Fast Food News
Sometimes the planets just align themselves in a coherent order that brings systems together. Let me explain.
My colleague at “The Daily Rant” (TDR) wrote a searing commentary today titled “The Main Stream Media.” It was a piercing indictment of that which and those who purport themselves to be trustworthy purveyors of news and information. Dan wrote: “One of the most misused phrases today is “Main Stream Media”, for in my opinion…there is no differentiation, [between liberal and so-called conservative] and that criticism includes O’Reilly and Hannity, who have reduced themselves to hucksters, selling their own variety of shtick, and having wasted opportunities to make a difference in lieu of placating FOX ownership and lining their own pockets with gold. Put another way, journalism today is more a medium and platform for advancing a particular type of propaganda and most often bereft of any type of factual or critical thinking and analysis.” (http://newdailyrant.wpengine.com/the-main-stream-media/)
Moments after reading Dan’s indictment of the so-called media, I received an email from a long-time friend who lives in Bradford, PA. My friend’s email read in part: “[J]ust wanted to touch base with you and hope you and yours are well. I am sorry we could not hook up [back in] Oct. but perhaps we can do so in the future. Also, FYI most people around here are really getting ‘fed up’ with the Bradford Era.”
Many of you will recall that earlier this year I caught Mark Ivancic, managing editor of the Bradford Era newspaper, red-handed, changing my copyrighted, syndicated articles to fit his liberal agenda. I caught Ivancic doing the one thing, that is most frowned upon by credible newspersons, i.e., changing the content of copyrighted, syndicated material to fraudulently make the writer appear to say something embarrassing to the positions they are known to hold. And, while he may have changed my work more than he did anyone else’s, the pernicious little bigot was caught changing other writer’s copyrighted syndicated work as well. (Read: http://newdailyrant.wpengine.com/liberal-managing-editor-changes-copyrighted-material-without-permission/)
Here is my point. The email I received validated Dan’s point. The fact that it arrived the morning that Dan’s article appeared is as I indicated a matter of the planets aligning perfectly. My friend hadn’t read Dan’s article. In fact, my friend was completely unaware of it. But the disgust he echoed on behalf of the people of Bradford says all that needs to be said.
Mark Ivancic is one of the most wretchedly corrupt persons I have ever had the displeasure of coming in contact with, and that takes into account all my years in journalism. And I’m not the only one saying that about him. For raw dishonesty and contemptible ignorance, Ivancic’s character images that of Al Sharpton or Eric Holder.
Which brings me to the heart of what Dan was saying this morning. Dan was warning people that the media is not to be trusted and seldom believed, and that is especially the case of monosomic cretins like Ivancic.
That’s right — you heard me correctly. I’m saying that from Fox News to the Bradford Era beware. If Fox News is supposed to be the pantheon of conservative views, tell me why Jehmu Greene a radical black racist — who hurled racist epithets pursuant to Tucker Carlson’s skin color during live programming — received not one word of chastisement from Fox News or from Megyn Kelly (on whose show the racial insults were spewed)? Why did Hannity betray the efforts of a conservative of color who are trying to hold Al Sharpton accountable? And let me not overlook their providing a platform for those who are committed to undermining true conservative patriots. Fox News has become the major leagues for liberal so-called news persons. Many of the Fox News crew came over from networks like CNN and MSNBC because Fox waved big money at them.
Dan pointed out the transpicuous dishonesty of the Washington Post, but, unlike the Washington Post, less than one year ago the Bradford Era was a distinguished newspaper which was run by a liberal managing editor who did not allow her views to slant the paper. The managing editor of the first newspaper I wrote for was and is today an uber liberal and like the previous managing editor of the Bradford Era, that managing editor reported the news, not a corrupt version they wanted believed.
As I warn pursuant to the shell that masquerades as the Republican Party, it is up to you, the readers, to distinguish the truth and force those providing distortions and outright lies as factual reporting to be held accountable. How, you ask? By being informed. By refusing to purchase newspapers that purposely give you the readers corrupted, biased news. By refusing to watch and/or purchase products sponsoring their show. By bombarding the entities with phone calls and letter objecting to their dishonesty. By paying attention to credible sources who are not reluctant to report the truth and/or call a spade a spade. But sadly, far too many people today want their news as if it were fast food. They want the news presented to them in an entertaining fashion and in a way they do not have to think about it. Accordingly, they get a news that is the equivalent of a high-fat, fast-food cheeseburger.
Let me remind you that you have power. Exercise it. One of my very good friends wrote for a newspaper in Texas. The liberal editor decided they did not like my friend’s conservative opinion and discontinued his column. The Texans in the paper’s circulation area created so much of an outcry that the paper was forced to hire my friend back.
We need to emulate the people of Texas, and maybe not only will we get honest news, but maybe we’ll also be able to raise up more patriots like Ted Cruz.
