No longer any doubt how politicians feel
This morning on the Craig Henne radio show, I said the one thing we can thank Obama for is that he has been so insufferably and demonstrably, narcissistic and belligerent. Because, by believing he was above criticism, his arrogance awakened a long slumbering giant – the American people.
But, of even more dramatic transparency, his condescending and belligerent behavior toward the Americans gave license to other elected so-called representatives to step from under their veneer of civility – and show themselves, and their party, for what they are.
Before Obama they would not have dared do so, but with him setting the example, these people now see no reason to pretend. Henry Waxman, the liberal Democrat from California, openly blamed money-grubbing Jews as voting for a Republican to replace Democrat Anthony Weiner, in NY9, because “they want to protect their wealth, which is why a lot of well-off [Jews] vote for Republicans.”
Besides being insulting, Waxman has engaged in the rawest form of race and class warfare. Rather than tell the truth, that NY9 District has been a Democrat district for longer than many remember. Nor is it a wealthy district. The truth that Waxman and those like him are trying to obfuscate and deny, is that the people of that district are not stupid. They have come to understand that Obama is not only bad for America, but they have watched his increasingly public display of antipathy toward Israel. Who can forget his hand clinching the chair arm as he glared wildly at Israel’s Bibi Netanyahu. The majority of Americans understand and support our long relationship with Israel, and are appalled by Obama’s behavior toward same.
Congresswoman, Jan Schakowsky, D-IL, told WLS 980AM radio: “I’ll put it this way. You don’t deserve to keep all of it and it’s not a question of deserving because what government is, is those things that we decide to do together. And there are many things that we decide to do together like have our national security. Like have police and fire. What about the people that work at the National Institute of Health who are looking for a cure for cancer”. She also said, “one reason the 2009 stimulus bill did not succeed was because it was not large enough.”
Maxine Waters not only publicly told American voters they “could go straight to hell,” – she did it in way so as to belittle and taunt the public, while presenting herself as being above criticism. Congresswoman Federica Wilson, D-FLA, called voters terrorists and blamed racism for high rates of unemployment. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, D-TX, who has a long history of saying stupid things, such as complaining that hurricanes didn’t have black names, (I’m guessing she meant no blacks were named Michael, Mary, etc., but I digress). But, now following Obama’s example Lee slammed citizens concerned about America’s increasing debt as being racist.
Under Obama, the federal government has treated it’s citizens, and more egregiously our war heroes, with complete disregard and insult. Obama’s handpicked cabinet heads and czars with his approval and defense, have repeatedly made public declarations that white males and our war veterans are terrorists and most likely to be terrorists. He has set up a special website to spy and report on one another.
We are in unchartered waters with Obama. Never, have we had a leader who encouraged others, by his example – to berate, lie about, mock, and call the citizenry names as he has. He is singularly responsible for opening the door of approval so those heretofore hesitant could show their true selves.
The problem I see, is that Americans have short memory spans and they are easily bought with entitlements and promises. It is a national character flaw born out of the New Deal and the Great Society Initiative. Americans have bought into the lie of it’s government’s job to take care of us.
My fear isn’t so much Obama at this point. My concern is those who will reelect him, or elect another just like him, based on the promises of what amounts to being nothing more than actors reading for the most lucrative roles in theater.
