Once and for all, there is no such thing as an illegal immigrant.
Why?
Because immigration to the United States is a legal process, ergo, it is by statutory definition, oxymoronic to refer to an immigrant as “illegal.”
The millions of people that have crossed our borders to squat and usurp the rights, privileges, and benefits established and paid for by generations of Americans are illegal ALIENS, a point that cannot be made too often, a concept that must be reiterated incessantly, and a position of clarity that must be demanded of an agenda-driven media and politicos numbed by the anesthetic of political correctness or motivated by egalitarianism.
Any number of government and legal sources verify that obtaining U.S. citizenship is, indeed, a process, and that it is a process which might take several years. The question then becomes, why are we so overrun with aliens and why has not the federal government seen fit to enforce our laws? Moreover, what motivates an administration to sue a state for enforcing its sovereign right to protect itself against unlawful invasion, especially when that same government is derelict in its duties, and its president has abdicated his sworn responsibility to defend our nation at all costs?

The rationalization set forth by minds infected with the disease of moral or normative relativism is weak and intellectually lazy, for once laws are either enforced or ignored by whimsy, they are reduced to random rules and guidelines and cease to serve the nation for which they were originally drawn, bringing in this case our country closer on a daily basis to rogue regimes and tin pot dictatorships we see to our south, in North Korea, and throughout the Middle East.
If we are told that amnesty in any form is in the offing for illegal aliens, I demand to know immediately which other laws we may ignore. Will we now get a free pass for tax cheating, can we begin practicing bigamy, can we ignore speed limits, or can we anticipate the non-prosecution of shop lifting to be raised from its current ceiling of $50.00 to $250.00, or more?
The argument that, well, the aliens are already here, and, gee, we don’t want the world to see us as unwelcoming is pathetically transparent and child-like for its utter lack of substance. Our country welcomes people from throughout the world. We have had for decades upon decades a legal policy about proper entry, so, simply follow the procedure and law and come on board, but do NOT expect access to entitlements for entering the United States without proper authorization. At a great cost to our economy aliens currently slurp untold benefits from the public trough, when in reality as an alien one is NOT entitled to free immunization, one is NOT entitled to a free education, one is NOT entitled to any type of welfare subsidy, and one is NOT entitled to the free health care they now receive.
Did I just say free health care?
Yes.
Have you ever heard of EMTALA? I wish I could tell you it is the latest model in Chevy’s new line-up, but it is not, and is, in fact, part of a highly abused piece of legislation.
It stands for Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act. It was a stealth-like, 1986 ombudsman rider passed by a Democrat-controlled congress and slapped onto the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) which most wage earners heretofore assumed had only to do with extended health care coverage in the event one is disenfranchised from a job due to being fired, downsized, or a company’s demise.
We have all been regrettably uninformed.
In typical excessive-pork-style government overreach, COBRA not only offers an extended health care option, its provisions include tobacco price supports, railroad subsidies, pension plan oversight, disability, and ad hoc funding for the postal service. You read correctly: funding for the postal service.
It gets worse.
The EMTALA rider has guaranteed for 25 years “that all patients have EMTALA rights equally, and cannot be turned away from a medical facility regardless of age, race, religion, nationality, ethnicity, residence, legal status, citizenship, or ABILITY TO PAY.”
In the Jabberwocky parlance of government, this concept is known as an unfunded mandate. Translation: EMTALA applies to all hospitals which receive reimbursement from Medicare, Medicaid, and/or the Department of Health and Human Services. The only hospitals that do not receive the aforementioned subsidies are Shriner’s Hospital for Children and Veterans Administration Hospitals, so, in essence, all hospitals are required by law to treat anyone who walks in the door.
How has that “unfunded mandate” been paid for over the past 25 years? By raising the rates of those who pay insurance premiums, a deftly concealed “tax” that has contributed a substantial burden for wage earners and increasingly hampers the economy.
Taxpayers are largely unaware of how this hoax has been perpetrated upon us, especially with a president consistently misrepresenting or omitting facts in order to obtain a constitutionally precluded seizure of the health care industry. Do not believe for a moment, however, that illegal aliens have been unaware of EMTALA’S existence, for they have known about this freebie from the moment the law was enacted. The combination of ignoring immigration law enforcement along with the growing critical mass of illegal aliens was finally felt last week in Dallas, when Parkland Hospital, the area’s most renowned trauma center, had to close its emergency room for two days because it was awash in aliens using it as a free clinic for maladies as ridiculous as head colds. Trauma patients, instead, were redirected to other medical facilities until such time enough interpreters were obtained to explain that a prominent ER was not a drop-in care facility.
Surveying this mess, the image etched in my mind is of the 48 contiguous states as the Titanic and the gash in its mighty hull represented by Mexico, a point of entry which has allowed a variety of unsavory elements to have crept into our country surreptitiously. Aside from the obvious drain on our country’s economy and government resources by those allowed to live here illegally, Cuba, Colombia, Venezuela, and Nicaragua offer perfect havens for re-staging, and from those locations it is a matter of choice as to which hole in the porous 1969-mile border terrorists will select to continue their mission of infiltrating the United States.

Forget about the lame “occupy” movements seen recently in major cities. In a sorbid and twisted stroke of irony we now have somebody “occupying” the Oval Office, and his methodologies and ideologies mirror those of the unhappy campers, advocating and fomenting discord and dissension. Trite and clichéd sound bites are not intended to provide a basis for negotiation, and framing every philosophical disagreement to one’s political base as a reason to “fight” is an attempt to mask the paucity of ideas as well as his frustration in not being able to fully circumvent the democratic process.

