Alleged terror plot doesn't pass muster
Looks like I’m not the only one who feels that Holder’s news conference yesterday was nothing more than an attempt to get himself off the front page. When we were informed Holder would be holding a news conference yesterday afternoon, many of us thought he was going to announce that he was stepping down. A few moments later we were told he would be announcing an Iranian terrorist threat had been uncovered and averted. Recovering from the disappointment of his not resigning, I immediately thought the news conference was nothing more than misdirection, including at first questioning whether or not there had been an incident at all.
Having witnessed politicians attempt to divert attention before, a person could be forgiven if they doubted questioned if the incident even happened. The one thing that is glaringly obvious is that Iran is much better than this incident showed. If, as Holder claims, the attempted threat is the brainchild of the Iranian government, somebody would be dead. The Iranian Qods Force are good, and if they target something or someone, that something or someone with very rare exception suffers at the very least, an injury.
They are also efficient and professional. From what I understand, they are equivalent to a “B” team of our most secretive and highly trained special ops. In other words, these guys are no walk in the park, so to speak – because being a “B” team in that league is like being the 25 game winner on a five-man pitching rotation where the other four starters won 30 games.
It caught my attention is that Obama was no where in sight. Obama doesn’t miss news/press conferences. He loves being in front of a teleprompter and camera more than Jesse Jackson, and Jackson would run over his grandmother to get in front of a camera.
I also found the assemblage of characters on the platform curious as whole. I expected to see someone from Homeland Security, certainly someone from the military, or from some branch of intelligence. But it was only Holder and three others.
The fact that it wasn’t handled any better than it was further shows how amateurish this administration is. Obama has known about this incident since June, also making the timing of this announcement questionable.
Holder is claiming the Iranian government itself is responsible for the alleged planned attack. But, to my mind, it seems there is more energized denial coming from Iran, than in the past when it has been suspected of activity considered a threat. When was the last time someone threatened the U.S., let alone too assassinate foreign dignitaries on U.S. soil and there was not a response from the Oval Office. Heck, Obama gives responses for a basketball game, are we to believe he now has nothing to say. Especially with his numbers plummeting.
Diversion is a trick we’ve seen before. Clinton bombed empty aspirin factories in the middle of the night. So, the fact that at the very moment he chose to hold the news conference, there was a 40-page subpoena was being delivered, there was a more thorough than those in the past that dealt with Fast and Furious, raises eyebrows. Politicians don’t divert attention, unless they are guilty.
Politicians and agency heads love the spotlight. And yet Holder stood on the platform yesterday by himself, as if he were a leper going to the store in a leper colony – who would care. It appears Holder is going down for Fast and Furious. The question is who else will he take with him. My instincts tell me that there is no way this doesn’t extend to the White House. So, it will be very interesting to see how involved or how far away the White House chooses to stay from this.
The response of those in office speaks volumes as well. Some are running to the microphones and cameras so as not to miss a press-op. But, it is the way the others are handling it that I has my attention. It’s almost as if they know what’s going on and are giving Holder enough rope to hang himself.
Obama has already been more loyal to Holder, than he was to his grandmother and Jeremiah Wright – both of whom he threw under the proverbial bus without a moment’s thought. That said, I don’t see Obama going down with Holder’s sinking ship – even if he was involved. We won’t have to stay tuned to this one, because this smells bad on several levels.
