Obama Puts Fundraising Above D-Day

Obama celebrated Memorial Day by treating the families and friends of the Vietnam veterans inscribed on The Wall of the Vietnam Memorial with cruel, vindictive spite. As I chronicled, he shut the Memorial down for the day so he could give a 15 minute speech celebrating himself.

Well, for D-Day June 6, Obama decided to hit the beaches of California, while his wife attended a fundraiser in New York (which is code for “she went on another mega-dollar taxpayer-funded shopping spree”). It must be nice to be them. She goes on vacations and travels around the world and fraudulently lists their children as senior staff so we the taxpayers will have to foot the bill for them. He gets to play golf, play leader, and turn the military into a homosexual bath house.

This wasn’t the first year Obama didn’t recognize D-Day and the brave Americans who gave their lives that fateful morning. He refused to mark D-Day with a speech or a written proclamation; just as he did in 2011 and 2010. He did show up and give a short speech in 2009, and, as I recall, there was contention within his camp pursuant to his doing that–with him relenting only because it was the 65th anniversary of D-Day.

What a man. He has no qualms about using the military as scenery for his photo-ops, or when he wants to use the fallen returning back home for a photo-op. I suppose we shouldn’t be surprised, but we shouldn’t forget come November either. Following is a syndicated column I wrote in 2010. Not surprisingly, it is no less relevant than if I had written it this morning.
************

As inconceivable as it may seem, there are today great numbers of Americans who have never heard of the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer. They are ignorant of its historical connection to the events that took place there in the early morning hours of June 6, 1944. Most Americans are unaware that there are 9,386 graves in the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer. Most Americans are unaware that each of those graves faces west, looking across the ocean toward the country those men and women loved, served and died for.

Today, D-Day and the solemn resting place of those who sacrificed their all on the beach that day, is marked with indifference by far too many Americans. It is a disgrace that there are American children who have no idea who Dwight D. Eisenhower was – even though they can recite the lyrics of trash music perfectly.

Even more disgraceful are the parents that celebrate the ignorance of said children – choosing instead to validate their offspring’s ignorance by neither setting nor insisting upon academic standards. When I was in school we learned of the generals and the battles surrounding this decisive and momentous day. Our communities celebrated the day; our families discussed it. It was an inherent part of our citizenship, and we were encouraged to be proud.

Speaking anthropomorphically, those buried at Colleville-sur-Mer must weep, as they look westward toward what was once a different America.

Today, we have a person in the White House who viewed the day in 2009 as one for obligatory acknowledgement and a photo-op. But I digress.

One of the most deeply moving experiences of my life was the privilege I had a few years ago to attend a special dinner recognizing the remaining living veterans from the Normandy Invasion. The dinner consisted of beef stew, cornbread, canned peaches and coffee – the same meal served the night before the invasion. At the conclusion of the evening, the main speaker and I hugged and shared tears. While he has since passed on – the memory of his sacrifice will be with me forever.

The battles and moments such as those on D-Day morning are part of our citizenship. They are what we are to recount for our future generations. They are our response to those who attempt to cast our military history in a denigrating light.

But today the systemic ignorance and misrepresentation of our true history has contributed to an ever-growing and acceptable lack of historical citizenship. It is appalling that the greatest of generations are passing from this life into the oblivion of our historical memory.

In 1969, Gen. Eisenhower, then the former President Eisenhower – made his first and only return to Colleville-sur-Mer after the war. In a voice thick with emotion he said: “…these men came here – British and our allies, and Americans – to storm these beaches for one purpose only, not to gain anything for ourselves, not to fulfill any ambitions that America had for conquest, but just to preserve freedom. … Many thousands of men have died for such ideals as these … but these young boys … were cut off in their prime. … I devoutly hope we will never again have to see such scenes as these. I think and hope, and pray, that humanity will have learned. … We must find some way … to gain an eternal peace for this world.” (“Eisenhower: A Soldier’s Life”; Carlo D’Este, p. 705)

Little could he have known that a day would come when the person who now occupies the “office” he once held, would malign our allies, genuflect to potentates, applaud those who curse his predecessors and refuse to call our enemies what they are for fear of offending them.