As a single parent when my kids were in school , this makes me mad.
I can’t help but wonder how the tax revenue is divided. There can’t be much left when one segment of society is getting everything free.
I live in Dallas County, and besides paying for my own families health care, which I can barely afford since I am underemployed, I pay Parkland Hosp. tax. This tax goes to pay for illegal alien health care. In fact, in 2009, 98% couldn’t pay and 95% were illegal aliens. Oh, and the hospital hires “Bilingual” people, citizens or not, because those 95% don’t speak English. In fact, one illegal spit in the face of my friend because my friend doesn’t speak Spanish. Did you know colleges, like DCCCD, print newpapers in Spanish telling students how to apply for “free” education, transportation, day care, and travel expense! And now, because the students can’t afford the $100 Hep shot that every college requires of its students, they receive exceptions!!! Hope your kid isn’t going to that school. Disease on the rise, neighborhoods turned into slums, animals running amuck and abandoned. AS roofers went thru to fix roofs destroyed by hail, our insurance companies warn that the illegal alien roofers are watching our comings and going and robberies go up. In 2009, 9,000 newborn Ids stolen and in the hands of illegals. Did you know many school districts teach at least 50% of their classes in Spanish??The Irving ISD fired 18 teachers and replaced them with Spanish speaking teachers brought in from Mexico. Did you knw Indians from India are the 2nd largest group of illegals? My school districy now 31% Indian.
Thank you for writing, Joan, for you illustrate perfectly the epidemic and infestation to which I referred. You see it daily in Dallas and the city and it’s neighbors are overrun. I hope others from non-border states read your excellent and informative post.

I have been making your point for years. There is no such thing as an
“illegal” immigrant, and never has been. This is a typical liberal (now calling themselves “progressives”)mirror-speak. If they do not have any valid view-point on a subject, simply call it the opposite, therefore raising to the level of legitimacy. Some examples: Unborn baby genocide becomes Choice. Treason becomes Compassion. Lies become Truth, etc., etc., ad nauseum.
The media assists with this lunacy as well, and salts these terms into every day language to the point that they somehow become accepted without people stopping to think about what’s really being said.
Would I offend you, Mr. Massie if I said, “DUH”! Not meaning that TO YOU but to the fact that you even have to say/write this! God how can you help us when we won’t even help ourselves?! We keep praying for blessings while all the time we reject the basic blessing of His making us to be ‘reasonable’! Have we gone ‘too far’ so that there is little hope of reason returning? While I know all of what you write to be true, seeing it in writing is very hard to bear. My ‘sad faces’ don’t begin to express my soul’s misery, but when we get SO LOW there is only one place to go – JESUS. Great statement!! Now apply that to the fact that no verifiable proof for Obama’s eligibility has yet to be provided, in spite of Dr. Orly Taitz’ dogged pursuit of the truth in that matter. In fact, there is a mountain of evidence that Obama is a fraud, imposter and traitor. Wannabe Dictator Obama and all his team of Democrats, Republicans and Justices have reduced the Constitution and Rule of Law to whimsy and personal interpretation. Judge Mahili, Atlanta, has ordered Obama to appear in court on January 26th along with others from his administration with documentation subpoenaed by Dr. Taitz. If Obama is not able to bully (as he has done all others) Judge Mahili into submission before then, it should be interesting.
I wholeheartedly applaud Judge Mahili. I only hope he’s prepared for an avalanche of paper-thin legal motions and the inevitable notification that he is the subject of an IRS audit.
Right on, Mycal! As one who lives in a state flooded with illegal aliens, I can tell you that I’ve often wished I could sneak into Mexico, become a citizen and then sneak back into the US – I’d be making a way better living if I had to pay no taxes, could get my money in cash, let the government pay for my groceries, clothes, education, healthcare and more! People have started balking at the A word as if it’s in the same name as the N word. They just don’t realize how offensive, that in and of itself, is to those who are being judged on the color of their skin as opposed to their actions. It’s much nicer to refer to them as “undocumented workers” although, many don’t have to work – the benefits they get in the US are worth their weight in gold! The media should report the fact that true immigrants who pay taxes and contribute rather than suck on our economy, whether once illegal or not, do not support aliens who come here illegally and stay with no intention of becoming part of our country, but rather as parasites that sit on the surface and fill their bellies full of what this country has to offer. America is like a machine – it must have input to continue to output. Now, if anyone has any questions about how it actually affects us in our day to day life: Come to Arizona, have a medical emergency, rush to the hospital and get ready to sit. And sit. And wait. And sit and wait your turn as a waiting room full of people – clucking like hens in a foreign language – get their kids in for that runny nose or monthly checkup. See, Mychal, you are very right – people forget that hospitals can’t turn ANYONE away from being treated. I’m certainly not begrudging anyone emergency healthcare – Alien or American. Just saying that If you don’t have money, or don’t want to spend it on doctor’s appointments, just going to the ER is a cheap and easy way to take what you want. Hey, it’s FREEEEEEE! Jackpot!
An ethical media (another oxymoron) would jump at the chance to expose the waiting room nightmare. Without factual and unbiased coverage non-border state citizens haven’t a clue.

Part of being on the correct side of an issue is realizing the opposition will resort to name-calling when they have little else on which to stand, as is the case with xenophobe and inhumane. If that’s all they’ve got, let’s keep up the pressure.
