Let me ask you a couple questions. Just how much input do you believe you really have pursuant to who gets elected? How much do you really believe your vote counts and/or makes a difference pursuant to policy? Are you looking at this election cycle and feeling that you’re being manipulated to vote for someone you really don’t want? Are you asking yourself why this is happening and feeling helpless to do anything about it? Are you feeling that no matter what you do the outcome of elections is decided by others who are unseen and unknown?
If you are feeling like any or all of the above, the first thing to realize is that you are not alone in your feelings. The next thing you must realize is that you are not powerless. The Constitution given us the greatest of individual power when it’s used as a collective, but we cannot be afraid to use it.
But, specific to that point, I am committed to the belief that the only way to exercise our power, is to exercise it. We must start thinking for ourselves and stop letting others think for us. That means we must stop being afraid of the consequences of our acting in accord with our consciences.
How many times have you heard professional coaches, right after they designed a play and the end result was it didn’t work as planned and their team loss? Sometimes it results in the loss of a championship game, but during post game interview, when asked if he would use that play or make that call again in the same situation – the coach says yes he would, because it was the right play/call and that he would do it again without hesitation.
Often the coaches are harshly criticized for their decisions, but they stand by their decisions and the next season or so they win the championship. I could site similar examples, but here’s my point.
One of my oft repeated sayings is: “you cannot be afraid to lose if you want to win.” The reason so many feel helpless, is because party hierarchies want us to feel that way. They don’t care about us, they care about retention of power or regaining power. We are nothing more than the pawns and worker bees needed to make that happen – and they want it like that.
Sometimes change takes longer than we want, but there can be no change if we do not undertake to make same a reality. That means making a decision to do what is right and doing it. Success is not always immediate. It wasn’t at the founding of this great nation, it wasn’t in the great wars, it wasn’t with the invention of the advances in medicine, it wasn’t with civil rights. But, because a few people stood on principle, eventually more people enjoined them and victorious change became a reality.

We have the ability to change things, but change doesn’t come without courage of convictions. It is the ability to manipulate our convictions that those pulling the strings count on. The question that each of us must answer is how long will we allow this to happen. Keep in mind that those who fought for independence did not have the support of a majority of the people. They were ridiculed and looked upon by some as the traitors to the Crown. But they stood on their convictions and America was born.
Doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different outcome is the definition of insanity, not success. We won’t realize change and a return to being governed under the auspices of the Constitution, led by men who value the Constitution, until we demand same. Those pulling the strings and those in office have no incentive to change until they realize beyond a shadow of doubt, that we are serious about our convictions.

Dear Mychal,
As always, your comments hit straight to the heart of the matter, and I appreciate you for your stance.
Reading through the Comments though, one thing that I do NOT agree with is “The People’s” inability to bring about change.
Yes, “One Vote” might seem a little lame, but BY GOD CAST your Vote. Anyone who sits home in November and says “my Vote doesn’t count” is a Traitor, and I never want to hear their name again. How many Votes typically make the difference? DAMN FEW! Get out and VOTE, and make certain everyone you know does the same!
Going one step further – for CERTAIN there are things above your “One Vote” that you can do to influence the Political Process! Our liberal “friends” do it every single day!
FLOOD the E-mail address, Mail, Fax Machines, and Phone Lines of your Senators and Congressmen / Women with YOUR Comments. Otherwise, they live in a vacuum and have ZERO idea of your specific concerns.
ASK the hard questions, and DEMAND an answer! Remind them that it is no longer just my Job and yours on the line, but THEIRS too! 1/3 of the Senate is coming up for Re-Election, and from my take, damn few deserve another run, but check it our for yourselves – what is their Voting Record? Who and what are they Supporting? If you do not like what they have to say, DO ALL IN YOUR POWER TO KICK THIS TRASH OUT OF OFFICE!!!
Additionally, we all have a wonderful and EASILY workable local program. We ALL have access to our local County Sheriff’s.
