Who Should We Obey – Sunday Thought For The Day

The following is an excerpt from my book of devotions titled: “Alone With Jesus.”

As has been said countless times: “We live in a world in which good is called evil, evil is called good, and where those who would try to live righteously before God according to His scriptures are labeled intolerant.”

There are things people engage in today that God’s word clearly and unequivocally calls sin, and yet those who seek to obey God and not become accepting participants and/or promoters of the sin are labeled as haters and said to be out of touch.

If parents attempt to raise their children based upon Christian values and morality, the parents are considered to be harmful to their children’s development; but the schools and television programming that promote that to which God objects are hailed as cultural necessities, etc.

I could go on, but I’m sure you grasp my point.

It was Saint Augustine who famously said: “Right is right even if no one is doing it; wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it.” Therein lies the problem; many actual believers want to be like the world, instead of being like Christ.

We as Christians should be examples to the unsaved who are leading lives of futility.

We as Christians are called upon to represent Christ in our daily lives. We’re not perfect and there will be many times that we drop the ball so to speak. But that should not change our desire or our goal to live in obedience to Christ.

We’re not perfect but we are forgiven and that alone should make us want to live more Christ-like lives and share what Jesus has done in our lives.
