Michelle Obama: First Lady Of Spending Taxpayer Money
During Obama’s latest venture into fantasyland, he opined about income inequality for women, saying, “It’s time to do away with workplace policies that belong in a ‘Mad Men’ episode.” That’s rich. This is the same person who had the audacity to complain that Michelle Obama did not receive a salary for her First Lady duties. (Obama Complains Michelle Doesn’t Get Salary As First Lady; 8/8/12; breitbart.com/Big-Government)
He continued on that occasion by saying “I want to make sure that when she’s [i.e., Michelle’s] working she’s getting paid the same as men, I gotta say that First Ladies right now don’t [get paid], even though that’s a tough job!”
And as Dr. Paul Williams noted, who can forget Michelle Obama saying: “In my own life, in my own small way, I have tried to give back to this country that has given me so much. See, that’s why I left a job at a big law firm for a career in public service.” (First Lady Now Requires 26 Servants; 8/17/09) Ironic, isn’t it, this coming from the woman who said she hadn’t been proud of America her entire life until after her husband cashed in on the presidential lottery ticket, er, I mean, she said until after he was elected. But I digress.
Obama unfathomably sang the blues that Michelle Obama didn’t get paid for her duties “even though that’s a tough job.” But he omitted the fact that she has twenty-six attendants (i.e., staff) at an annual cost to taxpayers of $1,750,000. That includes a hair dresser and the same make-up artist Oprah uses who charges $15,000 per day for his services. Actually I’m surprised she didn’t try to put her daughters on her payroll insofar as she lied and named them as staff when she took her taxpayer-funded African safari where she ate her way through the jungle.[adsanity id=8405 align=alignleft /]Then there was the DailyMail.co.uk story that revealed just how hard it is for Michelle in her life as a public servant in the role of First Lady, “Michelle Obama Accused Of Spending $10m In Public Money On Vacations.” This included “expensive massages, top shelf vodka, and five-star hotels.” The article, which was written in August 2011, reported that she had “spent $10 million of U.S. taxpayers’ money on vacations alone in the past year. Branding her ‘disgusting’ and ‘a vacation junkie’, they say the [then] 47-year-old mother-of-two has been indulging in five-star hotels, where she splashes out on expensive massages and alcohol. The ‘top source’ told the National Enquirer: ‘It’s disgusting. Michelle is taking advantage of her privileged position while the most hardworking Americans can barely afford a week or two off work.” (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2029615/Michelle-Obama-accused-spending-10m-public-money-vacations.html)
The DailyMail article quoting a source specifically noted, “Michelle also enjoys drinking expensive booze during her trips. She favours martinis with top-shelf vodka and has a taste for rich sparkling wines. … The vacations are totally Michelle’s idea. She’s like a junkie. She can’t schedule enough getaways, and she lives one to the next — all the while sticking it to hardworking Americans.” There were the separate presidential jets that had them arrive 4 hours apart on the same day for their lavish Martha’s Vineyard vacation at a substantial cost to taxpayers. A vacation where she ate, drank, and spent, as Obama was reported to have read books “about porn kings and gangsters…as [the Libyan crisis erupted].” (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2028888/Obama-reads-porn-kings-gangsters-Marthas-Vineyard-Libya-crisis-erupts.html)
Alan Pappas writing for the dailycaller.com wrote, “Taxpayers spent $1.4 billion on everything from staffing, housing, flying, and entertaining President Obama and his family last year, according to the author of a new book on taxpayer-funded presidential perks.” (http://dailycaller.com/2012/09/26/taxpayers-spent-1-4-billion-on-obama-family-last-year-perks-questioned-in-new-book/)
The author of the referenced book, “Presidential Perks Gone Royal” notes that while “Obama isn’t the only president to have taken advantage of the expensive trappings of his office…the amount of money spent on [this] first family, he argues, has risen tremendously…and needs to be reined in.”
First Lady is not an elected position, nor does it carry any official duties. And yet Obama opines about his wife not getting paid and compares her life to that of ordinary working women. Of note is also the fact that Michelle shares in the family’s annual income stream of $44,000 per month. And that is on top of all the lavish perks mentioned above, and the countless lavish perks that I didn’t mention in which she indulges herself. Suffice it to say there’s about as much correlation to her not receiving a salary and the supposed income disparity of women as there is a correlation between the income of Bill Gates and an illegal-alien-kitchen worker.
So, why am I mentioning this? I’m mentioning it because Michelle, as the SOTU address approached, was seeking $10 donations to supposedly help protect obamacare. The day before the SOTU address, she sent fundraising emails to supporters to “help protect obamacare.” The money is to be used to help liberal candidates who, if elected, will make sure obamacare continues as the giant Ponzi scheme it is intended to be.
My point is that with all of the over-the-top, lavish spending she engages in let her donate her own money to help candidates. Let her take some of the nearly $700 million dollars we paid for the obamacare website and donate that.
And people think I’m being hyper-critical when I condemn the behavior of Michelle Obama. I’m not being hyper-critical; I’m standing up for America.[adsanity id=11210 align=alignleft /]
