‘I Feel the Presence of The Lord’

"I Feel The Presence of The Lord" is a personal collection of devotions intended to encourage the reader to seek and see the Lord in every aspect of their life.
The enemy of our souls would have us subscribe to the mentality of being endlessly busy, and therefore it being excusable to relegate God to a Sunday morning church service, if that. Thus, many in our churches today are powerless Christians and/or Christians in whom faith and fellowship with God is sorely wanting.
I Feel The Presence of The Lord is not just a book to be read as part of our daily devotions. It is a collection of thoughts and instructions to inspire the reader to meditate upon the Lord and His Word.

We Don't Need Government To Tell Us How To Give

April 9, 2012

The problem with Obama and those like him is that they believe their style of government has all the answers and that they are the ones who should run government. Sans their dictatorial control, they have no belief in the people of means to help others. The fallaciousness of that mindset was proven once again this past weekend at the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach Collector Car Auction.

Those Americans Obama likes to criticize gave over $1,535,000 generated by the sale of eight automobiles with every penny of the proceeds going to five different charities. But it was one automobile that was donated for one charity that showed the true character of the American people. The automobile was a “Stars and Stripes – Red, White, and Blue” 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 2 Door Hardtop. The Shelby Mustang had been driven through 48 states and bore the signatures of veterans many of whom were wounded warriors.

When the hammer finally fell, the winning bid of $500,000 belonged to Ronnie Rains of Odessa, Texas, himself a Vietnam veteran. But, it was what he did next that rocked the house, and makes my point–he immediately donated the car back to be sold again, which it was, and it brought in another $450,000. This time the winning bidder was Jack Miller, of Jupiter, Florida. That was $950,000 going to the Wounded Warrior Family Project.

Two men, without the gun of Obama’s government to their heads, gave more to one charity in approximately 40 minutes, than Obama and his wife have given to charities, in aggregate, their entire lives. Which brings me to my next point about Marxists-Leninists like the Obamas.

They are prolific in their condemnation of the so-called rich and free-market capitalism. But they themselves offer nothing of substance to help those who are truly needy, save by constraint taking from those they define as well off, and giving it to those they define as worthy of the fruit of the labor of others.

Unlike Michelle Obama, the majority of Americans were proud of America before her husband was elected. And it is only in the aftermath of her husband’s election that we are ashamed that a country which has overcome so much could now be threatened through the action of a Marxist-Leninist like her husband.

The people at the Barrett-Jackson auction are more emblematic of America than the Obamas and their ilk. We are the ones who quietly have given hundreds of millions to the people of Joplin, Missouri and the other storm ravaged areas of the country. We are the people who belong to the churches that raised money to buy people out of slavery in the very African nations Obama and his minions sing praises to.

We give our money where it is needed and we do it without red tape or coercion and we give to causes worthy of support. None of the more than $1.5 million donated at Palm Beach Barrett-Jackson goes to abortion clinics or homosexual dignity classes. But a 1957 Chevrolet BelAir fetched $55,000 and every penny of it went to the Boy Scouts of America. Obama’s government, on the other hand, has increased attacks against the Boy Scouts because they exemplify good morals, love of country, family, and God.

Rugged individualism and self-determination are disparaged by Obama’s government, because they do not want people to be independent. They want people dependent upon government, because if this is the case, government controls our lives. The reality that they don’t want us to see is the inability of government to do anything but acerbate situations and enslave.

I grew up in a generation that didn’t look to government because my parents taught me that government wasn’t there to help, they were there to control. And they were right. Sadly, many people today believe without government the individual cannot succeed. The Obama socialists are only too happy to reinforce that mindset, while vapid and feckless Republicans are afraid to institute change because they value the opinion of the media more than they value what is best for the nation.

In closing I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Col. John Folsom the founder and president of Wounded Warriors Family Project who donated the car for fund raising. He has been criticized by Obamaites for among other things, his conservative politics and who sarcastically call him a birther. The idea being if they say enough bad about him something will stick. Predictably, Barrett-Jackson came under attack for letting his work be included in their charities.

But Col. Folsom is a Marine (OORAH) and he knows how to fire back. So when he was asked if Obama’s signature was among the hundreds on the Shelby Mustang, he answered, “Nope, but I have a lot of American signatures.” It was a shot from a Marine who isn’t afraid to respond truthfully.
