‘I Feel the Presence of The Lord’

"I Feel The Presence of The Lord" is a personal collection of devotions intended to encourage the reader to seek and see the Lord in every aspect of their life.
The enemy of our souls would have us subscribe to the mentality of being endlessly busy, and therefore it being excusable to relegate God to a Sunday morning church service, if that. Thus, many in our churches today are powerless Christians and/or Christians in whom faith and fellowship with God is sorely wanting.
I Feel The Presence of The Lord is not just a book to be read as part of our daily devotions. It is a collection of thoughts and instructions to inspire the reader to meditate upon the Lord and His Word.

Why I’m Angry that Pedro Espinoza Murdered Jamiel Shaw, Jr.

by The Honorable Brother X

Why am I angry? Because Pedro Espinoza robbed us African Americans of a great opportunity to stick it to the white man, that’s why! I just recently read about him killing a young African American in the Los-Angeles area in 2008:

Jamiel Shaw Jr., 17, a black youth, was shot in the head and back at 2150 Fifth Ave. in Arlington Heights at about 8:40 p.m. on Sunday, March 2. According to police, Jamiel was walking home when (one) Latino (man) jumped out of a white car and approached him. He was asked what gang he belonged to; when he failed to respond quickly enough, they shot him. The men sped away in the white car north on Fifth Avenue, according to Officer Kate Lopez of LAPD’s media relations office. Jamiel’s father heard the shots and ran out. He stayed by his son until medical personnel arrived, Lopez said. He was transferred to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:55 p.m.” (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/homicidereport/2008/03/youth-killed-in.html)

At the murder trial: “Prosecutors say [Pedro] Espinoza attacked Shaw, who was 17, because he was black. Prosecutors also said Espinoza mistook him for a gang rival based on the red Spider-Man backpack Shaw was wearing. Shaw’s family wore red at the courthouse in support.

“Shaw was an honor’s student at Los Angeles High School. He was not in a gang. Rutgers and Stanford were among the universities recruiting him…Shaw’s parents have campaigned for a law that would enable police to arrest undocumented immigrant gang members and they turn in to federal authorities.

“Espinoza was living in the United States illegally and had been released from jail on a conviction for brandishing a weapon before the Shaw slaying.” (http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/Jamiel-Shaw-Pedro-Espinoza-Slaying-Sentencing-176962081.html)

The judge at the trial said: “The evidence is clear he decided to murder the victim in cold blood and bragged about the killing after. The defendant executed the victim as he lay on the ground defenseless.” (http://newsone.com/2073592/pedro-espinoza-jamiel-shaw-jr/)

Espinoza, unfortunately, was not white. Had he been of “Caucasian persuasion” with a name like Jones or Harrison or Smith, we black folks would have been out in the streets all across the nation demanding justice for our dear Brother Jamiel who was cut down when his life was just starting! We would have had Reverend Jesse, Reverend Al, Maxine, Toure and all of our usual media-approved and appointed black leadership marching and protesting, screaming “No Justice, No Peace!”

We all would have locked arms with the father Jamiel Shaw, Sr., not because we love Mr. Shaw, because we love protesting white folks. (If you cannot protest white folks, what’s the point?) But since a non-white, a Hispanic with an Hispanic name, killed Jamiel Shaw, Jr., there was absolutely nothing to get upset about. Maybe for his family it was a tragedy, but not for me and the rest of us black folks. I’m quite proud to say that our black outrage is always selective and never consistent and that everyone sees that.

Only when a white person kills a black person can we call it a tragedy. Only when a white person kills a black person does that black person does that have value for us. A black-on-black murder does not qualify to be a tragedy. We just say “Oh well.” What do we care? We must be selective and apply different standards in our outrage.

When Trayvon Martin was murdered, I was thrilled and excited! We all took to the streets? Why? Because his killer was a white man! Yea! (I was beginning to think that the white racists we cherish and love to hate forgot about all us. I was thinking that the Nazis and the Klan were going out of business because we’re not giving them anything to do.) Our dear Brother Trayvon had value for us black folks because a white man killed him. Had another black man or a man of color killed him, we would have considered him an “Oh-Well,” another black crime statistic, and we would have ignored the Travon Martin exactly like we ignored the murders of Jamiel Shaw, Jr., black teen Cheryl Green (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2010/09/2-latino-gang-members-convicted-of-first-degree-murder-of-cheryl-green-potential-witness.html), black teen Christopher Lynch (http://newsone.com/1291235/feds-accuse-gang-of-targeting-blacks-in-los-angeles/), and black teen Mark Watts (http://www.chicagonewsreport.com/2012/01/mark-watts-shot-killed-on-englewood.html).

We also rightly ignored the murders of black teens Ofemi Hightower, Terrance Aeriel and Deshawn Harvey of New Jersey who were murdered by a poor undocumented worker from Peru, unfortunately not by a white man. (http://howard53545.wordpress.com/2007/08/07/three-delaware-state-college-students-blown-away-why/, http://www.fncic-voiacm.org/victims.php?id=373 ) It sure did not upset Al Sharpton. We would have hit the jackpot if a white man killed those black teens!

Where’s the fun for us black folks in protesting anyone who is not white? Who is going to make us feel like we are victims if we cannot find any white folks to protest? Maybe the next time we will luck out and get a white man to kill one of us. Then we will have a wonderful time protesting white racism and promoting our victimhood just like in the good old days. And we professional black activists, who find any opportunity to blame the white man wherever we can and make good money and great publicity doing it, will know we will always have a place to practice our craft of victimology.

The Honorable Brother X, founder of the “I-Alone-Decide-Who-Is-Black Committee,” is an outspoken black individual, who has decided to make “racial justice”a lucrative profession for himself, following in the footsteps of many other prominent civil rights entertainers, oops, I mean leaders. He has written several books: “So What if He Lied to the American People–He’s Black!,” “When All Else Fails, Blame the White Man,” “How to be Black for Fun and Profit: A Guide for Aspiring Victimologists,” “Why Blackness Trumps Integrity, Morality, and Common Sense,” “How to Demand Reparations Without Really Trying,” “Loving Your Blackness More Than Jesus,” “Paint the White House Black,” “Let Your Media-Approved Black Leadership Do Your Thinking for You,” “Victimhood Now, Victimhood Tomorrow, Victimhood Forever!,” “Why Black People Must Never Think for Themselves,” “You Ain’t Black Enough, ” “Logic and Critical Thinking are for White Folks,” “Why the Black Collective Must Embrace Ignorance ,” “Why We Must Ban Toothpaste with Special Whiteners,” and “Protecting the White Liberal Racists We Love.”