Little could he have foreseen the day when schools would recast our historic events and parents would not only support their children’s lack of citizenship, but would defiantly treat same as if it were something to be proud of.

We who remember and honor the sacrifice of those who are first amongst the unselfish acknowledge that the world owes them a debt of gratitude that can never adequately be repaid – even though their sacrifices were not for personal gain.

What we can do is promise to never forget, nor fail to put others in remembrance of, their great sacrifice. We can pledge an unwavering commitment to keep the worship of the true God of heaven – who accompanied them into battle that morning and who stood waiting to welcome the many home to be with Him that day – and the freedom for which they fought – the central values of our nation.

We can pledge to fight ignorance, those who dishonor our God and country and usurpers who would make the freedom for which these men and women sacrificed that morning, [68] years ago, of no effect. (D-Day Heroes Weep For America; WND.com; 6/8/10)

My husband and I were watching a great show on the History Channel yesterday. It was narrated by Gary Sinise, and it was on the Enola Gay, and her brave crew. At the time of filming, only one man, Dutch, was alive from that crew, and in an interview he was saying how high school kids don’t know anything about WWII. He went on to say that one time he was introduced as a veteran of World War Eleven. I suspect they read the II’s behind it incorrectly, but let’s face it, we all know there hasn’t been a World War Eleven (thank heavens!). I don’t know if a teacher or principal the introduction, in which case, I feel they were mocking him. If a student did the introduction, then they need to spend more time in class. World War Eleven?!! Seriously? Our hearts went out to Dutch. After all he and so many others sacrificed for all of us, what a shame!

Let me rephrase that – the picture is of my Dad w/ the little French girl, not Stalin. Dad had nothing good to say about him nor Hitler. After the war ended, he went into the concentration camps to free the prisoners and he hauled displaced Germans back to their hometowns as Hitler’s propaganda men told them to flee their towns because the Americans were coming to kill them. He scooped up a little German girl & told her he came to love her & Jesus loves her, too. That was one of his favorite stories to tell. We enrolled him in the Registry of Remembrances @ the WWII Memorial-he’d have loved that. To all you vets (of any war) ThankYou for keeping us Free & Strong!

Oh Mychal, I just bawled my way thru this column, thinking of my late father who passed around Father’s Day in 1996. He was a veteran of D-Day & Battle of the Bulge. I have his photo albums & swore that as long as I was alive, his exploits wouldn’t die.Back in 1993, during the Schindler’s List phase, I told him then that there were people going around saying that WWII never happened. He shook his head in disgust. That fall, we went to Pittsburgh w/ his Army buddy, Kasey, to a reunion of their battallion(s). What a treat!! Unfortunately, we were too young & dumb to appreciate the living history in the hospitality rooms, laughing & joking like old times. In 2008, my kid sis & I took a bus trip to the WWII Memorial in DC. There were busloads of veterans in line ahead of us-we made it a point to thank them for their service. Bob Dole was there meeting vets who rode in all night from Kansas to see the Memorial & were riding back that night. He posed for a picture w/ us. My advice (and biggest regret that I didn’t do) to you surviving vets, please record your experiences for your families. It’s something they’ll treasure after you’re gone. No surprise the Mistake-in-the-White-House ignored this important milestone in our country’s history. Based on their history, Democrats don’t fight wars to win them, let the enemies win. FDR’s treachery at Yalta caused millions of Eastern Europeans their lives and the ones who survived, lives of misery & despair under dear old ‘Uncle Joe’ Stalin. I have a picture of him holding an adorable little girl in the town of Vitry-le-Francoise. It’d be neat to find our if she’s still alive. He liked it so much, he had it enlarged to a 5×7. We hope one day to visit Normandy & stand where our Dad fought. I so miss him…..

