Why reward failure?

Men and women are sent to Congress to do a job – ergo it’s reasonably fair to expect them to do…well…to do a job. I’m not going to cite chapter and verse, but besides strutting around like a little banty rooster, with a tan and John Edwards hairdo – exactly what kind of leadership has Boehner shown?

Obama is oozing favorability like the old Chevy Corvairs leaked oil. While it’s always possible, at this juncture it’s highly unlikely another Democrat will enter the race against him. So, why isn’t every Congressional Republican who is breathing, filling the airwaves and news outlets with deafening eruption of facts.

I know some will say that Congress is holding hearings. I say big deal. Congressional hearing are nothing more than taxpayer funded kabuki theater. As I tweeted yesterday – when was the last time a Congressional hearing resulted in someone going to jail? When is the last Congressional hearings resulted in more than E.P.O.P., i.e., “extended periods of pontification” before C-SPAN cameras for those on the committees?

Congressional Republicans have not had a better opportunity to factually fillet an inept president since Jimmy Carter. Instead of leading we have Boehner walking around with Eric Cantor and a phalanx of junior Republicans, who bump into one another whenever he makes a sudden stop.

Even with the announcement that the SCOTUS would hear arguments on Obama’s forced healthcare debacle, Congressional Republican leadership is silent. We see Solyndra and the perhaps as many as another eight, if not more, green tech companies who were given hundreds of millions in taxpayer bailout money, even though the private sector had refused them. Private sector investors refused them because they knew the companies were doomed to failure, but Obama thought it okay to give them our money, just in time for them to go belly-up. Does anyone with a brain believe that Energy Secretary Steven Chu made the decisions to dole out monies to companies like Solyndra on his own? What about Fast and Furious – do you really believe a border ATF office made the decision to distribute guns to drug cartels in Mexico? You would have to believe in the tooth fairy to believe that Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and Attorney General Eric Holder weren’t involved. The level of probable criminality is astronomical – why aren’t Congressional Republicans doing more to expose this and bring it before the people?

Where are the Republicans on the Keystone Pipeline? Obama’s refusal to approve a source that would create thousands of jobs and point us toward energy independence should be the first words from their collective mouths, yet they are for practical purposes silent.

They were sent there to do a job and the only thing they are doing is growing rich at our expense. I for one am tired of paying and rewarding a do nothing failure of a Congress. The so-called battles Republicans are fighting aren’t being fought for us – they’re an inter-party turf war for the preservation of political power.

Aided and abetted by feckless presidents and Congressional corruption we see the collapse of the financial markets, we see Sarbanes-Oxley, we see Dodd-Frank, we see failed bailouts, we see jobs being sent overseas, we see government agencies openly refusing to allow American businesses relocate, we saw Obama shutdown the fishing industry and rebuke judicial directives. Do Congressional Republicans want us to believe that these things and the host of others aren’t enough for Congress to bring action against this Administration?

And if they won’t do it now, when will they do it? As mentioned, they were sent there for a reason and they’ve forgotten that reason. Thus, I argue it is time to re-teach the lesson by replacing as many Republicans as possible. We expect Democrats to behave like Democrats, but we have a higher level of expectation for Republicans. And we should hold them to it or replace them.

And let me throw one more thing into the mix before I conclude. With Republicans behaving this way now, what can we reasonably expect them to behave like if Romney is elected. Good ol’ boy cronyism would soar to untold levels. Is this or that what we as responsible voters really want?

Great Rant, Mychal. Much corruption and dishonesty on the “Hill.” “You pat my back mine and I’ll pat yours” is the rule of the day. Good bills that should be passed are bogged down with junk thrown in by various politicians. Part of the problem is that our elected government officials have been in power far too long. Terms in office need to be defined/limited and no pay raises unless approved by the People. You know, be rewarded on ‘merit.’ No big retirement pay for serving the American Country for x number of years. Term up, go home and continue to work in the private sector. There are many current rules and regs that need to be enforeced/changed. Politicians “use” the government system to their own State’s or personal advantage and do not look at America as a whole. Over the years, Socialists gave up pretty much on entering the presidential race because it was discovered that the Democratic far left agenda became the Socialist’s agenda. Years ago, the Democratic party introduced a number of great bills. Among other bills, “Voting rights for Women” and the list continues. The Republicans fought that bill and many others that were actually good for Americans. But, that has changed and we Americans are now faced with “the far right” and “the far left.” What a pity our government system has become very corrupt and inept.