Sit down in front of them and ask them in PERSON if they intend to uphold the Sworn Oaths they took upon entry into Office, or if they will bow down to the illegals in DC who are Hell Bent upon taking away the Rights afforded us in the US Constitution, Bill of Rights, and States Rights (which by the US Constitution and Bill of Rights Supercedes Federal Authority).
Preface this with “hopefully you will never have to make this choice, but if you DO”…
VOTE Accordingly!
To a certainty I will sit across from my Wharton County, Texas Sheriff, look into his eyes, and ask these questions.
I’ll let you know what he has to say.
I’ve plenty more to add, and will on occasion.
Thank you AGAIN, Mychal!!!
Steve
Mr. Massie, I’ve been thinking about voting for Mr. Obama to propel us into the AGE of “the Man of Lawlessness”. Do you think that would ENCOURAGE God to send His Man of Just Judgement? Not that I could do THAT with a clear conscience but I really am in a quandry about how I will or if I will vote, same quandry I was in the past three Pres. election cycles! I am terribly depressed about it since Mr. Cain was lynched. I have no where to put my vote with a clear conscience.
Great encouragement Rant, Mychal. A lone little broken canoe can be brought to shore by one person. A huge broken Ocean Liner takes many people to finally get it to dock side. I think my analogical comaparison is the answer when it comes to putting America back together. It takes a ‘bunch of people’ to make sure we save our ‘big ship-America.’ If we don’t all pull together and persevere, we will lose our big ship. That aside, It is difficult to determine which R. Candidate will lead this great country. But, it will take more than replacing Obama because the House needs cleaned as well. And more, The “System” needs cleaned. We The People can see to that. VOTE! Dissatisfied, Keep writing and calling our Congressmen; Not one time but several times. I think they will get the idea that they aren’t doing their jobs and we the People can fire their butts by VOTE. Just keep remembering that one lone person cannot pull an Ocean Liner to dock side. It takes Team Work.
Thank you Mr. Massie,
Yesteday I was losing all hope that my vote and my participation in all things political could or would make a difference any more. Our leaders are bought out, corrupt, spiritually & morally bankrupt and I let it get to me.
I will keep up the good fight and not dispair. Thank you for the encouragement, it came in a timely manner.
Kat
We got where we are because the radicals were patient in infiltrating our schools and courts and media. They have changed the mindset and basic values over many decades. While we may not be able to control that a few states eliminate the candidates we prefer before we get the chance to vote (which frustrates me no end), we can start teaching our values and stand up for our views, not rolling over whenever being accused of being racist or intolerant or for the rich. Thank goodness Newt finally stood up to a bully in the SC debate! Conservatives need to grow a spine. If we speak the truth and stand up to bullies, we can win back our country (if we’re not too late, given the perilous financial situation we’re in).
You nailed it once again Mychal. Too many of today’s GOP politicians are RINOs. As you say, their primary motivation is retention and regaining of power. As you know, our founding fathers saw Congressmen, Senators and other politicians as public SERVANTS, not money-hungry and power-hungry tyrants who stay in office for decades and kowtow to lobbyists.
In presidential races any more, all of the emphasis is placed on getting more electoral votes, rather than our votes. The goal is to win the electoral college and the individual voters are as you wrote, nothing more than pawns and worker bees.
For far too long, the GOP presidential candidates have been a few men standing in line, waiting for their “turn” to have the party ramrod them to the front. It was Richard Nixon’s turn, then Ford, Reagan, George HW Bush, Bob Dole, George W. Bush, John McCain and now Romney.
Unfortunately, too many citizens, when faced with a lousy government, simply give up. They do not even bother to vote. And, as a result, lousy government continues. Instead of voting, too many people just complain.
It’s going to take a lot of painful work accomplished by fresh faces to turn America around. We need politicians who once more approach their work with the attitude of a public servant.