A great many of those who fought and died in Korea, did so in belief they were offering Korea the same chance of France. A great many of those who enlisted, accepted commissions to go to Vietnam, did so because they did not forget, and they believed we were doing the same for the Vietnamese, as we did for France.
A few of us enlisted to go to Vietnam, when congress turned its back, and we all watched no peace as the north simply took over. Most of us knew the history of Americans, flying before the Second World war, in China, to help secure that Nation in freedom, and it is with a bitter taste in my mouth my generation did not undo what congress did.
We thought we were doing the right thing when we landed in Beirut, just like always. Not barely a year later, those we never paid the full measure to, for standing with Hitler, bombed us, and we turned and ran away.
There was no U.N. when we landed, or Normandy would be in German hands. We landed with the purpose and intent to do what the French would not do for themselves, and it was costly. In allowing for the U.N., we allowed all those nations which would not stand against evil to be part and parcel to our considerations, as if they had something to offer.
America was a Nation with principles we followed because we believed in them. We gave our best, our youth, for principle, because we refused to allow evil to prevail.
We now invite evil to reside in our Nation, and we allow people from our gravest enemies to come together to meet and consider their intent for us when they conquer our nation.
Those who refuse to remember history shall be condemned to repeat it. Only God’s principles have kept our Nation as long as it has, as evil as we have allowed ourselves to become. If we fail to right ourselves, will France and England cross the Atlantic and invade, setting us free?
We must act, or we must fall, we are a nation divided between those who believe in the principles which led to our nation, and those who deny those are even principles, or that such things exist. What more could evil wish for, but that it be denied as existing? It has been almost forty years since I’ve been surrounded by so many veterans of war. We are utter fools if we think the wars we wage right now will save us from the war which is coming. We have been pulled into a “honey pot trap”, and we must finish our business and leave, or we will be consumed, and will bring home only the remnants of what we left with. We will find war here, soon enough, we need not seek it out. I pray we choose to make our own decision of our time to leave and bring our troops home. May God help us do what is right, and restore our Nation.

America, We Have a Problem. And the problem isn’t just the Kenyan born, illegal Obummer. He will be gone – sooner or later, but we will be stuck with the shallow thinkers who voted him into office – and they are still out there believing the outright lies our liberal, biased media is feeding them.

It all began when the media caused them to believe that George W. Bush invaded Iraq to revenge his father from Desert Storm. They conveniently forgot all that went on long before we invaded Iraq. The UN inspectors were convinced that Saddam had WMD and he carefully prevented them from finding them on their tours of Iraq.

(By the way, WMD doesn’t always mean nuclear weapons, as many believe.) Chemical weapons were what Saddam had and they were easily trucked into Syria before our troops got there. The thinking was if no WMD were found, Bush would appear the fool and Saddam would be seen as the poor victim. It worked! The American media spooned out that story and the shallow thinking, bottom feeding, liberal Americans ate it up – and they are still eating it up and washing it down with their liberal, socialist Kool-Ade. They are the REAL problem.

Another excellent “Rant” Mychal and so pertinent! We MUST rid ourselves of this sickening parasite along with all the other corruptocrats in both parties. I just read that obama has attended or blessed 122 personal fund raisers since he usurped the throne. That compared to a combined total of 94 for his four immediate predecessors in the White House. What he is and is doing to the country is beyond my poor ability with the language to express adequately.

I wrote and sent the following to my kids on D-Day and urged them to share it with their own kids (my grandkids) but I honestly do not know if any of them did, I hope so. I remind them every anniversary so they may get tired of me but that is just too bad. obama must go, I no longer care how but he MUST go and the sooner the better. He is absolutely stomach turning and an insult to the all those who gave so much menaing to the term “American!” He and ALL who support him must go!