Mychal, just to much good stuff here,I am so upset with the repubs that I am seriously thinking of leaving, and becoming a registered independent. Don’t get excited i’m not going to waste my vote, just don’t want to be bothered by a bunch of fat cats calling themselve
right wingers. I personally don’t think most of them know their right from their left. I don’t think we will have a chance come election, because mr. o, is going to take us out of the game with executive power. It started early in 2009 with the szar movement and
continued today with the failier of the ” supercommitee ” and him jumping right on his high horse. the power he put in place before he formed the “supercommitee”. Buy the way I finally found something I dissagree with you on. I do believe in capital punishment, as do all of our enemies, and I would be honored to be the hangman!

Please don’t get me wrong here, I am NOT excusing the abysmal lack of spine exhibited by the republican “leadership” in pointing out the radical left wing agenda of the democrats that is systematically and purposely destroying the America we once knew. There are some in the GOP that do not knuckle under to the good ol’ boys running the republican party that seem intent on maintaining the corruption of the status quo but they have a HUGE stumbling block to overcome in trying to get their message to the people. They must not only stand up and publicly contradict the slimy slander spewed out by the msm but must quickly get more proficient in using the alternative media to reach people that can and will think for themselves. The so-called main stream media is a major player supporting the blatant, outright treason that is being committed against “We the People” on so many fronts it can boggle the mind to try to enumerate all of them and there isn’t room here. Currently much of their slanderous lies are focused on would-be GOP presidential candidates but they do not hesitate to verbally crucify anyone attempting to espouse a return to conservative constitutional government. I have clipped a portion of an AMERIPAC email received today as an example showing what I am trying to say about the msm:
Take a look at what “accurate” and “impartial” reporting looks like to the radicals…
·The Democratic Underground: “[Newt Gingrich] is the face to launch a thousand nightmares.”
·Mother Jones: “Mitt Romney is a shameless panderer.”
·The Washington Post: “Herman Cain strives for new level of anti-Muslim buffoonery.”
·Newsweek dubbed Michelle Bachman “The Queen of Rage.”
·The Texas Observer: “Rick Perry’s anti-science streak is nothing new.”
·Politics USA: “In Rick Santorum’s mind, it’s okay for Rick Santorum to say anything he wants, no matter how stupid, offensive, or hateful it might be.”
·Real Time’s Bill Mayer said: “[John Huntsman] is getting out of the same clown car as the rest of them.” He then used an explicit phrase to describe Huntsman.
·MSNBC’s Chris Mathews falsely said, “Ron Paul said he’d let someone die if they failed to pony up for health insurance.”
Even worse, when our GOP candidates try and defend themselves from the liberal abuse they get crucified. There’s NOTHING the dems won’t go after – from children to spouses and even physical looks – everything’s fair game.
    END OF CLIP.

With scum like those above having free reign to say anything they want whether it is slander, libel, or even flat-out lies, members of the GOP must find and use effective alternate means to get their message out. The leftwing talking heads and those pulling their strings from behind the scenes are doing great damage and if the day ever comes that the traitors in this administration and, yes, also those in the GOP, are brought up on charges for the crimes they are committing, there are certainly ones in the media that should be included on the list of those betraying America.

  5. John McClain November 21, 2011 at 1:04 pm #

The saddest fact of all, is if the first quarter of the listing of actions were pulled out, for brevity’s sake, and used alone, without any of the remaining used to further support the contention the entire executive branch is in the midst of committing open treason, any honest court would find every member of the executive branch guilty, and would have to jump through hoops to get enough gallows built and set up in decent time to have a simultaneous hanging, as the Constitution demands for such crimes.
Perhaps it’s the fact that to be fair, we really need some couple thousand gallows errected, so there would be minimal waiting in line, to clear out all the treasonous Traitors firmly ensconsed in D.C., and that’s just too many Gallows for most people to see in one place at one time.

Mychal, we have been asking the question, “Where are the Republicans”? for over a year now. Thanks for your “rant” on the subject. I was a Michael Steele supporter prior to his reign and was so disappointed with his lack of accomplishment. However, with Boehner’s ascension to the post, it appears the problem is systemic within the Party. The conclusion we have come to: there is no difference in the the Parties. I feel you have made that point in your “rant” – and I appreciate your insight! It truly is an “inter-party turf war” and we are simply a by-product of their self-aggrandizing pissing contests!

