It's My Opinion:
I just happened to observe another subliminal trick of the media. Asked whether “oscar-meyer” weiner should step down an on location reporter asked an elderly 80ish looking woman who felt he should step down because he lied, cheated, and brought shame to his wife. The reporter then had a tall, mid 30ish, professional looking man standing right beside her. The man felt weiner shouldn’t step down because, he was a good representative, he had helped a lot of people “around here” in the district, and it was a personal matter. The man said that what weiner had done wasn’t right/proper, but it was personal and did not affect his job performance. The sleight of hand being that the 80ish yr old woman, was out of touch w/ today’s generation, that she was a relic of times past who didn’t understand the real issues. The tall, professional looking man w/ crisp, staccato delivery exemplified an authoritative knowingness that the out of touch elderly woman didn’t understand. It’s media sleight of hand that goes unnoticed but transmits a powerful subliminal message to those who are unaware.
