‘I Feel the Presence of The Lord’

"I Feel The Presence of The Lord" is a personal collection of devotions intended to encourage the reader to seek and see the Lord in every aspect of their life.
The enemy of our souls would have us subscribe to the mentality of being endlessly busy, and therefore it being excusable to relegate God to a Sunday morning church service, if that. Thus, many in our churches today are powerless Christians and/or Christians in whom faith and fellowship with God is sorely wanting.
I Feel The Presence of The Lord is not just a book to be read as part of our daily devotions. It is a collection of thoughts and instructions to inspire the reader to meditate upon the Lord and His Word.

A Republic Is Governed By A Constitution and Laws; Not Anarchists by ‘Brother Bill’

January 28, 2026

A republic is governed by a Constitution, and a system of laws that ensure no one is above the laws.  So what would happen if the all of laws we depend upon were broken?

The laws are for justice that should govern our existence.  They can be understood in three interconnected categories: the laws of God (divine moral and spiritual principles), the laws of science (natural physical laws), and the laws of man(human civil and legal systems).
Each provides a distinct form of order—spiritual/moral, physical, and social—while Scripture reveals that ultimate order originates from and is sustained by God.  Below, each category is described, with NKJV verses where relevant, along with how order is supplied and the consequences if when these laws cease to function.
Each of these are being broken one at a time, first was the laws of God.  Second was the laws of man, and now the laws of science are under review by AI, AGI and ASI where we can no longer predict much less protect people by the possible outcomes.

1. The Laws of God (Divine Moral and Spiritual Laws)

These are God’s eternal commandments and principles revealed in Scripture, including the Ten Commandments and the summation of the law, i.e., love for God and love for neighbor.  They govern the human heart, conscience, and relationship with the Creator and others.

How they supply order:

God’s laws establish moral order, justice, righteousness, and harmony in human life and society.  They define good and evil, restrain sin, and guide people toward flourishing.

Matthew 22:37–40 (NKJV):

“Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

Additionally, God actively sustains all creation, including the consistency we observe in natural laws (addressed below).

Colossians 1:17 (NKJV):

“And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.”

Hebrews 1:3 (NKJV):

“who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.”

What would happen if they stopped working:

If God’s moral laws were no longer operative or enforced (or if God withdrew His sustaining power and moral restraint), universal moral chaos would result. Right and wrong would lose objective meaning, leading to unrestrained evil, broken relationships, and spiritual separation from God. Human society would descend into self-destruction, as seen in periods of biblical history when people abandoned God’s ways.

2. The Laws of Science (Natural Physical Laws)

These are the observable, consistent principles that govern the physical universe, such as gravity, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, strong and weak nuclear forces, and conservation of energy and momentum.  They are discovered through scientific observation and are remarkably consistent and fine-tuned.

How they supply order:

These laws make the universe predictable and coherent, allowing stars to form and burn steadily, planets to orbit without colliding, atoms to bond into molecules, and life to exist. For example:

•  The law of gravity keeps celestial bodies in stable orbits.

•  Electromagnetic forces hold electrons to nuclei, forming stable atoms and chemical bonds.

•  The laws of thermodynamics govern energy flow, preventing immediate disorder.

•  Fixed ordinances ensure seasonal and diurnal cycles.

Genesis 8:22 (NKJV):

“While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease.”

Jeremiah 33:25 (NKJV):

“Thus says the Lord: ‘If My covenant is not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth,’”

What would happen if they stopped working:

If even one fundamental law ceased or became inconsistent, the physical universe would collapse into chaos:

•  If gravity stopped → planets, stars, and galaxies would fly apart; objects on Earth would drift into space.

•  If electromagnetism failed → atoms would dissociate; no chemistry, no solid matter, no light or electricity.

•  If the strong nuclear force ceased → atomic nuclei would disintegrate; all matter heavier than hydrogen would vanish in explosive energy release.

•  If thermodynamics reversed or stopped → entropy would run unchecked or reverse unpredictably, making energy unusable and life impossible.

The structured cosmos would dissolve into formless disorder, rendering life and existence impossible.

3. The Laws of Man (Human Civil and Legal Systems)

These are rules, statutes, and governments established by people to regulate society, enforce justice, protect rights, and maintain public order.

