The Media Is Determined To Sink Herman Cain
People ask me why I keep writing about Herman Cain? Some hypothesize that I’m the chief cheerleader of the “number one Herman Cain fan club.” Whatever! What is true is that I’m a fan of Herman’s, but I am also a friend. But keep in mind that I am also very good friends with a person most conservatives would shave their heads to have run for president. And I haven’t written a peep about the person.
The point that I do not want lost in my “Daily Rants” is that what I am trying to do is: to educate and inform, to point out the hypocrisy and outright dishonesty of the media, and to help you understand their Erebusic machinations. I’m a political pundit and activist – and I can tell you without fear of contradiction that 98 percent of the media is outright dishonest and 99 percent of the media slants its presentation of the news in order to sway opinion. My purpose is to point out that the talking heads and pundits such as myself are 110 percent more disingenuous than the media. Because, they are without moral centers, they speak for theater not from the conviction of their “gut,” the exception being elitist liberals.
Herman Cain is being subjected to a higher standard than any other candidate. You see pundit, talking heads, and program hosts all joining in and making the same negative claims about Herman. I challenge you to spend a full day on the so-called fair and balanced Fox News Channel. Listen very carefully to what is said about Herman – see how close to verbatim each report is about him and listen to how close to verbatim the talking heads and pundits comments are about him. Do you think that’s an accident? They are regurgitating Republican and Democrat Party talking points. Ask yourself what the chances are of nearly 100 percent of those people saying and writing nearly the exact same things verbatim, if they are not all in bed together? Ask yourself why they aren’t going after a proven liar like Obama – who is defecating on the Constitution, as they are going after Herman?
I watched one Fox News program host interview A.B. Stoddard of the Hill.com. The program host did everything but hold up cue cards for her to say what he wanted to hear. He played down the comments of Herman’s wife and family – saying his wife didn’t deny his doing the things he is being smeared about. Of course Stoddard picked right up on it and parroted virtual the very same words. Permit me to digress: usually when a person (in this case Mrs. Cain) says their husband would “have to have a dual personality” and that the things her husband is accused of are “disrespectful of women” and that Herman “totally respects women” – most people understand that to mean she is saying he’s innocent.
But not program host John Scott and not Hill.com’s A.B. Stoddard. In their lexicon that wasn’t an outright denial. It’s the same thing the attack dog media used on South Carolina governor Nikki Haley when she was running for office. They accused her and her husband of having an open marriage, i.e., they permitted one another to sleep with whomever they wanted. Haley responded by saying that she had never been unfaithful to her husband, and the media immediately said, her response was that she had never been unfaithful, not that they didn’t have an open marriage – ergo, she was guilty of having an open marriage. That is emblematic of their cognitive dishonesty.
For the last few days they have been blathering that Herman is down in the polls, that he is loosing his support, that women are fleeing him. They reference polls that prove their points. Since the middle of last week we’ve heard that a Marist poll showed Herman was tanking in the polls, that the luster was off him, etc. A bit of reality here is in order.
First, the Marist poll only showed him down by 4 points to Romney, but they conveniently omitted that not only was it a very small sampling group, comprised of 347 Republicans and Republican leaning Independents. More importantly they omitted, the margin of error was 5.5 percentage points. And even more important, a Republican leaning Independent is just that – how many of them made up the 347 persons polled? But John Scott and Stoddard obviously didn’t see the need to share that information, nor did they see fit to point out that two other reputable polls over the very same time period had Herman ahead.
The CBS News Poll had Herman plus three points over Romney with a slightly larger sampling of 382 registered voters, Politico/GWU/Battleground Poll had a sampling of 436 registered voters had Herman plus two points ahead of Romney. Why aren’t every one of the daytime Fox News program hosts not reporting this information? Do they not think it important?
Another point they omitted was that 60 percent of the people in the CBS Poll said the accusations were not a factor for them. And 30 percent of the people in the same poll said the charges make them less likely to vote for Herman, but that’s a far cry from refusal to vote for him. They made a claim that RealClearPolitics average showed Herman trailing and blathered on as if it were a primordial importance. But they neglected to say the RCP average of combined polls showed Herman trailing by a whooping 0.4 percentage point. Wouldn’t you agree that is a significant thing to know? Why was the viewing audience given all of the data?
You weren’t given all of the information because the media is dishonest and manipulative. They look down on Herman because he is plain spoken and not a graduate of an Ivy League indoctrination center, e.g., Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Berkley. They portray a man and family whose yes is yes and whose no is no. They attack Herman for not being able to recall in explicit detail something that happened 15 years ago. Here’s an exercise for you. Think of something from 15 years ago. Write it down and then each day following read it again and see how much more information you end up adding to it. See to what extent same clarifies your memory in way that partially changes your original memory.
I once had someone ask me if I remembered what we did on our first date. I said yes and proceeded to share the specifics that came immediately to mind, only to find out that there where things I left out.
As I stated, the media is dishonest and manipulative. And think about this – if Fox News (the so-called fair and balanced) is this blatantly dishonest and deliberately misleading – think what the other outright leftist/liberal news channels, programs, and newspapers are doing.
