We Are Not Helpless

Tea Party people, America is our home, we pay the bills for its upkeep, its repairs, and for whatever remodeling needs it may have. We are responsible for putting food on the table of millions of people here and hundreds of millions of people around the world. We shoulder the medical expenses for those who are unable to provide same for themselves. We pay for people to be educated and our ancestors and current family members fought/fight for the rights and privileges of our citizenry and the freedom of people around the world.

And yet when it comes down to standing up and defending ourselves against the very things we do for others, people are fearful. The very people who fight tyranny in other countries and who fought against injustice here, will roll over and curl up in a fetal position, moaning don’t hurt me. We can spot a crooked salesman on the other side of town, and yet, people trust their all to politicians and political parties with proven track records of failure and dishonesty.

For decades people will send the same worthless political hack back to office expecting him/her to do something different. But these same people will surrender all further initiative to get involved, based on a phone call that went unanswered or a letter that wasn’t responded to. Or even worse, many people are afraid of being called a name.

People have bought the wrong version of government and politics. People complain, but they refuse to acknowledge their culpability and responsibility for what this nation has become. People claim they want their country back and they claim to be praying for God to intervene. But what they won’t admit is that what they are really saying is they envision going to bed one evening and awaking the next day to their version of utopia.

I personally believe that the zeitgeist which people claim they want is akin to the vision of Santa’s workshop in the mind of a child. People are loathe to trust a taxi driver or plumber, but they will send money and chant the mantra of whatever the party hierarchy tells them to. The other day, a person told me they were too busy to pay attention to the news, some weeks ago another person told they didn’t trust any politician, so they were just going to wait and vote for whoever got the nomination. I’m not making it up, I could share even more bizarre comments people have made.

We are in a war, and people who claim to care need to understand that. We are in a war with politicians fighting to retain and/or regain their political ground, and they are not about to rollover and surrender their personal gains to the citizenry. We have got to realize that the party hierarchy will lie, obfuscate, mislead, and resort to any method necessary to keep their positions and their rule over us.

For the last 15 years, I have been one of those shouting wake-up and standup. I’ve said that the only thing we are to politicians is money and votes. I urged people to withhold both until the pols started listening to us. But with every election came the lies and scare tactics of party hierarchy, and each time, people fell for it.

The problem is that our enemies are fierce and relentless. They give their money, and their party and candidates do as they are told. The Alinskyites, the progeny of Margaret Sanger, the various alphabet racial groups, ad nauseum, understand their mission. They are in lockstep with their leadership and willing to shout down whoever of their ilk doesn’t go along with them.

We cannot trust the media, and we darn sure cannot trust the Republican Party in its current incarnation. Democrats were not alone in the abrogation of our Constitutional rights. Democrats alone are not responsible for the spending spree that led us to Obama. Democrats alone are not responsible for abortion on demand, homosexual marriage, race-based discrimination (i.e., affirmative action), and government healthcare. Democrats are not singularly responsible for the EPA, the Department of Energy, and the Department of Education. Not only did they have the help of Republicans, but they had the help of many Republicans now in office, who are vying for our support.

It is time that we awaken to the threat that confronts us, and respond in kind. We must resist and refuse to be led by a handful of corrupt individuals who have managed to subvert the greatest political system in history. We are not helpless and it’s time we stop behaving as though we are.

The reason Karl Rove hates the Tea Party movement is that we are a direct threat to business as usual for him and his cohorts. The reason Obama and Pelosi talk down to us and belittle us is that they understand if we ever coalesce we will be an unstoppable force. That said, the reason politicians want to get involved with us is that they see the opportunity to subvert our effort and undermine the true will of the people.

Time is running out, the election is just around the corner. And if the Lord should tarry, it is up to us to send the message that we may not win everything this time around – but that this is a summer of change and that change has begun in the hearts, minds, and souls of We the People. We must send the message that we will not turn back. We must send the message that we fear God not them.

