‘I Feel the Presence of The Lord’

"I Feel The Presence of The Lord" is a personal collection of devotions intended to encourage the reader to seek and see the Lord in every aspect of their life.
The enemy of our souls would have us subscribe to the mentality of being endlessly busy, and therefore it being excusable to relegate God to a Sunday morning church service, if that. Thus, many in our churches today are powerless Christians and/or Christians in whom faith and fellowship with God is sorely wanting.
I Feel The Presence of The Lord is not just a book to be read as part of our daily devotions. It is a collection of thoughts and instructions to inspire the reader to meditate upon the Lord and His Word.

Do You Want The God of Gifts or The Gifts of God by “Brother Bill”

July 22, 2025

The Bible in the NKJV makes it clear that seeking God Himself is of infinitely greater value than merely seeking His gifts. Below are several complete NKJV verses that speak directly to this theme.

1. Seek the Giver, Not Just the Gifts

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

— Matthew 6:33 NKJV

Jesus calls us to prioritize God Himself, not the “things” we want or need. The gifts come after seeking Him.

2. The Lord Is Our Portion and Inheritance

“Whom have I in heaven but You?

And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You.

My flesh and my heart fail;

But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

— Psalm 73:25–26 NKJV

The psalmist recognizes that God Himself is the reward—not merely what He gives.

3. Eternal Life Is Found in Knowing God

“And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”

— John 17:3 NKJV

Jesus defines eternal life not as a place or reward but as a relationship with God.

4. Do Not Glory in Gifts—Glory in Knowing God

“Thus says the Lord:

‘Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom,

Let not the mighty man glory in his might,

Nor let the rich man glory in his riches;

But let him who glories glory in this,

That he understands and knows Me,

That I am the Lord, exercising loving kindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth.

For in these I delight,’ says the Lord.”

— Jeremiah 9:23–24 NKJV

God takes delight in those who desire to know Him, not just benefit from Him.

5. He Rewards Those Who Diligently Seek Him

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

— Hebrews 11:6 NKJV

God rewards seekers of Him, not seekers of only His benefits.

6. Even Spiritual Gifts Without Love (God’s Nature) Are Nothing

“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.”

— 1 Corinthians 13:1–2 NKJV

Love—the very nature of God (1 John 4:8)—is greater than gifts like prophecy or knowledge.

Summary:

The Bible repeatedly calls us to desire the Giver over the gifts. God’s blessings are real, but they are meant to lead us into deeper relationship with Him, not replace Him.

If you want the Gifts of God, you may get temporary help.

If you want the God of the Gifts, you receive eternal life, purpose, and communion.

“Delight yourself also in the Lord,

And He shall give you the desires of your heart.”

— Psalm 37:4 NKJV