Finally! Someone else that knows the popular vote does not elect the president. That is the reason they go after electoral votes.
So to take this one step further, the Electoral College delegates are selected by the Governor of your state. The delegates are supposed to vote the choice of the people of that state. They are NOT REQUIRED to do so. The vote is secret ballot so we do not even know how they voted. Looks like the deck is pretty well stacked against the people in that respect. You can find out who the delegates were after the fact, but you can NEVER find out how they voted. Tell me again how MY vote in the presidential election counts? One can only hope that the Governor will select the right people so they will in turn vote for the right candidate.
Our government as a whole really makes me sick to my stomach. How has this great country fallen so far. I’ll tell you how! Greed! Too many get their fingers into the cookie jar and then they think they are the only ones that should be able to have the cookies!!! The cookies are mine and yours…our tax dollars and they don’t belong to the politicans!! I want to fire them all or better yet—just close down our government and send them all home. They need to realize they work for us. I heard someone the other day on Mark Levin’s show that said that Obama is his boss! What the _ _ _ _ is he smoking anyway. Obama is not my boss. I am his boss. My tax dollars pay his salary, they pay for all his rounds of golf and so on and so forth. Why is it that we real Americans can’t take our country back from the liars, thieves and insiders that are only interested in lining their own coffers?? Now we are at war within our own party because the guys who would be the best presidents are getting blown to bits by the liberal media. Why are we putting up with this yet again? Let’s take the fight to them. Boycott anything and everything the libs touch!!! Money is power and it’s the only power they understand.
As you have so correctly said Mychal: “Sometimes change takes longer than we want…”
However, it is my contention that we are exactly where we are right now because this mindset has been applied for the last 50 to 60 years by the radical left that has resulted in us being where we are currently. Therefore, in order for us to return to what once made this country great, it will have to start NOW and will likely take another 50 or 60 years to accomplish.
Reminds me of another saying: “Patience is a virtue”
I have tried to email the white house three days in a row now. All the addresses I have do not connect. Here is one they sent me which also does not work http://www.whitehouse.gov/comment and http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact. What is going on I took these off the websites on the net then got back the corrected email of whitehouse.go/comment. How do we reach them if the website addresses do not work. I am sure you can tell me. Thanks.
Kelia
Yes, I feel as if the people in states like Iowa and New Hampshire, both blue states I believe, can have the advantage of choosing and/or eliminating possible candidates. My city has a population larger than both states put together. Why doesn’t my opinion count as much as theirs? Because they are first, the person I want may not have a chance. When and how did this start? I favored Governor Rick Perry but, because of the debates, he was destroyed immediately. Is it a slick debater that we want or someone with a proven record of leadership. I was a good debater in college. Should I run for president? Of course not. As a Texan, I resented the treatment of our governor by the media and the so-called know-it-alls in the GOP. Would I as a Texan elect a fool to lead this state? I don’t think so. Next, we watched the destruction of Herman Cain and now we see the attack of Newt Gingrich. If the choosing of a nominee was done fairly with all having a voice, we might see a difference in the leadership in Washington.
As a Texan myself, I was very excited to see Rick Perry throw his hat into the ring. That is until I started doing some research into his actual record. True he was not a good debater, but rest assured that when certain facts about the Texas economy came out, the media would have crucified him. Better to live to fight another day with that fabricated record intact right?
All of the candidates have “feet of clay.” The question was and still is: who can beat Obama?
Mychal…yep you got most of the feelings as a voter I have been thinking off and on. Then I remember who is in charge, and who sets those in power. I must do all that I can though, I vote, and I vote my conscience. Perhaps that is why those I vote for never seem to win. It’s true, I don’t trust that our votes are safe in that they are fairly counted, and one man one vote is now a thing of the past. We are being manipulated in all ways today. If I had not spent 17 1/2 years without T.V. recently I would possibly be as confused as many seem to be. A year ago I installed Direct tv, thinking it was time to see how the world was being programmed. What a shock it was to see what today offers as news and entertainment. Been watching mostly Fox, and the rest of the time congress and the senate in session. Must be weird because I find I am the only person I know who does so. Watching them has brought the full realm of entertainment and news. To see and hear those elected officials is, to date me, mindblowing. Often it is hard to believe my ears. There probably isn’t another place where such utter waste of words and time can be found. Every voter should be made to listen to their representatives on the floor for a month or two before ever casting another vote for them. Any advice O’ wise One? Man I could use it.