Amen and Amen, Mychal! Also, hooray for all the people who have left comments here. You and Mychal are the people Madison, Jefferson, Adams, Washington, Lincoln and all those who dedicated their lives to making this the country the great nation it is, would be standing with today. They would shun the company of men and women who care little for their sacrifices and devotion to the uniqueness of America. Republican party leaders you are hypocrites and cowards. You are more interested in protecting your own power and privilege while insulting and showing disrespect to the very people who gave you that power. You, along with the Democrats, have forgotten who your boss is: the American people! We gave you the power and we can take it back. Yes, I believe like others that God is in control, but I also believe he expects us to use the talents and strengths he gave us to fight what is wrong and he is very disappointed when we don’t use them. So, I no longer have much patience with people who shake and cower in the presence of such an ungrateful group of arrogant so-called representatives of the people. I write my representative whether he is considerate to reply. I figure if I write often enough eventually he will realize I’m out here and I am serious. Thanks to all of you patriotic brothers and sisters for your boldness. It was people like you who defeated the British and it’s time to take back this country from the same kind of tyrants. God Bless!

I appreciate your encouraging words. I have been warning family and friends that Democrats and Republicans are not the “friends” of the people for years. Some are content to “bury their heads in the sand” and meekly submit to tyranny without a fight. I have been accused of being obsessed with the current state of affairs in the United States. They want to be entertained and not face reality. So many citizens believe that government “free” is free or the “rich” is paying for it. They don’t realize that the government is the tax payer and not a separate entity. . Is it possible that most in this country have been accustomed to having government control us for our own “good” in almost every aspect of life; that we are not willing to fight?

  5. John McClain April 3, 2012 at 2:15 pm #

As a retired Marine, I have spent two decades doing for others, what my fellow Americans won’t do here at home. I grew up knowing these truths solely because I was a “Navy brat”, and as such, I saw how the rest of the world lived, and realized I had to know how America was governed, because it is like no other Nation.
In returning home, for the last time, even having been active against the central government since high school, and remaining active throughout my career, I was shocked to discover just how much had actually been taken over by government, and how close the party had closed its two ends together.
We established a whole new paradigm when we wrote and petitioned our King, then got tired of no action, and wrote a Declaration of our rights, and what way a government must be to be legitimate, and we must never forget, from the moment that Declaration hit the street, we declared war on the whole world, because we declared every single other government illegitimate, and criminal in its disposition, by our simple Declaration.
We did not beat the Greatest Empire which ever arose, we merely outlasted their depradations, having taken away their most recent major resource, the colonies, and they failed to appreciate what that meant, and what had to be done to win. We won by default, by the failure of the British Empire to adapt.
Our Constitution was not written for 1789, or for thirteen former colonies, but it was written specifically for The American People, who believe rights are Endowed, natural law is self evident, and truth only exists where it can be proven.
It was not written specifically for pioneers, or Presbyterians, or even for Christians, but precisely for people who believe God is our Creator, and that we were both intended to live peacably, and are capable of doing so.
Science has brough progress and change in how we do things, but it has not changed the nature of People, one iota. It is suggested that our Nation, with some 300 million, is somehow different, and the concept of limited government, the Sovereignty of Citizens, and natural unalienable rights, are not possible today because of the change science, progress, and population has brought us.
What is ignored is the simple fact that Man has not changed, regardless of all the changes which have occured around him. We can look at eight thousand years of written history, and seen the finding of copper, the discovery of bronze, and the subsequent enlightenment as to how to make bronze, didn’t change man’s nature. Iron, and its companion steel, and the learning to make it, changed only what we made our tools of, but by no means what we have used those tools for, and how they work.
The entire work of the Declaration was stating the nature of Man, and what Man has to do to claim and to hold those rights we see as natural, and use logic to see and identify them.
The entire work of writing the Constitution was to invent a form of government which can be kept under control by its owners, and which can do nothing to anyone, which is not acceptable to everyone.
In this logic, the exactitude of our Constitution is as applicable, directly and exactly, today, as it has been at any time since it was written, and only fools can suggest it has lost its purpose and place in the world, simply because the world is more complex.
We have arrived at the tipping point, the place where we either restore our strength as being The Nation, We, The People, and take back our control, and restore our Nation as it was established, by risking everything we have and are, or, we allow those who were peeved at our denouncing all their hard work and labors, and have spent two centuries fighting against our principles, and making us into a copy of all the rest, and preventing us from being what we were established as.
Everything else is meant to distract, divide us, make us less than willing to restore the original Nation, and the principles which are the only good reason for doing so. We can choose to elect the singular candidate who has stood for forty years on the principle we must return our Nation to being under the law, or we can elect anyone else, and continue our fall. The only other possible option is for those who will not give up, to rise up in arms, when not enough are willing to turn our Nation upside down, and do what was only done once before, and take our chances at making it happen by force of arms.
It is too late to do anything half-way, it is all the way, or failure.
    Sincerely,
    John McClain

