Resurrection Day: The Celebration of Life – Sunday Thought For The Day

In Luke’s gospel, 24:1 KJV, we read: “Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.”  Upon their arrival not only did they find the sepulcher empty, but as they pondered the empty tomb, we read that two angel messengers were suddenly observed standing by them in shining garments. The angels asked the question for the ages: “Why seek ye the living among the dead?”  Or better stated: “Why seek ye Him that liveth among the dead?”

This is the question that should be asked of those who embrace false religions.  I recall many years ago, hearing a globally recognized basketball player say he became a Muslim because it was easier for him to understand than the “three in one thing” Christians believed.  At that time, even though I was a long way from being a Christian, I remember thinking he was blind and misled.  Today, that athlete is an angry man filled with bitterness who continues to promote the religion of a dead man.

Even before I became a born-again Christian, I never doubted nor questioned that Christ was alive.  In fact, it was my innate belief that Jesus Christ lived that kept me from really going off the cliff before I accepted Him as my Savior.

True born-again Christians do not celebrate nor worship the dead.  Our Savior lives!  He bestows life and forgiveness of sin to those who accept Him as their Lord and Savior.  The dead sinners that many worship today cannot answer prayer any more than they can comfort those who worship them.

Neither a dead man nor a wicked man consumed by his own lusts unable to reconcile himself to God and yet claiming the ability to make intercession for others, can do anything for the souls of those who follow them.

This Resurrection Day let us embrace the “Truth” and not bunnies, eggs and chocolates. The “Truth” of the resurrection is “life eternal” for all who believe.  This is the message we who believe are compelled to share.
