Change For America Starts In Home
People claim they want change but is that really true? I am prepared to argue it is not. It is my opinion that people want the country to be different but they do not want to do what is necessary to effect positive change.
Let’s consider the following. How many of the people who spent money on Halloween costumes for their children (and themselves), and who spent hours walking their children door-to-door with a bag in hand asking for candy took their children to church Sunday morning following same? How many of the parents who raved about spending time making costumes with their children take time to read the bible with their children? How many of the parents who posted photos of their children decked out for Halloween on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, ad nauseum, took photos of their children in church and Sunday School?
How many of the parents who rushed home from work and who set aside time to take their children “trick or treating” show the same importance pursuant to the family going to church together Sunday morning?
Children learn to emulate and attach importance to that which they are taught is considered important by their families. If parents affix more importance to Halloweening than they do Sunday School, so will their children. If parents place more importance on going to a Halloween party or hosting a Halloween party than they do going to church –it is a safe bet their children will too.
There is a reason the correct order is “God, Family, and Country.” God is foundational to all order in our lives, indeed in our very being. You can have a moral family without God but you cannot have a righteous family without God.
The order and stability of the family is directly proportionate to the importance placed upon a solid relationship with God. The unity of a family is strengthened by family worship in a solid Christ-centered, God-believing, bible-preaching church.
I have witnessed train wrecks as parents and families whose personal lives were literally and figuratively disasters and whose children were mirrors of same.
People want change but the step to change begins with changing themselves and as parents modeling proper parenting to their children. Children replicate their parents’ behavior, passing it on to their children, and so on. We as parents and our children share our fundamental beliefs with our friends and in so doing a matrix is created that extends itself to become the strength of the fundamental fabric we call community and country.
I have seen this scenario born out time and again. I can point to the churches with strong attachment to their youth and children as the models of that which I state.
If parents place more importance upon Halloween than church it is not surprising that the children will place more importance upon everything but church as well. If parents smoke cigarettes, the child’s first cigarette (if the child decides to attempt smoking), will come from the parents’ pack. Most pharmaceutical drugs, i.e., Oxycodone, Oxycontin, opiates, tranquillizers, etc. come from the medicine cabinet in their parents’ bathroom. Most drinking problems start at home as the children watch their parents imbibe and party. For better or worse little boys learn how to be fathers by watching their own fathers just as for better or worse little girls learn how to be women by watching their mothers.
If we want our children to believe in “God, family, and country” then it is up to us to show, teach, and properly model same within a matrix of a church community that does same so as to present said as a normal and important part of their lives.
But if we as parents do not have our priorities in order how can we expect our children to have their priorities in order? If we give lip service to God, family, country, but in actuality live our lives as models of secular humanism, not only are our children going to model this behavior but their minds are ripe for educational indoctrination of those committed to corrupting the minds of our children, and even worse serve to mold the minds of our children for us.
Change, I submit, just as charity, begins at home by keeping our priorities in the proper order. If that becomes the case again two things will be for sure: A) feckless failures will not be tolerated to run our country; and B) what evil laws permit will not matter because the people will not bow to evil.