Amazingly truthful and transparent post! We are guilty of absolute blind trust and we must unite, stand up and be counted. I am giving NO money to anyone this year…it is all hoopla! Thanks for the reminder to stand the course and “fear God” not the media, the politicians or those who are willing to hand over our great country on a platter laced with servitude. We are children of the King of the Universe and we need to behave as His heirs.

Another excellent commentary Mychal, but you didn’t mention muslums in there. All over this country muslums like in Europe are making demands for sharia and burqa wearing and sueing businesses and this government invites more of these leaches to immigrate all the time and anyone that complains is shouted down.I’m sick of it, and them.

Hallelujah, Mychal! As today is primary day in Maryland, I’m chomping at the bit to go to the polls after work & make my voice heard. Thanks for getting me fired up!! Contrary to what the media tells us- Maryland is more of a conservative state if we take away the I-95 corridor of Prince Georges county, Baltimore City & county & Montgomery County (to an extent). Western MD & the Eastern Shore are very conservative, but the higher populations keep throwing us into the Democrap side. After the 2004 elections, there was some talk about the state splitting, but nothing came of it. Now talk is about blOw-Malley being named as BHO’s new running mate. If that happens, our apologies to the rest of the nation. It was once said that Maryland was the California of the East Coast-tho’ we did well w/ Bob Ehrlich as Governor but he was still too moderate. Some of us remember well when he almost had the State take over Baltimore City Schools (under blOw-Malley’s pitiful leadership) as they were failing miserabley. Despite our track record of having loser Democrats at the state level, us MD tea-partiers keep fighting back!

  10. Ben April 3, 2012 at 10:09 am #

Excellent article and so true. It is indeed unfortunate that the majority of the voting pubic are simply thrown to and fro by the headlines they see in the media. That goes for the government propaganda as well as the so called “fair” cable channels. No one seems to actually fact check the opinions and slants of the media.

We are becoming a citizenry made up of dumb and dumber.

    • DLB April 4, 2012 at 12:20 pm #

That isn’t totally fair – I feel powerless rather than uninformed. We aren’t all becoming dumber (although I realize that element does exist), I think we are just being surrounded and outnumbered by people who have a different agenda. The message I get from Mychal is to unite with people of like mindedness to let our numbers be known. I just hope those numbers are still large enough to make a difference.

      • Mychal April 4, 2012 at 4:40 pm #

I really enjoy your columns. However I agree with Nholiway. I think Ron Paul is the only true patriotic American in the field. Is there a reason you will not endorse him? He has said the same things over and over that you said in your column. If something is not done soon we will lose our country to the UN and IMF. (who has bankrupted every country they have helped)I challenge you to stand up and be counted as a strong supporter of ron Paul.

