While many will agree that the Bible is not a science book, the science that is in the Bible is trustworthy. Those that think modern science challenges the Word of God, should ask any doctor that has been practicing medicine for 20 years or longer if he/she practices medicine the same way they did 20 years ago. They don’t because science is always changing – but the Word of God never does.
Below are a few examples of the science that is in the Bible:
Isaiah 40:22 states: “He (God) sits enthroned above the circle of the earth…”
Isaiah lived 1,149 years before Columbus discovered America, and 350 years before Aristotle first argued that the world must be round.
Job lived approximately 4,020 years ago.
Job 38:16a states: “Have you entered into the springs of the sea…” The existence of springs in the ocean were discovered in 1977 – approximately 3,978 years after Job wrote about them!
Job 38:16b states: “…or have you walked in the recesses of the sea?” These recesses were discovered in 1873 – approximately 3871 years after Job!
Job 38:7 states: “…when the morning stars sang together.” On September 5, 2012, NASA reported on the “song” the earth was singing – yes, it was an actual musical interlude! NASA also reported that black holes sing as well. These discoveries were made approximately 4,020 years after Job!
In 1929, Edwin Hubble discovered that universe is expanding, which gave rise to the Big Bang Theory. There are 17 verses in the Bible that tell us that the heavens (the universe) are stretched out (expanding) and are continuing to be stretched out by God. Therefore, the expansion of the universe actually confirms the science in the Bible rather than contradict it.
Here are a few that range between 2,400-2,775 years before Hubble:
Jeremiah 10:12: “He made the earth by His power; He founded the world by His wisdom and stretched out the heavens by His understanding.”
Isaiah 40:22b: “He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to b lived in.”
Zechariah 12:1b: “The Lord, who stretches out the heavens…”
Although the Bible is NOT a science book, it is the Word of the very person Who created science. While science is always changing, the Word of God remains constant and trustworthy.

Currently, she has launched a Christian "counterpoint" initiative with Pastor Doug Thuen that is designed to equip the younger generation to face the biblical and cultural challenges of our days.
