!
carol mason: I know its amazing isn’t it…
I don’t understand how obama can be perceived as being “cool” or anything else worthy of adoration, to me he is a clown, and an effeminate clown on top of it.What for me is really clownish is his affected demeanor when in front of a mostly Black crowd.
carpenter: he’s the reason I wipe my feet after walking through a barnyard…he’s just an act…a creation…the real him is evil as the day is long…
It calls to mind the same strategy Arafat/Mahmoud/Hamas did/is doing w/ the “Palestinians”. If you keep a dog starving just enough, he’s going to turn angry. This is the method tyrants use when all the (mentally) abused mob has to do is question “why am I like this & who is keeping me this way?” Last summer while recuperating from surgery, I read your friend Eric Rush’s book “Negrophilia: from slave block to pedestal” and that was a fantastic expose’ of the mind-set these people have. All they need to do is cut the bonds holding them down & that’s being done by the Democrats. When they took charge of Congress in 2006 & started holding hearings about Mark McGwire using steroids, I turned to my sister & remarked how it’s like the Democrats to turn on the American people-they have that in their history! I would think we, as a nation, has much more to be concerned about than ballplayers on steroids or Presidents who behave like juvenile schoolboys. The few pictures of BHO I’ve seen give one the impression he’s not an achiever & is just getting by. Keep up the superb commentaries, Mychal. P.S. Floyd didn’t do too bad on ‘Dancing w/ the Stars’ a couple years back. Boxers just have that physical agility most of us dream of….
chris: obama and his wife are determined to make whites pay for whatever it is they believe they were wronged…and they are determined to take us into marxist-leninist state…
It is not about skin color period, and for many of us, it never was. I want to thank Mr. Massie for his usual candor and on point commentary. I would hope that many folks who did not and still do not understand what the office of the president means or is, at least have now gotten a clear picture of the damage this man has done even if they like him personally, and everyone will be bright enough on November 6th to place the vote that sends him home to Chicago permanently on January 20, 2013 (and I pray he doesn’t do much more damage before he is gone but I fear he will at warp speed unfortunately).
pat: he is preying upon the ignorance of the college age…most of whom are as clueless as a dirty sock…they just follow whatever their professor says…
This has become so apparent that even Saturday Night Live couldn’t ignore it anymore. For a humorous take on it, go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hL-I_-Uxi6Q.
If the link doesn’t work search “SNL How’s He Doing” to get to the video. As mentioned in other posts, I don’t believe this mindset is confined to race because people from other ethnicities believe Obama can do no wrong either. The standard is definitely set different for Obama by people of all backgrounds.
roseanne lumsden: he could be a mr. potato head skit on saturday night live…and she could be aunt esther…
Mychal, I thank you for your honesty and wisdom. In my books there’s no greater compliment than wisdom, yes, honesty is definitely nice.
Your article does paint a sad picture of why blacks view Obama the way they do.
My humble opinion is our socialist school systems, special interest groups and our own government, keep alive and seething the terrible wrongs done during slavery and segregation – this is in our past. Each new generation of young black students has to relive, in books, films, etc., the agonies of the past. Why wouldn’t they want to go against the white establishment? I just wish the historical teachings in our schools would be truly balanced by the ‘here and now’ of what a good country America is for the young black person. Instead of embellishing the past, the ‘here and now’ should be embellished.
wendy: you make valid points…
This essay is eye-opening in its blatent honesty, and unlike Smogdew, I see it showing Blacks as very much the same sheeple, the rest of most of us are, because I have to consider just how many White folks voted for him for the sole reason of “electing our first Black President” as if we could elect Sharpton, and have done a good deed.
What I find most depressing about this issue is one of the most important aspects of the presidency, is setting the tone and standard for America’s foreign aid, and while I find it despicable, and socialist in nature, it is and has been our national policy for decades, but the “homeboy” persona of obama/sotero is such that Black folks here in America lose sight of what it is to be African, and dependent on the world aid, to eat.
The “shuck and jive” prevents this man from ever demonstrating serious consideration of real world problems, and regardless of words spoken, the focus on obama/sotero by the part of Black community intent on assuring another term is completely without understanding the impact his tenure has had on the whole world, and the moving of the communist agenda forward in a hot spurt, rather than the slow increments up to recently. A “useful idiot” can never be considered a major player in any setting, and he has been well used, and has shown juvenile behavior we’ve never seen in high office before, but at its former height, it has been ridiculed in such as Jackson, Sharpton, and the like, while the solid and well respected Black folks are ridiculed for being “uncle Tom’s”, when they have only shown Blacks are often responsible, stand up people too. I challenge anyone to suggest Mr. Massie’s agenda is not his own, or Thomas Sowell is not thinking with his own mind, making his personal determinations, or that Mr. Bill Cosby didn’t earn a Phd in education, by hard work, and accomplishment.
Mayweather can “shuck and jive” all he wants, because at the end of the day, it’s his ability to land a powerful blow on target which earns him his pay and his place in this world. Anything he does “showboating” takes nothing out of his punch, ask any opponent ever laid low by him.
On the other hand, there is nothing in this world which has been improved, raised up, made better, or even kept on level by the actions of obama/sotero, so his “showboating” is his only accomplishment, and makes him a clown, even while the exact same actions of another man only show a lighter side of one who does have something to be spoken about with seriousness, and cannot be dismissed out of hand.

john mcclain: your mayweather reference is spot on…and therein lies the rub…people are ignorant of the role of the president…they see this bum as cool not as leader of the free world…
You all wonder and are amazed how Mychal is able to shed his light on people and issues which you believe you are familiar with or understood in a way that you suddenly see so much more of what is and has been present all along. How does he do it, we ask or we stop and say why didn’t I think of that. There is no doubt Mychal has a gift for the service in which he labors for us but I assure you that gift comes for the fact Mychal has willingly wrapped himself in the garment of absolute faith in his Lord and savior and when his eyes focus on the people and issues of our day his vision is filtered through the Light of the world given to him by virtue of that faith and his reliance on it.
bill sr: thk you very much…
It’s not just black people who fall for Obama’s antics. It is a lot of white people as well.
kdy: you’re right about that…
Yet, whenever someone, including blacks like LtCol West and you Mychal, speaks out against obama’s policy … the obamabots, lame stream media and liberal/socialists of the country all yell racist till they’re blue in the face. There is money and power to be made from racism. The Democrat Party, Socialist Party USA and Communist Party USA are doing their best to sieze that power and get that money.
I served in the US Army in the early 60s and we were told (as in other branches as well) there are no whites, blacks, yellows. or reds in these ranks. You are all OD Green and you all bleed red. Unfortunately, it seems to me that obama and his minions are setting racial relations back to pre-1960s. I don’t believe any real American wants to see that happen. Obama needs to be removed from that house on the hill and back to whatever it is he has been overlooking.
jim holmes: its because we believe in absolutes and personal responsibility…
Disheartening article. It makes blacks appear very shallow and perhaps they are and also out of touch with reality…
as if their minds are very malleable – so many are sheeple….with minds that change on a dime, depending who’s doing the talking. What controld the way they think? It has to change.
Will anything challenge them to change?
smogdew: its a lack of understanding what the office of president is about…same thing happened w/ clinton…
You are such a breath of fresh air. I Thank you for your honesty and your wisdom. You say what most others cannot say. Keep up the great work.
kdy: that’s not true…I say what others refuse to say and use excuses to defend not saying it…
