Random Acts Of Love and Kindness – Sunday Thought For The Day

A few weeks ago at church, a member approached me with huge plastic bag covering a large rectangular item. He handed it to me without saying a word, and simply smiled. It was one of his paintings. The gentleman is an artist, and that Sunday morning his kindness placed a smile on my face that beams in my heart every time I look at it in my office.
It was an unsolicited, unsuspected random act of kindness that blessed me beyond measure. We had talked about his painting style and creativity, but never in my wildness imagination did I ever expect him to gift me as he did. He had painted it specifically with me in mind.
Another time I received a special gift of a military cap from a subscriber that had belonged to her late father. A friend was visiting his family members out of town and knowing my fondness for dry bottom shoofly pies upon returning back home, he stopped by our house and said, I brought you something. It was a dry bottom shoofly pie.
Another subscriber whom I have never met sent my wife and I homemade ornaments that we will cherish forever.
These random and unexpected acts of kindness are acts of love from brothers and sisters in Christ that are blessings beyond measure; not just because they are unexpected, but because they are from the heart of fellow believers who just want to share their love and fellowship in Christ with others.
Many times such expressions have just been a surprise phone call or text message from a friend, I’ve not seen in a long time, I think of my alumni brother who will randomly reach out to say hello. I think of a friend who had his cousin contact me with information about a homeopathic medicine that may be of benefit for the wife of one my friends. We are always to pray for one another, but sometimes just a short email or text message letting the person know being prayed for buoys their spirit immeasurably.
I could go on, but here is the point that I am making. Thinking about the small things that we can do to bless others is, I personally believe a way that God uses us to bless others with His love for us. It puts joy in the heart of the recipient and it brings joy to the heart of the giver.
It is also the way we teach our children the fellowship amongst the brethren.
The number of such random acts of love are too many for me to list here. But, I know when given from a heart of love, looking for nothing in return, they are recorded in the book of life with our name on it.

Philippians 4:16-19 (KJV)
16 For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.
17 Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.
18 But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God.
19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