ON THIS DAY, 68 YEARS AGO, 06 JUNE 1944, ON THE COAST OF NORMANDY THEN DRIVING INLAND INTO FRANCE, THOUSANDS OF YOUNG AMERICAN, CANADIAN, AND BRITISH SOLDIERS WERE FIGHTING AND DYING FOR THEIR OWN GENERATION, MY GENERATION, YOUR GENERATION AND YOUR CHILDREN’S GENERATION. BY THE END OF THIS DAY OVER ONE HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND MEN WITH HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF TONS OF SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT HAD BEEN PUT ASHORE AGAINST DEADLY OPPOSITION IN THE INITIAL STAGES OF THE LARGEST AMPHIBIOUS OPERATION EVER ACCOMPLISHED. THEY FOUGHT HARD AGAINST A DETERMINED ENEMY THAT VIOLENTLY TOOK THE LIVES OF OVER THREE THOUSAND AMERICANS ON THAT DAY ALONE. THE PURPOSE OF THE INVASION WAS TO ULTIMATELY RID THE WORLD OF AN AXIS OF EVIL THAT WAS UNPRECEDENTED IN RECORDED HISTORY. AT THAT TIME THE WORLD HAD YET TO LEARN THE FULL EXTENT OF JUST HOW VICIOUSLY DEPRAVED THE LEADERS OF GERMANY, ITALY, AND JAPAN HAD BEEN IN THEIR QUEST TO DOMINATE THE WORLD THAT COST THE LIVES OF SIXTY MILLION PEOPLE AND DEVASTATED MUCH OF THE INHABITED PLANET BEFORE THEY WERE FINALLY CRUSHED AND DEFEATED.

WE MUST ALL DO WHATEVER WE CAN TO ENSURE THAT THE INCREDIBLE COURAGE AND SACRIFICES OF THOSE YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN, MANY NOT YET OUT OF THEIR TEENS, WERE NOT IN VAIN AND ARE NEVER FORGOTTEN. THERE ARE FORCES AT WORK THAT FULLY INTEND TO DOMINATE AND ENSLAVE ALL OF THE PEOPLE RESIDING ON THIS PLANET INCLUDING US YET ONLY COMPLACENCY AND COWARDICE WILL ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN. THE BATTLES RAGING IN THE SEEN AND UNSEEN REALMS FOR HUMAN FREEDOM MUST BE UNRELENTING AND WITHOUT A DEFINITE FORESEEABLE END IF THE HUMAN RACE IS TO SURVIVE AND THRIVE.

AND NO, I AM NOT PARANOID BUT NEITHER IS MY HEAD BURIED IN THE SANDS OF DENIAL BECAUSE THIS IS UNPLEASANT TO CONTEMPLATE. I AM SIMPLY CORRECT AND THE PASSAGE OF NOT MUCH MORE TIME WILL VERIFY IT.

I think Lewis Carroll must have had access to a time machine and traveled to the USA circa 2012 for the idea for his Wonderland. Wrong is right, left is right, down is up. Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups. People who are truly qualified to be President of the USA are weeded out early in the political process, and the truly unqualified are elected. And not just once, but re-elected over and over. Great Rant, Mychal. This does not surpise me. Obama is such a misfit for this great country. D-Day; The fly-over would have taken about a half hour but Obama couldn’t wait to get on the campaign trail or some golf course, not sure where he went. The air space had to be cleared for the ‘president’s’ departure! He played golf with Kasich (Gov of Ohio) and Boehner the bartender and they laughed and had a great old time. Closing down the Vietnam Memorial for seven hours beats them all, though, for his fifteen minute blab to invited guests and campaign cameras. Sickening! What more to expect from a president who is not patriotic? Fourth of July celebration will be another disgrace. It will take a lot of moving vans to clear Michelle’s clothing and purchases out of the White House in January 2013!! I’ll gladly pay for that. Hope she leaves the china, stemware and silver.
