One Saturday, I spent the afternoon with a dear friend I had not seen or talked to in probably five years. Before I moved to Florida he and I were always together. So it was that when I walked into one of our favorite restaurants one evening not long ago and saw him there, we picked up where we had left off – with one exception.

A short time later that evening, my friend shared with me that he was going to church. This immediately caught my attention and couple weeks later we had the first opportunity for the two of us to spend a few hours catching up.

He shared what God was doing in his life and how much better his life was, and what had led to his change. He shared that in the Lord, he had found victory over poor impulse control when it came to “seeing it, wanting it, and then buying it.” My friend shared personal areas in his life that God had made a difference. I shared what the Lord had done and was doing in my life since we last spoke years ago. While our conversation covered everything from timepieces to politics to food it always came back around to the Lord.

Here is my point. People always talk about what is important to them. We cannot wait to tell our friends about a new restaurant, or whatever. New car, new book, now movie, new store or a new cigar – we talk about it.

But how many of our friends do we tell what the Lord is doing for us? How many of our friends fully understand what it means to be Christian and why we gave our lives to Jesus?

If Christ is important to us we will talk about Him. We will share what He means to us and why. And we won’t just share about Him to other believers.

The bottom line is that we talk about what is important to us and we aren’t ashamed to do so. Why are so many ashamed to boldly share about their relationship with Christ Jesus? Is it because they are ashamed of Him? The scriptures tell us: “For whosever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of Man be ashamed, when he shall come in His own glory…” (See: Luke 9:26 KJV)

If Christ is your Savior don’t be ashamed to let others know. Look for opportunities to share your faith. We should be more eager to speak of Christ in our life, than we are to speak of the great price on new tires for our SUV.
