The Cost of Sin Is Always Greater Than The Initial Sin — Sunday Thought

Those given over to that which God condemns would do well to know that you cannot change the laws of God and there are consequences for sin. It is also important to remember that the consequences of sin are never revealed before hand. But they are suffered afterward.

The price for sin is always greater than the sin act, because the initial sin only satisfies temporarily, which results in more sin and greater downfall.

Today a person may fantasize a sexual fantasy, the next step is to explore the fulfillment of that sexual fantasy through internet pornographic sites; what results from there is a life driven by more and more perverse deviancy to satisfy the fantasy.

Marital relationships and homes are destroyed, because what started as a seemingly harmless fantasy has turned into a full-blown obsession; strangers to streetwalkers, to brothels, to experimentation that leads to even more harmful consequences. Today it is one drink to settle our nerves before an important meeting or because it makes one less inhibited on a date or when around strangers. Before long, life has turned into one continuous drinking session. The same with experimenting drugs usage. A person who gets away with stealing something small eventually ends up stealing more often, which results in stealing things more valuable.

There is no sin that we purpose to commit that comes with the warning: “Danger committing this sin will lead you to greater, more frequent and ultimately completely uncontrolled sin acts.” But there is one that tells us: “The wages of sin is death.” (Romans 6:23 KJV)

But, we have a God in heaven who so loved us so much that He sent His only Begotten Son; that whosoever would believe in Him would not only be forgiven for their sins, but through the power of the Holy Spirit can be delivered from our sinful practices.

Yes, we can be forgiven for our sins and we can be delivered from the sinful acts, i.e., drugs, alcohol, homosexuality, adultery, sexual deviancy, lying, ad nauseum; but the consequences of said sinful behavior may cause us to suffer long after, if not the rest of lives. Consequences such as disease(s), health issues, lost of certain privileges, lost of freedom(s), incarceration, damaged/destroyed relationships, and so on.

I’m not saying that God cannot and will not make all things right in our lives when we accept Christ as our Savior and commit our lives unto Him. I’m saying, why wallow around in the sewers of sin when through Christ we can avoid certain destructive behavior(s) altogether?

Scripture tells us that “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23 KJV) But scripture also tells us how to be free from the bondage of sinful behavior(s).

18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