    Mychal,

This chicanery and criminal freeze frame by our loser government is brewing more and more anger with the American public, including myself. Washington, with its drugged out bubble infested bullcrap, is obviously not aware that there is a growing force of anger out there. Occupy Wall Street should be an obvious sign of imminent danger. I guess people don’t know when to quit. Obama himself, as well as Bush, are solely responsible for this chicanery. Another two years of this and we might have civil war. One of the reasons North Africa came apart is simply because the people couldn’t take it anymore and revolted.

I recommend people stop filing taxes altogether, to end this absolute criminal activity.

Ya know, the fact is that Republicans Have attempted to act to resolve our financial mess, the economy, and unemployment, especially the House of Reps. There are at least 15 proposals submitted by the House to the Senate which has either blocked or failed to even address them. Where the party falls woefully short is in publisizing these efforts and the intransigence of Harry Reid and his do-less minions. If all of this was on the front page every day in bold print, Joe Citizen, even if liberal, would force Congress to act in order not to receive their overdue enema in November 2012. Democrats are adept at publicizing their issues (as well as lying about who is responsible for what.) Even Chris Matthews took Obama to task recently (see the U Tube video) for failing to act.

We need to crank up the printing presses (so to speak,) make all of our efforts known over and over, and especially hammer to do-nothing Dems in the Senate for their obstructionist policies.

I hope Ovomit runs in 2012; my worst fear is that he will step aside (possible but unlikely due to his narcissism) in favor of The Hillary B****.

I never know whether to start reading posts at the top – or the bottom.

We need a system in place where we can go to the polls every few years and vote these leeches out of office, then vote more people back in – to become more leeches, then vote them out…

WAIT! We’re already DOING that! It seems what we need to find are honest, straightforward, trustworthy individuals of moral fiber who have real character, and vote THEM into office. NOT SELF-SERVIANT, MICRO MINDED, TRAINED POLITICIANS! I believe and education is great! But a degree of any kind having to do with the Political arena in THIS country should automatically disqualify an individual from running for public office!

Give me a street smart, upstanding, thinking man who knows his mind and speaks it, with an ear that listens, and the ability to HEAR!

    Then you’ve got a winner!

  10. Ben November 21, 2011 at 9:42 am #

The Republicans, although they have no media support, are incapable of taking a strong opposing view and slamming the Dems. They couldn’t win an argument if the Dems were only using pantomime! They could be accused of anything and their only response would be, “We did not, but we will try to do better”. We need to get the RINOs out of office. The corruption may be irreversible. Throw them all out. We need to stop listening to the lame street media and even that so called “fair and balanced” spin zone.

Everything Obama has done in office makes perfect sense if you look at it from Cain’s perspective. See my webpage for a basic summary of what Cain’s was trying to say.

Cain said it in the Spartanburg, SC debates. He said something like, “Obama has been on the wrong side of every foreign policy decision. He has been on the Muslim Brotherhood side.”

Now Cain is the first republican candidate to need security protection. What I believe Cain was saying is that Obama is very guilty of TREASON and trying to destroy America for the Muslim Brotherhood. Cain’s reward, to try to awaken the American people, was to be awarded the honors of being the first republican candidate to need secret service protection.

I would recommend that you never use the words Muslim Brotherhood in any debate or article. The terrorist organization, the Muslim Brotherhood, will scream that it is a religion, instead of a 90 year old terrorist organization dedicated to destroying America. Always refer to them as Al-Ikhwan which sounds to most Americans as what they truly are, a terrorist organization.

If you follow the money trail from Al-Ikhwan to our politicians, you will clearly see those republicans and democrats that are Anti-American and trying to destroy America and have received massive amounts of money from Al-Ikhwan.

The terms Liberal, Conservative, Democrat or Republican mean nothing any more. The only thing that separates those guilty of treason against the United States is the money trail that lead directly to the Al-Ikhwan.

Both parties have accepted these terrorist funds and Obama invited the terrorists, on numerous occasions to the White House. Obama placed them in high positions in his staff and the administration and even in the Homeland Security where they are already being investigated by congress for treason and breaching national security.

This all sounds like a wild conspiracy theory but if America does not wake up to Cain’s reality, we will find ourselves just like Italy after 18 years of Al-Ikhwan leadership. Bankrupt and powerless.