I expect you will find out too soon that Fox is not for the Conservatives either. Best chance of knowing what is going on is talk radio, the Internet, and websites like Mychal Massie. Mark Levin tells it exactly like it is also. TV is the biggest waste of time today.
One definition of ‘change’ is that which remains after a transaction is enacted, or acted upon. The power brokers of the political parasite institute want to manipulate the thinking of those that have the privilege of voting. And the manipulation they emphasize is that of fearing the negative consequence of ‘change’. Barry emphasized a’change you can believe in’, and squelched the fear of enough ‘independents’ to cause them to prove that they still are ‘dependent’ on ‘guvmint daddy to make it all good for me’. They emphasize the word ‘democracy’ as another form of a mental corral. Keep the ‘sheeple’ in one corral, and they are manageable. W (dub-yuh) said the only change to believe in is more of the same. And then along comes, Ron Paul, and begins to encourage the ‘sheeple’ to once again become ‘People of the Republic’, and to think and read, and realize that the International Banking Gangsters own and operate this private corporation called THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, all capital letters. Ever wonder why all caps? Try reading, but when your eyes get opened a little, don’t reach for your gun, which will be the normal instinct. Instead, keep reading, and then start speaking and helping others to get their eyes opened. When enough of us begin to truly see the Wizard of Oz (gold ounces) behind the curtain, what science refers to as critical mass (massey?), then we might begin to enact true change of going ‘back to the future of our Republic’. “Its a Republic, Madam, if you can keep it”. But rest assured the central banking thieves won’t go away without a fight. They will do anything they can to keep Barry, or Newt or Mitt as president of their private corporation. Father God, give us the Grace and courage to open our eyes, and then show us the steps to take. Shalom, Ya’ll
I would have voted for Cain, but the liberal media destroyed that
As they will try to do to Gingrich. They want Romminy in because they know he can’t beat Obama.I’m hoping that whoever gets the nomination, they will pick West as their VP
Art, I’ve been following West, discovered him before the last election. I have been supporting him financially too. Although I live in Alaska, he also makes decisions that effect me. I’ve been encouraging all I know for over a year to watch and listen to him, also to donate to his re-election. We all must see that our reps only have one vote and the votes of others decide our future and we must support all who we find deserving. Did bug me he voted for NDAA as it was. I spent 2 days emailing those who were to vote on NDAA expressing that we citizens do not want our rights removed. Even talked on the local radio to inform others, guess what? No one listening even knew what it was. People who are seriously watching events in congress and the senate are few.
Art: I do not believe “they” want Romney because he can’t beat Obama, I believe they know Romney is deep down a Big Government Republican and that’s all they want are Big Government politicians to keep the money and power and control in their hands. So I am saying they don’t care whether Romney or Obama is president, but Newt, Rick, Ron, Michelle, and Herman all scared them with pledges of limited, Constitutional government.
Most (all) political elections are slanted to the party pick regardless of what the people want. Campaign money and supportive talks are given only for those that have passed the party entrance exam. Without this support and/or personal money, there is very little chance to hear very much about others with the possible exception of trash and personal attacks. By the time it gets to the final votes, you get to pick from a list of approved candidates which may or may not include the one you favored. It’s like having to pick pig slop or cow chips as your entre’ for dinner. You don’t want either, so you pick the one least offensive or not pick at all and watch the other diners eat. None of these options seem to favor “We the People”.
