Does Your Church Punish Obedience To God? – Sunday Thought For The Day
The first and most important thing for Christians to remember is: God is on the throne and God does not condone sin nor does He change His mind about sin and debauchery.
God said: “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.” (Leviticus 20:13 KJV)
What part of a church’s governing body changes this judgment of God upon those who commit said sin? Does an edict by a church’s ruling body invalidate God’s word? Of course it doesn’t.
But, a church’s governing body does bring judgement upon themselves when they knowingly and purposefully not only call evil good and good evil, but indict those members of the church itself if they do not embrace that which God condemns.
We are seeing historical churches that at one time were rooted and grounded in the word of God, not only turning away from God’s word, but punishing those members who do not follow their lead.
The latest church to do same is the United Methodist Church. The governing body of the United Methodist Church delisted Asbury Theological Seminary. This denomination has taken one more step in bow its’ knee to Satan. “Asbury Theological Seminary announced that they were removed from the United Methodist Church’s list of approved schools for ordination;” because Asbury refuses to ordain homosexuals and lesbians into ministry.
We are long past the point of Christians having to make a choice regarding what churches they attend and what denominations they support financially.
God’s word is immutable. It does not change so as to oblige and accommodate sin. We must determine if we will serve and obey the word of God or the dictates of those who insist congregations obey them over God. We must understand that God will hold us responsible if we disobey His word and/or our leading others astray by our actions.

18 Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope:
19 That say, Let him make speed, and hasten his work, that we may see it: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it!
20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
22 Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:
23 Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!
24 Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the Lord of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