    • Mychal April 4, 2012 at 5:40 pm #

      mary: I disagree w/ his foreign policy…

  12. n holiway April 3, 2012 at 9:33 am #

Mr Massie, this is the best rant so far! I would love to see a few people of your stature get behind & endorse Ron Paul. He’s been saying everything you just said in this article for quite a long time. The GOP Godfathers don’t want him because they know he will stop the flow of corruption that makes them rich. Obama doesn’t want to face him because he knows that head to head he would lose (Ck the polls) There are even reports that Obama put out a media kill on him & I believe it since the only time you see him mentioned in MSM is when they’re trying to paint him as a “kook”! The other 3 candidates are merely more of what we have in Obama. Not one of them has condemned the NDAA, but Paul has said he’d repeal it & the Patriot Act. He’s the only hope for us & our country. You’re a great patriot Mr Massie!

      n holiway: thk you…

  13. Betrayed April 3, 2012 at 8:19 am #

I agree with you, Mr. Shull. Voting seems to not really work, since there aren’t any candidates that have morals, ethics and good character. Voting for the lesser of two evils…well, jeesh, look where that has gotten us over the last 20 years…..my question is this…how do we correct that mistake that is in the White House now??? Voting in November won’t work, as some kind of chaos will be caused in the Fall for him to “suspend” elections until all is calm….call me crazy, but evil is a foot and Obama is at the center of it. God’s intervention is the only way I see out…..am I wrong?

    • Mychal April 4, 2012 at 5:47 pm #

betrayed: voting seems not to work because people keep voting the same worthless candidates back into office…and/or they allow the party hierarchy to tell them how to vote…

  14. dick shull April 3, 2012 at 8:09 am #

I admire your outlook on our situation. But, agreeing with you about the things we should NOT do, I am awaiting a recommendation for what we SHOULD do. Other than “rant” and rave to the same people who are causing so many problems—those people that WE have elected–what other actions can you suggest that would actually make an impact, and change things. I believe that the very people who are put in charge of the “selection” process are just as accountable as those unscrupulous people who ultimately get elected. After all, we are usually given a choice of voting for the least bad of the bad–like putting on our cleanest dirty shirt.

    • Bill Sr. April 3, 2012 at 9:26 am #

Dick, I understand how your feel.
I have not given up the fight but a clear path to victory is certainly not obvious to us at this time. What is clear to us is that the enemy has the upper hand and its many forces are rattling their sabers in our faces. Their leader, who believes he has been enthroned not elected, has become so emboldened by his own conviction of his majesty that he believes he can dictate to us, our representatives, our governors, our religious leaders, our businesses, and now even to the Supreme Court which is the only branch of government he does not control. So convinced of his absolute authority and moral superiority and armed with an adoring media he is granted instantaneous center stage to renounce all challenges to his regime and its agenda even those coming from men of God and the faith based community when they have been threatened with the loss of liberty by his administration.
This war came to us in our sleep of silence as we watched the enemy methodically surround us trampling our god given rights and constitutional freedoms supported by the Judeo-Christian values which formed the greatest free nation designed by mankind. We were ever conscience of foreign threats or intrusion on us and always found the strength to subdue those enemies but this enemy evolved from within like a cancer to our character. By the time it was fully diagnosed and the threat recognized we had already been diabolically deformed and redesigned. If we are to turn the tide of destruction brought on by our own neglect of duty and lack of moral fortitude major surgery is in order and the pain we feel now is only the beginning for there is sure to be more painful days ahead as we enter into the battlefield to save this nation, our freedom, and the worlds last hope for civil justice and order.

      • Mychal April 4, 2012 at 5:45 pm #

bill sr: sleep of silence indeed…but in every revolution there are hardships and disappointments…but our nation succeeded because our founding fathers did not let those disappointments deter them from the goal…championships aren’t won because a team has a perfect season…but because they refuse to let down…

    • Mychal April 4, 2012 at 5:52 pm #

dick shull: and that’s where the problem begins…we cannot be afraid to lose if we are to win…replacing obama w/ romney would be like replacing hitler w/ mussolini…yet people out of fear of obama will vote for romney…we must be smart and selective in our battles…not keep choosing the lesser of two evils because we are afraid…soldiers may be afraid but that doesn’t prevent them from doing their duty…we vet and support candidates that we choose…we stop just going along…and wringing our hands saying what can we do…how many times do you have to reelect boehner and mccain before you realize they’re both bad…
