They Repented Not… by RoseAnn Salanitri
We live in interesting times when many of the birth pangs proceeding the tribulation described by Christ have become evident (Matt. 24:6-13). The signs are all around us but get lost in the media’s propaganda scenarios that attribute global distress to global warming. Let me remind you that the devil can read just as well as we can, and he is very well aware of the prophesized global disasters. Of course he doesn’t want you to connect the dots and repent, so he came up with a feasible explanation that attributes the impending judgments of God to humans. Let’s take a closer look at a few signs that Jesus mentioned including some that can’t be attributed to global warming.
Earthquakes: in Matthew 24:7 Jesus mentions that there will be earthquakes in divers (various) places. According to the US government, there have been 98 recorded earthquakes for 2020 (https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/browse/significant.php).These are the various places listed by the government that experienced a magnitude of 3.2 to 7.7 in the eight months of 2020: Philippines, Mexico, Tanzania, California, Alaska, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, Prince Edward Island, Vanuatu, South Sandwich Islands, Xiang. Chile, Papua New Guinea, Hawaii, China, Idaho, Japan, Jamaica, Oklahoma, So. of the Kermadec Islands, Kermadec Islands, India, Iran, Peru, Nevada, Solomon Islands, Russia, Banda Sea, Greece, Utah, ESE of Falam Myanmar, Honduras, Texas, WSW of Kasina Croatia, Turkey, Cayman Islands, Tennessee, and finally – Kansas.
The purpose in discussing these signs is not to unleash fear but to bring us to repentance where necessary as Rev. 3:19 states. So let’s take a look at few of the other signs of the last days Jesus mentions in Matthew 24:7: pestilences, famines and ethnic conflicts (misleadingly translated as “nations”). I have no need to expound upon the racial conflicts we are now experience, nor do I need to expound upon the pestilence known as COVID, which are obvious. But there is an unknown pestilence that is presently affecting birds that should be taken into consideration as well.
Media sources have reported that unexplained thousands of birds are falling from the sky. Forbes even reports this phenomena as being “apocalyptic”, as well as BBC News, NY Post, and CNN. Here’s some of the statistics of the unexplained dead birds: 200 ducks in Denmark, hundreds of herons in Turkey, thousands of swallows and swifts in Greece, 1000 starlings in Rome, 1000 in Missouri, 650 vultures in Guinea-Bissau, thousands in Indonesia, 100 in Pennsylvania, and hundreds in Spain. While this issue is not specified in Scripture, such an occurrence is something that should be anticipates – especially if the cause turns out to be some kind of a pestilence.
Famine: famines can be caused by many things, and worldwide famines can be caused by a multitude of factors converging within the same time frame. Let’s take a look at recent (2020) factors that may result in a worldwide famine. I’ll start with locusts, known as the world’s most deviating pest. As you may be aware, locusts have descended upon the continent of Africa, wreaking havoc on their already inadequate food supplies before moving to the Middle East. BBC reported this as the worst plague seen in 40 years and Business Insider reported that this swarm is of a “biblical proportions” threatening the food supply of 20,000,000 in East Africa where COVID has already negatively impacted food supplies. Forbes reported that these “apocalyptic pests” hit Asia and South America (Paraguay, Uruguay, and now threatening Brazil) on their northward path. That’s not where the story ends.
Flooding has also negatively impacted major food belts around the world, beginning with a region in China’s Yangtze basin where the Washington Post reported that 63,000,000 were affected and 15,000,000 acres of farmland were destroyed.https://www.npr.org/2020/08/09/899784094/roads-become-rivers-nearly-4-million-chinese-evacuated-or-displaced-from-floodin
India has also experienced historic monsoons this year https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/25/world/asia/india-floods-rhinos.html.
On the North American continent, Mississippi and Tennessee have been hard hit, with Governor Tate Reeves declaring a state of emergency for Mississippi. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2020/02/17/mississippi-flooding-swamps-southern-us/4784911002/ While flooding alone can fulfill prophecies regarding distress in the waters, NOAA predicted that the 2020 hurricane season will include numerous storms now organizing in the Atlantic.
The 2020 weather systems have become so bad that the news media has begun to coin new labels to describe them, like the “Derecho Storms” that traveled on an unusual east/west traverse across America’s corn belt, wiping out crops, homes, trees, and anything that stood in its way.https://www.foxnews.com/us/derecho-midwest-severe-weather-south-dakota-ohio-damaging-wind-gust-damage.Finally, there’s the California fires in Nappa Valley. Of course massive fires aren’t new to California, but the 2020 fire storms are so intrepid that they also deserve a new name: “Firenado”. https://www.foxnews.com/us/fire-tornado-warning-firenado-california-loyalton-fire-nevada-border-tahoe-emergency.
Floods, fires, Derecho Storms, locusts, earthquakes, hurricanes (not to mention tsunamis) all over the earth. I don’t think I need to go on. What I do need to clarify is that God does not do things without a purpose. We know that the world has increased in sinfulness and is shutting God out in “biblical proportions,” and we also know that God is just and that He doesn’t wish that any should perish. Repeated in the Book of Revelation we are told that men (meaning mankind) does not repent of their sins regardless of all the tribulations they are suffering through. As a matter of fact, they actually blaspheme the name of God instead even though He is doing everything He can to bring them to repentance and save their very souls. (See Rev. 3:19, 9:20, 16:9, and 16:11.)
So what are we to do? First, do some soul searching and if there is something that you need to repent of, repent. And repentance doesn’t mean just saying you’re sorry. Remember, John the Baptist told the Pharisees to bring forth the fruit of repentance, which means to not only be sorry for your sins but to go in the opposite direction. Then I suggest you ask God for open doors to witness to as many as you can – especially family, friends, and neighbors – for time is of the essence as this is just the beginning of birth pangs. And I encourage you not to despair for the return of Jesus is knocking at the door – whether it be imminent or within the next decade, Paradise is waiting with its doors wide open to all who believe in Jesus and obey His commands. Lastly, I will leave you with the wise advice from a friend: pray for rapture but prepare for tribulation.