How they supply order:

Man’s laws provide social structure, deter crime, resolve disputes, and enable cooperative living. Though imperfect and derived from God’s ultimate authority, they serve as instruments of order when aligned with justice.

Romans 13:1–4 (NKJV):

“Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.”

What would happen if they stopped working:

If human laws and governing authorities ceased to function (anarchy), society would descend into chaos, violence, and oppression by the strong over the weak. People would act solely on personal desires, leading to widespread injustice and conflict.

Judges 21:25 (NKJV):

“In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.”

In summary, these three realms of law work together to produce comprehensive order—moral/spiritual (God’s laws), physical (scientific laws), and social (man’s laws). Scripture teaches that all true order ultimately flows from and is sustained by God. If any category failed completely, the consequences would range from societal breakdown to the dissolution of the physical universe itself.  Yet God’s promises assure the continued operation of these laws until His appointed time.

Scripture portrays Satan as the ultimate source of lies, deception, confusion, and illusion. He opposes God’s order and works through human agents—culminating in the Antichrist (also called the man of sin, the son of perdition)—to advance his destructive agenda. This intensifies as “lawlessness” (rejection of God’s moral law and human authority) spreads, leading to widespread spiritual and physical chaos.

Thus, while we watch the lawlessness increase and behavior reduced to levels of decadence and depravity not witnessed since the courts Caligula, Nero, and the such ad nauseum; do not abandon hope.

As the Psalmist makes clear in Psalm 119:89 – Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven. (NKJV)

About the Author

Barney Brenner

Barney Brenner grew up in New York City and has been a resident of Pima County since 1972. He graduated from Francis Lewis High School, lettering in varsity handball and bowling. Barney had an early start in the working world by helping out at his dad’s dry cleaning store in Brooklyn. During his early teens, he ran three newspaper delivery routes every day and also started a business doing paneling and other minor remodeling for neighbors. Arriving in Tucson at age 20 with little money and a dying VW van, he became interested in auto repair. Friends soon started asking for help with their cars and within two years, Barney bought a small property on East Prince Road near North First Avenue and opened a repair shop. He designed and built a three-bay garage addition on the property a few years later. Barney married the former Carole Dickinson in 1976, and while they were still in their twenties, they designed and Barney built the home they lived in until Carole’s untimely death in 1995. In 1982, after expanding into engine building and machine work, Barney’s company was featured in the Arizona Daily Star “Neighbors” section for its exceptional customer service. Barney would help do-it-yourselfers, even teaching them to assemble their own engines. He would do the precision machining, answer their questions, and sell them parts from his growing inventory. When Mr. Brenner moved into the retail store and warehouse he built on West Prince Road near Romero, the company became a full-scale auto parts operation, Barney’s Import Parts. Three weeks after 9/11, Mr. Brenner bought a struggling competitor’s auto parts store and turned the company around, despite the difficult economy. He duplicated that feat with another store purchased in December 2003. In 2005, when Barney was 53, he sold the 30-employee, three-store chain and retired. Mr. Brenner has completed a number of other building projects of his own including, just last year, a garage and workshop at the west-side home where he and the former Sharon Tucker live. They were married at that home in December 2000. Because of his personal construction endeavors, Barney is familiar with Tucson and Pima County building permit processes, having been down that path more than a dozen times. In addition to his other activities, Mr. Brenner developed an interest in local politics. In 1996 he was campaign manager for David Morales when the former Marana Town Councilman and Legislative District 11 Chairman made a run for the Arizona State Senate. In 1999, Barney walked precincts, gathered signatures, installed signs, and helped with fundraising and photography in Tucson Mayor Bob Walkup’s first campaign. In 2001 Mr. Brenner was elected president of the Pima County Republican Club and held the office for three years. Barney’s other accomplishments include earning a black belt in American Tae Kwon Do karate and a United States patent for a VW heating system, which has sold in the thousands to date. He earned a commercial pilot’s license for hot-air-balloon flight, and has helped to raise thousands of dollars by donating balloon rides to dozens of local charities. He has been a volunteer with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and he was a columnist for the Tucson Citizen in 2006 for their inaugural “My Tucson” series. He has also had numerous other op-eds published in both the Citizen and the Arizona Daily Star. Barney announced in March 2008 that he is a candidate for the District 3 seat on the Pima County Board of Supervisors. Ora Mae Harn, the former Mayor of Marana, is his Campaign Chairman.
