‘I Feel the Presence of The Lord’

"I Feel The Presence of The Lord" is a personal collection of devotions intended to encourage the reader to seek and see the Lord in every aspect of their life.
The enemy of our souls would have us subscribe to the mentality of being endlessly busy, and therefore it being excusable to relegate God to a Sunday morning church service, if that. Thus, many in our churches today are powerless Christians and/or Christians in whom faith and fellowship with God is sorely wanting.
I Feel The Presence of The Lord is not just a book to be read as part of our daily devotions. It is a collection of thoughts and instructions to inspire the reader to meditate upon the Lord and His Word.

Why Do You Attend? – Sunday Thought For The Day

A month or so ago I sat in an examination room at my new doctor’s office waiting for the nurse/technician to check my vitals and do the usual pre-examination interview.  Upon entering the exam room the young lady doing the information gathering prior to my doctor seeing me, told me I looked a lot like her pastor.

During her portion of my exam, I asked her pastor’s name.  She told me he was new and she couldn’t remember his name.  The church was supposedly local, albeit she was unable to tell me the name of her church or the exact street.  I asked, what denomination her church was, only to be told, she wasn’t sure.  Further questioning led to her revealing that she hadn’t been to the church for almost a year, because of “some trouble” her brother had gotten into that led to she and her boyfriend taking care of her brother’s small children.  However, she did tell me that she planned to start going again.  It was at that point I bluntly asked the question: Why; what for?  She replied, because she knew she needed to go and she felt better when she went.

Before we shake our heads in consternation, i.e., dismay and/or amazement, at this young lady; let’s take a look in our own spiritual examination room.

If you were asked, why do you go to church?  What reason(s) would you list?

My friends, I know exactly why I go to church and I know precisely why my wife and I attend the church we attend.  But, as it pertains to you; it’s just you alone in the Lord’s examination room and the question on the official information form is: Why do you go to church?

Write your answer(s) down and date it.  Then at 6 month intervals, revisit the question and see if your reasons have changed.

No one will see what you have written, but you and the Lord.  Should He tarry and bless you with time, your honest responses will reveal a few things about the nature and depth of your relationship with Jesus.

2 Timothy 2:19-22 (KJV)

19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.

21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.

22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
