Abolish Liberal Politicians Not Second Amendment by Robert Socha
I witnessed nothing less than a substantiated miracle this past Saturday, June 18, 2022.
I was at an event where an alarmingly high number of young men, and some women, came armed with shotguns and 100 rounds of 12-gauge shells. They collectively fired over 120,000 rounds over an eight-hour session. Yet, remarkably, there was not one death, not even a minor injury!
Of course, I wrote the above tongue-in-cheek to emphasize a point. Weapons, in this case, shotguns, in the hands of properly taught teenagers (or anybody for that matter) to handle them with respect and awe are no more dangerous than knives or any other tool designed for an intended purpose that ill-conceivable use could end in death. A recent example of ill-intended use is a family in France attacked by knife-wielding youths for “no apparent reason.”[i]
Watching the Michigan State High School Trap League state competition[ii]is highly satisfying. Yet, having spent over 120,000 rounds without incident for sport, I mentioned in a remark to a friend, “is it any wonder why nations hesitate to push us too far and why our enemies never invade us militarily.”
It is worth noting that there are at least 50 of these state competitions[iii]nationwide. So, using this weekend’s tournament as a baseline example and naturally adding all the shots fired without incident this year, it is over 6,000,000! And these tournaments have been going on, 2020 notwithstanding, for decades!
The disaster in Uvalade exposed systematic failures on many levels. It is a horrific consequence of the traditional family’s destruction, ignoring the Judeo-Christian ethic of valuing life, and calling masculinity toxic! Holding the police chief accountable is paramount, especially with the advent of video[iv]showing the fully armed and armored officers in the building over an hour before the perpetrator’s tragic end and learning the classroom’s door wasn’t even locked[v].
I have learned that 10 “Republican” Senators have signed legislation to reward states with tax dollars for implementing Red Flag Laws. These Senators are (thanks to @bennyjohnson):
Roy Blunt – MO
Richard Burr – NC
Rob Portman – OH
Pat Toomey – PA
John Cornyn – TX
Thom Tillis – NC
Bill Cassidy – LA
Susan Collins – ME
Lindsey Graham – SC
Mitt Romney (shocker) – UT
Additionally, these five voted to advance the bill (thanks again @bennyjohnson[vi]):
Lisa Murkowski – AK
Shelley Moore Capito – WV
Joni Ernst – IA
Mitch McConnell (shocker) – KY
Todd Young – IN
I am confident that most of these bills have not been fully read and only serve to erode the fundamental rights of law-abiding Americans. In a tweet, Charlie Kirk (@charliekirk11[vii]) summed it up: “Senate Republicans just signed on to a deal with the Democrats to fund Red Flag Laws all over the country. This is a massive betrayal of the voters’ trust. Unacceptable.” These laws will only serve the criminals and criminalize the innocent. They will be as ineffective as our nation’s war on drugs with a similar, if not exacerbated, deadly effect.
The answer is to return to the path of repentance and find the good way where there is rest for your souls. (Jer 6:16) We must also continue to fight the good fight of faith (1 Tim 6:12), fight for our brethren, our sons and daughters, our wives (Neh 4:14), and train our children in the way they should go (prov 22:6) so they can be a lamp lighting (Matt 5:14-15) up their generation toward righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost (Romans 14:17)!
