‘I Feel the Presence of The Lord’

"I Feel The Presence of The Lord" is a personal collection of devotions intended to encourage the reader to seek and see the Lord in every aspect of their life.
The enemy of our souls would have us subscribe to the mentality of being endlessly busy, and therefore it being excusable to relegate God to a Sunday morning church service, if that. Thus, many in our churches today are powerless Christians and/or Christians in whom faith and fellowship with God is sorely wanting.
I Feel The Presence of The Lord is not just a book to be read as part of our daily devotions. It is a collection of thoughts and instructions to inspire the reader to meditate upon the Lord and His Word.

Perspective On Father’s Day – Sunday Thought For The Day

Today is “Father’s Day.”  Of all the cards, gifts and so forth children will give to their fathers, I believe there is one thing a father who truly cares and loves their child/children, should have done for them.

What I am referencing is found in Psalm 101:3, which reads: “I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.” (KJV)  My fellow Christian fathers; I believe the highlighted portion of verse three is critical for our personal walk with the Lord, for our marriages and of paramount importance as the principal figure our children watch and learn from.

Our children watch, imitate and learn from us.  If we set bad examples or questionable ethical patterns our children are right there observing.  We are establishing what’s right and wrong.  We are the living examples of Christ in life.  The importance of our roles as fathers cannot be overstated.

From the way we treat our wives to the way we treat others to the way we show emotions to every single facet of our behavior.  Our children are there watching, listening and learning.  If we say we are a Christian, but live our lives contrary to the Word of God, guess who is right there watching and taking notes on our contradictions.  That’s right; our children.

None of us are perfect, but our desire(s) and our efforts should reflect that we want to live our lives pleasing to Christ.  We place our values on the things God’s Word instructs us to value.  We value obedience to Christ and righteousness more than we value the things of the world.  We make our homes zones of non conformity to the world, and products from companies that promote that which God condemns.  That doesn’t mean we set impossible standards, that are more about us than God.

We are honest and truthful when we drop the ball.  We live our lives to the best of our ability honoring our God.

My friends, I believe being a father is the greatest gift in the world.  I love my son more than I can say, but I love my God even more.  It is for that reason, notwithstanding the number of times I have failed, my son knows that the most important goal in my position as his father, is to show him Jesus Christ.  That means showing him the things of God, not living and thirsting after the things of the flesh and world.

I sincerely pray that each and every father reading this will commit to this for the sake our children.

Psalm 101 (KJV)

1 I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O Lord, will I sing.

2 I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.

3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.

4 A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.

5 Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.

6 Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me.

7 He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.

8 I will early destroy all the wicked of the land; that I may cut off all wicked doers from the city of the Lord.
