America Has Abandoned Moral Absolutes by Robert Socha
“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious People. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” John Adams[i]
“Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens….And let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion.” George Washington[ii]
We have lost our ability to declare moral absolutes because we have abandoned their foundations locked in the vestiges of religious virtue. Therefore, men take the liberty we hold dearly as permission to behave in unbridled lust and avarice.
Homosexuality, in all its transgender forms, is immoral, hedonistic, and destructive to the nuclear family, which is crucial to preserving civil society.
The unbridled distribution of public funds to individual people and institutions is an immoral counterintuitive measure taking away personal dignity and thrift and breeds slothful dependence on the same.
Murder sanctioned by the highest court in the land that extinguishes a human life before one of their days manifest is an immoral sacrifice of our posterity to the hedonistic pleasure of a debauched society.
Arguing that a person born with x and y chromosomes is on equal footing in competitive sports with a person born with two x chromosomes is an immoral slap in the face of every woman who has held herself to the constant rigor of discipline, practice, and exercise to achieve any modicum of success in that field. It is just as disgraceful to promote a man into positions of authority when his mental delusion has thoroughly clouded his judgment that he changes his name to a feminine form and, in extreme circumstances, self-mutilates. This redefinition of sexual identity is an immoral failure of the basest tenants of society.
Race-baiting rhetoric intent on cultural division and animosity is an immoral stain promulgated by selfish nihilists bent on maintaining their usurped positions of power and authority. It is a corrupt divider bent on undermining the foundations of republicanism and keeping different ethnicities in a constant state of distrust and agitation, ready to explode in confrontation at the slightest provocation.
A plethora of additional examples masquerade as protectors of the public trust but effectually betray the same. For instance, the misconceived Department of Education’s embrace of an ill-advised curriculum has done more debased damage to our posterity than any outside force could ever imagine. Moreover, the institution’s social engineering, in effect since its inception, has created a lethargic populace bent on hating the venerable institutions that have afforded their every comfort and luxury. It is immoral to have national bureaucrats dictate the nation’s direction in education. The Constitution is silent on that matter, and in such cases, the 10th Amendment should suffice to encourage local populations to provide their teaching.
Along the lines of a broken educational system is the improper and immoral interpretation of the First Amendment to allow a man to be publicly vulgar in his language and actions. Suggesting men have such an unhinged right is a cultural descent into an abyss of moral decay where men believe wearing offensive clothing and cursing and demeaning officers of the law is protected speech. Decency and order in the public forum are necessary to a free state’s endurance and a peaceful community. Man’s proclivity to cast aside self-control demands the adoption of ordinances to reign in his debased nature. We then abdicate certain liberties to maintain a civil society (of course, limits to this abdication abound).
Unfortunately, the bedrock of our laws and institutions relies on virtuous, religious, and moral people. The abandonment of religious principles from the highest levels of government has fostered our cultural demise and necessitates the adoption mentioned above. Only a sincere return to a healthy fear of the Lord, personal revival if you will, can aid in a return to virtue and morality in every aspect of society.
