Let the Rinos Beware
I haven’t had the time to vet all of the results from Tuesday’s primaries, but with that said – I want to point out something I’m guessing you haven’t heard – and then reenforce something I have been saying for many years.
Yesterday incumbent Republican Jean Schimdt, was defeated by Republican Brad Wenstrup. Here’s the great thing about his unseating her. She was a three-term Congresswoman who had the backing of the Republican machine but, “Wenstrup defeated Schmidt without running a single television ad — using only radio, direct mail and automated calls to reach voters. Wenstrup’s campaign manager, law student Brian Shrive, had never worked on a Congressional campaign before, except when he put together yard signs for Portman’s 1992 campaign while in high school…Wenstrup also had some outside help. The Campaign for Primary Accountability, a super PAC based in Texas, spent $49,000 on radio and automated calls blasting Schmidt.” (Rep. Jean Schmidt’s Defeat Serves as Warning; Shira Toeplitz, Amanda Becker; RollCall.com; 3/8/12)
Her defeat should serve as a warning and it should serve as inspiration in our fight to remove RINOS – and replace them with people committed to the Constitution, who understand why we elected them. And judging from the speed Karl Rove has rushed back to FoxNews, trying to spin Romney’s continued under-performance, the GOP is concerned.
Our job must be to replace the dead, rotten wood in Congress, and that specifically includes Republicans. It is not only Democrats who have betrayed us, it’s the likes of McCain, Hatch, Cantor, Boehner, Snowe, Dukakis, and the list goes on. They must go and it’s up to us to oust them.
Wenstrup won in convincing fashion with no money, no big name managers, and get this – without running one television ad. I have been saying for a very long time we can defeat whoever we support. The key is to support them. The Republican hierarchy are not our friends. They are interested in reclaiming power and retention of power. They purpose to set in place those who will ensure same for them. The key words being “set in place for them.” Rove and company torpedoed Herman Cain precisely because he was about to be their absolute worst nightmare – a leader who respected the people and was committed to tearing down the political walls that separate and insulate them from us.
The GOP gives lip service to being about the will of the people, but the truth is they don’t give a rip about us. Which is the reason that the apparatchiks, the media marionettes, and party hierarchy are fawning over Romney. Replacing Obama with Romney will be more of the same with a pachyderm insignia juxtaposed to the hammer and sickle Obama uses. But mark my words – the only thing Romney will do, if Obama were to be struck by lightening or get caught in one of his rumored compromising positions, thus giving Romney the election, is further exacerbate the mess Obama has made.
We the people have the power to vote and we must use it. Wentrub proved it doesn’t take buckets of money, it takes resolve and votes. The spin is that Schmidt didn’t respond until to late to Wentrub’s threat – maybe so maybe no. What counts is that the people spoke and she is history.
Do not underestimate the power of our vote. We must be as tenacious as junk-yard dogs and most importantly, we cannot be afraid to lose if we are to win. We cannot imbibe the silt spewing from the riverbed of party hierarchy who are only interested in our money and vote, as long as we vote the way we are told. Do not buy into the spin that says the good old boy that has been violating our trust term after term must be reelected.
We are adults and we must treat ourselves as such. The party sees us as children to be controlled and to do as we’re told. Those days are over. We cannot succumb to fear and we cannot continue to reelect the same people, expecting them to suddenly change.
Even if Wentrub should turn out to be a disappointment, we can make correction by ousting him. We must straighten our backs and stop cowering in fear of Obama and holding our noses in favor of who the party tells us we must support.
Obama is cheap, communist, coward who talks tough but hasn’t the guts to stand up to real men. We need people willing to stand up to him and call him the liar he is. We need people willing to fight for our country. We need people who realize that our strength comes from God Almighty not the Republican Party. We need people who understand that you and I count. The best way to accomplish that is stop doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. There’s a name for that and the name isn’t victorious.
