No Two-Minute Warning – Sunday Thought For The Day

Satan is at his best when he’s luring people away from obeying the Word of God, by having them do what’s right in their minds.  This is exactly what’s taking place today and much of Christendom is blind to it.

If over 2,000 years ago, the Apostle Paul could say: “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.” (Romans 13:1 KJV); how much truer is said today?

It doesn’t matter whether it took Noah 120 years to build the ark or as some biblical scholars believe, the 120 years reference was the beginning of the countdown until the first raindrop fell.  What matters is that the  judgment of God poured down at the exact moment He intended for the rains to fall.  And after all the time the people had to turn to God, only Noah and his family were spared God’s wrath.

Surely the people saw what Noah was doing.  Surely they had been preached to and were aware that God’s judgment was going to fall.  But the people refused to heed the warning.  And therein is the deception of the devil.  Christians know that the Lord’s return to gather His own together with him in the air, i.e., the rapture is imminent.  God’s Word is clear that we will have signs that make clear His return is near, but there will be no two-minute warning.

Surely Noah and his family were not silent while they were building the ark.  God never sends judgment before He provides time to first repent.  The people failed to pay attention even in the final days when every animal and fowl started to arrive at the door of the ark.  That should have been the sign of the impending judgment.  How, we may ask, did the steady arrival of every beast, fowl, and sea creature lining up to enter the ark go ignored?  How deep their unbelief to ignore the amount of provisions being carried into the ark?  Jesus said it will be no different when He returns.

Are we busy with everything but paying attention to the signs of Christ’s return?  Are we just giving lip service to being aware Christ can return at any moment?  Has Satan deceived us into completely ignoring Christ’s commission to Christendom?  Do we defend our disobedience by establishing our own righteousness?  Do we fail to realize that God doesn’t save nations – He saves individuals?  He spares nations when the people are obedient to Him?

The people in the days of Noah refused to believe and/or understand that God had stamped the day of their absolute reckoning in eternity and there was no rescheduling it.

Christendom must preach and teach repentance.  It’s time for Christendom to stop making vain excuses for not doing what the Word of God instructs.  It’s a fool’s errand to fight to save that which Christ has said is doomed.

The return of Christ is not in question.  The only questions are: will He return before we die and what will we be doing if He returns before we do?  Scripture is clear that many people who think they are saved are going to hear Christ tell them: “…I never knew you; depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” (Matthew 7:23 KJV)  Note that He doesn’t say I forgot you, He says: “I never knew you.”  Trust me, we don’t want to hear those words.

The people in Noah’s day ignored God’s Word spoken through Noah and his family until the first drops of rain began to fall and then it was too late.

Jesus never said anything He didn’t mean.  We would do well to remember that, because it could mean the difference between heaven and hell for us.

1 And the Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.

2 Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.

3 Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.

4 For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.

5 And Noah did according unto all that the Lord commanded him.

6 And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.

7 And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.

8 Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth,

9 There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.

10 And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.

11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.

13 In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark;

14 They, and every beast after his kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind, and every fowl after his kind, every bird of every sort.

15 And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein is the breath of life.

16 And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the Lord shut him in.
