I Didn’t Know by RoseAnn Salanitri
Governor Ron DeSantis occupied much of the airwaves when he flew 50 illegal aliens to Martha’s Vineyard. (By the way, they are illegally here, which makes them illegal, and they are foreign nationals, which makes them aliens.) Everyone seemed to have an opinion about whether or not this was clever, a stunt, or just plain mean. For me, it was a bit confusing when a mere 44 hours later these illegals were sent to a nearby military base. Although now many claim that the arrival of these aliens enriched their lives, at the time they protested based on the claim that the island did not have the humanitarian means to care for these people. And therein lies my confusion.
I guess I didn’t know that this well-celebrated vacation spot didn’t have any hotels available for the aliens.
And…I didn’t know that the uber rich living there didn’t have enough funds available to finance their plight and enrich their lives.
I guess I also didn’t know that all the restaurants and food markets on the island couldn’t feed them.
Also, I didn’t know that the clothing stores on the island couldn’t properly take care of their clothing needs.
Forgive me, but I didn’t know that there weren’t any medical services on the island to care for them.
I also didn’t know that those who proclaimed the rights of these people to flood the border/southern states only believed that these rights only extended to the border/southern states.
I also didn’t know that Sanctuary cities weren’t something other than cities where sanctuary for illegals was provided. I guess I still don’t know what a Sanctuary city really is.
I also didn’t know that the liberal bleeding hearts only bled for immigrants who flooded the border states and that fences/gates/walls are only for the security of the rich among us.
I also didn’t know that the pandemic that cost us many rights, didn’t apply to them. While we were criticized for not taking the “shot” and risking the health of our fellow citizens, these illegals were free to go to our schools, shop in our stores, and go anywhere they pleased without the shot.
I also didn’t know that the government would supply us with free cell phones if we claimed to be here illegally.
But then again I didn’t know that criminal illegal aliens would be released back onto the streets, while attendees of the January 6th gathering would be held without bail and without a speedy trial. I guess I should have known this because their illegal status in actuality entitles them to more rights than most citizens enjoy in this once free country.
Apparently, there’s a lot I didn’t know and still don’t know. Mostly, I don’t know why and how us legal citizens have allowed this illogical invasion to continue. But then again, I don’t know how we’ve tolerated the theft of our elections and our country by jackals, globalists, and demons.
