‘I Feel the Presence of The Lord’

"I Feel The Presence of The Lord" is a personal collection of devotions intended to encourage the reader to seek and see the Lord in every aspect of their life.
The enemy of our souls would have us subscribe to the mentality of being endlessly busy, and therefore it being excusable to relegate God to a Sunday morning church service, if that. Thus, many in our churches today are powerless Christians and/or Christians in whom faith and fellowship with God is sorely wanting.
I Feel The Presence of The Lord is not just a book to be read as part of our daily devotions. It is a collection of thoughts and instructions to inspire the reader to meditate upon the Lord and His Word.

The Great Lie – Sunday Thought For The Day

Satan is a liar and the father of lies.  One of his greatest tricks is not getting people to believe he doesn’t exist, rather it’s getting people to be comfortable with the fact that he does.  That said, the opposite side of this coin is the intellectual superiority people feel in reducing God to anecdotal references that are baroque and pompous.  Being comfortable with the idea that he exists as a harmless thought or some convivial costumed character people dress up as at Halloween or for costume parties allows the world to dictate what is truth and what is righteousness in life.

His original great lie was that God is keeping something from us.  This is the lie Satan used to deceive Eve in the Garden of Eden.  That’s the reason it took the time it did for me to be saved.  I couldn’t envision any scenario in which being a Christian wouldn’t cost me what I perceived to be pleasure and good times.  I wouldn’t be able to drink, chase girls and do whatever I was of mind to do.

I couldn’t have been more wrong.  There’s no more rewarding way to live than in obedience to God’s Word, serving Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit.

The people who are engaging in the aberrant and godless behavior may give the appearance of having a good time, but that is a lie.  They are neither happy nor are they having a good time, regardless of what they try to convince the public.

The truth is the enemy of our souls is using them to lead us into destruction by believing we’re missing out from not following after them.

Keep this in mind the next time you convince yourself the lie you told was a harmless prevarication.  Keep this in mind whenever you willfully accept that which God has called sin and an abomination, because the progeny of the evil one make it seem acceptable and fun.  Keep it in mind when you welcome that which God condemns into your house, because it’s about love or because it isn’t hurting anyone or whatever lie you use to convince yourself, God is about love.  Or, you consciously or unconsciously deny the true reality of Satan.

How many times since I’ve become a minister have I had people in some way, shape or form use such reasoning for rejecting God or for attempting to straddle the fence.  People are deceived into believing they are agnostic or an atheist; they adopt some cultish religion that they believe gives them the best of both worlds or they try to convince themselves that using spiritual symbolism makes them “religious.”  But, in reality they’re lost and facing eternal damnation.

Remember, it was the woman who was deceived.  Adam disobeyed.  Let us be neither deceived nor disobedient.  Being a Christian doesn’t mean we won’t face the hardships of this world, but it does mean we will face them with Jesus – not alone.  I cannot imagine living any other way.

Proverbs 6:12-23 KJV
12 A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.

13 He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;

14 Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.

15 Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.

16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

20 My son, keep thy father’s commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

21 Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.

22 When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.

23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
