Why Are We Racists?

Playing a president or a murderous villian with a preoccupation for foot massages doesn’t make one an expert on life or politics.  Which is something actors, musicians, and whatever species Janeane Garofalo is, should understand.

Earning millions and sometimes, depending on the structure of the deal tens of millions, makes one financially fortunate – it doesn’t make one smart.  I admired Morgan Freeman as an actor for his quality of work and to a lessor extent (much lesser actually) I admired the acting ability of Samuel L. Jackson.

I liked their movies and the characters they played because of their ability to pretend, i.e., act.  I didn’t like Jackson in “Caveman’s Valentine, Formula 51, Unbreakable,” oh heck – I didn’t like most of Jackson’s movies – does that make me a racist?  Is he going to say I didn’t like his movies because he’s black?  Will Morgan Freeman say the reason I didn’t like Jackson’s “Die Hard with a Vengeance,” is because Jackson is black?  I like every movie I’ve seen Freeman in, I like his restaurant Madidi – do I like his movies and his restaurant because he’s black?  The answer to those questions is no, of course not.

So if my condemnation of his movies is not based on color, why are demonstrable objections to Obama and his policies called racist by these two?  Why do these supposedly otherwise intelligent men view contempt for Obama’s policies as racist?  A moment of honest pronouncement here.  I cannot stand Obama or his wife.  He is a cheap punk who had the nerve to attempt to intimidate me years before he was elected to office.  I don’t like him because he is a liar, because he misstates scripture, because of his arrogant narcissism, and becasue he is mendacious to list but a few.  I don’t like his policies because they are based on those who take from those who work and give to those who do not, because they are Alinskyan-Lenist, because they are designed to grow government, and create a repressively hostile business climate.  I don’t like his wife because she espouces hatred, racial antagonism, arrogance, because she flaunts herself as royalty and entitlement to what she has specifically because of the taxpayers.  I don’t like them because they display a lack of breeding and because they behave like share-croppers who just won the powerball – not as a legitimate president and first lady.  You will notice that nothing I voiced pursuant to my contempt them and/or his policies was based remotely on color – but does my disdain for them nonetheless make me a racist? And if I’m not them why are Tea Party groups?

The problem is that Freeman and Jackson haven’t spent five minutes looking into what the Tea Party is all about or the genesis of the Tea Party.  They are simply being faithful to Jim Jones, i.e., just drink the kool aid.  Anyone with half a brain understands that being committed to gettting him out of office is not racist.  Was it racist when Planned Parenthood and NOW stated publicly that they were committed to getting Rick Santorum out of office in PA.  Was it racist when liberals were committed to ousting George Bush?  Was it racist when Planned Parenthood and Now claimed to committed to getting rid of Attorney General John Ashcroft?

Jackson and Freeman are representative of a gifted class of individuals who are afforded unimaginable lifestyles based on income and association.  They should do what they do reasonably best, i.e., act.  That they attack the Tea Party (which I and countless other Americans of Color are proudly part of) as being racist because we object to Obama’s policies is ridiculous of them.  That says more about them than it does Tea Party people.  It is tragic that when they look in the mirror, despite their great wealth and accomplishment all they see is the color of their skin.  That is a terrible burden to live with.

I and others on the other hand look in the mirror and see the need to fight to remove from office those who we not only disagree with, but who we believe are antithetical to the traditions that made this nation great.

Morgan Freeman should remember it was Spike Lee who allegedly called him an Uncle Tom and made fun of his role in “Driving Miss Daisy,” because he portrayed an elderly Black man who became chauffeur and best friend to an elderly woman.  I submit if we want to start accusing people of being racist Morgan might start with Lee.  In the mean time we have work to do and that work includes ousting Obama and a host of Democrats and a fair number of Republicans.  Is it racist to be committed to ousting the Congressmen or just being committed to ousting Obama?

As for Janeane Garofalo – she is the reason we wipe our feet after walking through a chickenyard before entering the house.  My point being if we don’t want her tracked through the house, why should we remotely care that she what she has to say.  That said, I do find it interesting that she is the expert Keith Olbermann turns to discuss white racism.  Maybe she knows so much about what white racists because…well…because she learned it from her mother and father.