There is one more important thing to understand in the confusing bi-partisan puzzle. This is all about oil. Not American oil. America has always paid a fair price for the oil we get and we have the world’s largest reserves of oil. It is about Al-Ikhwan and Saudi Arabia oil running dry. They have no more income and have created a welfare state reaching from Africa to Asia. They have no other source of income except to get if from Europe and America.

Thus the motivation for Al-Ikhwan’s Grand Jihad which means to destroy the West from the inside. They are way ahead in their goal in Europe and in the Arab Coalition. Notice how there are 56 Arab States in the Arab Coalition and Obama wants America to be the 57th. He has publicly stated he has visited all 57 states.

But this is all about oil and Traitors in the United States Government trying to bankrupt America.
Please read the web site ObamasGrandJihad.com.

You know Mychal, maybe I’m an idealist but I thought that we elected our representitives for the purpose of representing us. The people who elected them. Not representing just their party and their cronies and excluding the people. They get into office and then it’s a different kind of party. A mutual scratch each other’s back party. A fill your pockets and make decisions to benefit yourself and your special interest group parties. How to get re-elected parties. I for one am getting sick and tired of funding parties I’m not invited to. I think we need to throw a, ” get the bums out of office party.” Every one of them. All new ones can’t be much worse until they learn all the dirty tricks. If all the corupted ones are gone there will be no one left behind to teach them dirty politics. Maybe by then the voting people will be invited to the party to show them how it”s done. Oh well! One can dream.

    • Mychal November 18, 2011 at 10:34 pm #

ginny: you’re not an idealist…I’m committed to the same belief…and believe in the same measures to remedy…bounce them out every election until they get the message that not representing us is not acceptable..

      • LaineyG November 18, 2011 at 11:05 pm #

Mychal, speaking of no representation, I have a question. Our constitution states there shall be no taxation without representation. Doesn’t the formation of the super committee for purposes of determining financial solutionss involving taxation violate that clause? The super committee is composed of 12 legislators which come from only 12 states. Therefore, the other 38 states are without representation. By nature of this, it can arguably said that the government is guilty of taxation without representation and in violation of the constitution. Considering this, it would seem justifiable for citizens to withhold paying their taxes. Of course by virtue of the administration funneling money to planned parenthood against the wishes of those who are pro-life, once again we have an issue of taxation without representation since they are unwilling to stop using our tax dollars for a purpose to which we do not subscribe.

        • Mychal November 18, 2011 at 11:20 pm #

laineyg: I’m not sure about that albeit I understand your argument…my argument w/ the supergroup is that it begs consideration that it operates outside the legislative bodies constitutionally authorized to legislate and establish policy…our tax dollars going for that which certainly I am opposed to, i.e. abortion is a different argument…it has to do w/ the government having gotten involved outside of its enumerated powers…

          • LaineyG November 18, 2011 at 11:33 pm #

Thank you your reply Mychal. I agree with you, the abortion issue is another topic all together and I should have kept it out of the concept I was trying to point out. The super committee of 12 deciding matters concerning taxation eliminates the participation of the other 38 legislators (states) therefore, those who reside in those states are suffering taxation without representation. Do youn think this argument has merit?

          • Mychal November 18, 2011 at 11:36 pm #

lainyg: as I shared…I would be inclined to think the argument should center on unelected legislating…

    • LaineyG November 18, 2011 at 11:40 pm #

Ginny: I couldn’t agree with you more. It is true that once we elect representatives they seem to change once they get to Washington. Maybe there’s something in the water there?? But seriously, everything you said is true. They party on at our expense with the very best and flaunt it in our faces while millions are without jobs and our national debt is spiralling out of control. When I have no money, I don’t throw elaborate parties and I too am tired of paying for theirs. We have to say it with our votes. Those who abuse our trust must be identified and voted out of office on the next election cycle.

When Zell Miller (D-Ga) gave the keynote address at the 2004 National Convention (Republican)he sent a message that there were no more conservative Democrats. Many of our GOP leaders did not hear that address, or are not heeding it. They need to understand: There is no middle in the Democrat Party. They are all left of center. That has been shown time and time again in their voting pattern. There can be no compromise and there can be no weakness on our part. I write my Senator (Burr, R-NC) frequently asking when he is going to get angry at the nonsense going on. I am getting tired of “My dear friend on the other side of the aisle…” garbage. They are not “dear friends”. They are against everything we believe in.
