We are not the world police
Look, I’m a hawk. I believe in a strong, agile, military and peace through strength. I don’t believe in sanctions (they are a waste of time and taxpayer money). I’m not a bully and I don’t subscribe to or believe in bullying – but I do believe that the message on the street should be don’t mess with the U.S., because if you do your time to celebrate your stupidity will be extremely limited.
With that understanding, I have serious concerns about Obama’s growing penchant for unilateral, omniscient, omnipotence to decide who should live and who he should order murdered. Specific to that point, Muammar Qaddafi was an enormously bad person, guilty of atrocious acts of depravity and terrorism. But the time to handle him was before he went off the reservation. He took power in 1969. And true to Jimmy Carter’s mind-numbing and stunning show of weakness, Carter allowed him to force the American Sixth Fleet out of the Gulf of Sidra. People like Qaddafi are like dogs and politicians – you let them mess on the floor and/or get away with improprieties once and they will continue.
I am not minimizing his acts of terror, not least of which was Pan Am Flight 103. But Obama is not “lord,” he cannot get up in the morning, survey the world and decide whose time is up. He has destabilized the region and allowed for the Muslim Brotherhood to gain tremendous footholds in the region to the detriment of Israel, but I get ahead of myself.
The United States is not an international assassination squad, it isn’t “Murder, Inc.” I supported the Bush wars, we were attacked and there were quantified violations by Saddam Hussein. I object to the way those missions have been carried out, because I believe we should have dropped flyers letting them know death and destruction was coming in “X” number of days or hours – and then I would have rained destruction on them. I would have redefined “shock and awe.” Bad guys dead – mission over – troops home. Those countries not liking it, tell the bad guys to attack someone else, and stop taking American taxpayer dollars.
I know that is extreme, but had Carter not been so busy selling out the Shah of Iran and dealt with Qaddafi, we wouldn’t have had Pan Am 103. Those families would still be in tact and the blood of their murders wouldn’t be on Carter’s hands. The families of those lost, would not have to live knowing the Obama administration was involved in the release of the terrorist responsible for the death of their family members, because they were empathetic to the pretense about his failing health.
But, I’m drifting. Obama has invaded Egypt and deposed Hosni Mubarak, he has sent troops to Uganda to rid them of Joseph Kony. Kony is an extraordinarily bad guy, but he is their bad guy. He has done nothing to the United States. I’m not a Ron Pauler, but where does this madness end. Obama is eyeing involvement in Syria, Yemen, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia, but not Iran. At least until, what many believe was the contrived alleged Iranian assassination act, designed to remove Holder from the front page.
I hate to invoke Bush’s name, but look how he was treated for legitimate wars – imagine if he had pulled this nonsense. Obama doesn’t have the right to go around the world murdering those he doesn’t like unless he is prepared to be targeted himself. Obama and Holder claimed to be worried that Islamic terrorists would use “Gitmo” and Military Tribunals as recruiting tools. But, he somehow thinks open homosexuality in the military, indecisiveness, weakness, and cherry-picked attacks against long ruling Middle East rulers, isn’t a tool terrorists will use to recruit.
There aren’t many who are more hawkish than I am, nor are there many more willing to act with extreme prejudice if provoked – but that is a far cry from traveling the globe searching for your next target. Pursuant to that point – we are in dire economic straits. Obama, like a good liberal believes all spending/budget cuts start with our military. Yet he went into Libya without authorization, for what was to be a few days, that turned into six months, hundreds of millions of dollars, depleted military armaments and assets, and we are yet to learn how many lives we lost. We have yet to learn how many billions of taxpayer dollars will be dumped into rebuilding these places, that will result in propping up the new bad guys that follow.
If Congress won’t stop Obama, then we need to. America is not the world police. Our brave military should not sacrifice their lives and limbs at the whim and fancy of Obama.
And for the media, politicians, and sycophants who thought it was wrong for Bush, where are you now?
