Obama Declares Himself Above The Constitution
In my April 19, 2011 syndicated column titled, “When Will Obama Crack In Public,” I wrote: “The coming months of political life are not going to be pleasant for Obama. Possessed by a self-perceived palatine mindset, that in his [purview] places him above criticism, how long before he cracks in public? Can America risk a man with a documented track record of lying and misrepresenting truth as a basic way of life, who is becoming increasingly more contumelious? (http://www.wnd.com/2011/04/288657/)
Well, my friends, I’m prepared to argue that last night’s SOTU by Obama unambiguously provides the answer. And the answer is, he’s cracking right before our eyes. Last night’s exhibition was that of a deeply troubled and dangerously unstable person. He was/is clearly in what can be referred to as a state of diminished capacity as he unconvincingly asserted the state of the union was strong, even though he was aware that 63 percent of adults emphatically believe the country is tanking.
Beyond that, he avoided all statistical details to the economy, promising what during his reign has become a bromide, i.e., he is going to renew his focus on the economy, jobs, wages, and support for the unemployed. In plain English, that verbiage was code for more food stamps, more welfare, more class warfare, fewer jobs, increased minimum wage, and some sort of reconstituted, extended unemployment package.
But the most telling part of his performance — that declares in spectacular clarity just how dangerous and unstable he is — was his steadfast resistance to Constitutional authority. Such contumacy for authority is the behavior of Third World dictators and maniacal despots. It is not the behavior of emotionally stable leaders of Free World countries, especially the United States.
Obama made it clear that he was going to bypass Constitutional and Congressional authority and use Executive Orders to install whatever legislation he personally deemed valid. I perceived this as the barely concealed rage of a person who believes themselves to be pontifical when they are met with repeated resistance from those who, they believe, should be grateful for their presence. He referenced himself 74 times last night, 50 of which times he used “I.” That’s not the demeanor of an emotionally stable individual who understands how the legislative process of our Constitution pursuant to how the separation of powers works. It is the demeanor of one who has openly declared himself a dictator.
I have not, in my lifetime, witnessed a person in his position who is as openly hostile toward and defiantly disrespectful to the very Constitution he is sworn to uphold. Therein is the argument for the theory I advance. Stable, emotionally sound individuals do not carry out their duties with the raw contempt for the legislative process that Obama shows. Stable, emotionally sound individuals do not postulate themselves as emperors.
I wrote: “I believe we are looking at a man who believed that, as president, he would be beyond constraint. With his…minted presidential power he expected the world to be his oyster and America to be his pearl to reconstruct as he saw fit…Obama expected to simply speak [his will] into being, both here and around the world. Instead, he finds himself subjugated on a politically unsustainable island of his making, surrounded by the moral equivalent of myiasis…It seems that much of what he says is instantly disproved and/or shown to be Chicago-style verbal thuggery. He is bruised and angry, as evidenced by his recent comments. The American people oppose his agendas at every turn, and still he promises not to retreat from his positions.” (Is Obama Unraveling; 2/2/10)
Thus, I also argue that last night America saw what amounted to a wounded animal, drowning in his own feces, but defiantly refusing to accept any lifeline that necessitates its leaving the trap it has created and ensnared itself in. That is what makes Obama so dangerous. He is willing to pay any price to punish those who oppose him and to solidify his agenda.
In December of 2010, there were quiet references and discussions being made pursuant to Obama being “Non compos mentis,” which is a legal phrase for “not of sound mind or not mentally competent to conduct one’s affairs.” There were unconfirmed whisperings that allegedly Obama was unstable and was being heavily medicated.
Whether completely factual or not, one thing is certain, and that is Obama’s inflated opinion of himself doesn’t allow for ridicule or rejection which I’m sure has a lot to do with unresolved childhood issues. Any reasonable reading of his life portrays a conflicted young person with emotional issues. And continuing to experience harsh unrelenting contempt and opposition from We the People, I argue, contributes to his dangerous instability. I’m not a psychologist, but it doesn’t take an advanced degree to recognize those tendencies, and I’m certainly not the only one who has observed this about him.
I’m warning all who will listen — what I observed last night were the actions of a person willing to go to any means to accomplish his personal agenda regardless of how disastrous same is for our way of life. Obama doesn’t care about us. He cares about what he wants done.
