We Don’t Need Government To Tell Us How To Give

The problem with Obama and those like him is that they believe their style of government has all the answers and that they are the ones who should run government. Sans their dictatorial control, they have no belief in the people of means to help others. The fallaciousness of that mindset was proven once again this past weekend at the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach Collector Car Auction.

Those Americans Obama likes to criticize gave over $1,535,000 generated by the sale of eight automobiles with every penny of the proceeds going to five different charities. But it was one automobile that was donated for one charity that showed the true character of the American people. The automobile was a “Stars and Stripes – Red, White, and Blue” 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 2 Door Hardtop. The Shelby Mustang had been driven through 48 states and bore the signatures of veterans many of whom were wounded warriors.

When the hammer finally fell, the winning bid of $500,000 belonged to Ronnie Rains of Odessa, Texas, himself a Vietnam veteran. But, it was what he did next that rocked the house, and makes my point–he immediately donated the car back to be sold again, which it was, and it brought in another $450,000. This time the winning bidder was Jack Miller, of Jupiter, Florida. That was $950,000 going to the Wounded Warrior Family Project.

Two men, without the gun of Obama’s government to their heads, gave more to one charity in approximately 40 minutes, than Obama and his wife have given to charities, in aggregate, their entire lives. Which brings me to my next point about Marxists-Leninists like the Obamas.

They are prolific in their condemnation of the so-called rich and free-market capitalism. But they themselves offer nothing of substance to help those who are truly needy, save by constraint taking from those they define as well off, and giving it to those they define as worthy of the fruit of the labor of others.

Unlike Michelle Obama, the majority of Americans were proud of America before her husband was elected. And it is only in the aftermath of her husband’s election that we are ashamed that a country which has overcome so much could now be threatened through the action of a Marxist-Leninist like her husband.

The people at the Barrett-Jackson auction are more emblematic of America than the Obamas and their ilk. We are the ones who quietly have given hundreds of millions to the people of Joplin, Missouri and the other storm ravaged areas of the country. We are the people who belong to the churches that raised money to buy people out of slavery in the very African nations Obama and his minions sing praises to.

We give our money where it is needed and we do it without red tape or coercion and we give to causes worthy of support. None of the more than $1.5 million donated at Palm Beach Barrett-Jackson goes to abortion clinics or homosexual dignity classes. But a 1957 Chevrolet BelAir fetched $55,000 and every penny of it went to the Boy Scouts of America. Obama’s government, on the other hand, has increased attacks against the Boy Scouts because they exemplify good morals, love of country, family, and God.

Rugged individualism and self-determination are disparaged by Obama’s government, because they do not want people to be independent. They want people dependent upon government, because if this is the case, government controls our lives. The reality that they don’t want us to see is the inability of government to do anything but acerbate situations and enslave.

I grew up in a generation that didn’t look to government because my parents taught me that government wasn’t there to help, they were there to control. And they were right. Sadly, many people today believe without government the individual cannot succeed. The Obama socialists are only too happy to reinforce that mindset, while vapid and feckless Republicans are afraid to institute change because they value the opinion of the media more than they value what is best for the nation.

In closing I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Col. John Folsom the founder and president of Wounded Warriors Family Project who donated the car for fund raising. He has been criticized by Obamaites for among other things, his conservative politics and who sarcastically call him a birther. The idea being if they say enough bad about him something will stick. Predictably, Barrett-Jackson came under attack for letting his work be included in their charities.

But Col. Folsom is a Marine (OORAH) and he knows how to fire back. So when he was asked if Obama’s signature was among the hundreds on the Shelby Mustang, he answered, “Nope, but I have a lot of American signatures.” It was a shot from a Marine who isn’t afraid to respond truthfully.

Mychal, today is the first time I have read any of your articles, so far I have read two of them. I truly appreciate your love and your patriotism for our AMERICA! We need more men who are strong and unafraid of the evil that comes from our whitehouse….once again, Thank you!

    • Mychal April 11, 2012 at 7:10 pm #

anastasia beaverhouse: thk you…we need people who are willing…and who refuse to be fooled by political swill…

  2. DLB April 10, 2012 at 2:55 pm #

So true Mychal! I think perhaps one problem may be that charitible people give to people with true needs, not lazy people who want a handout. How would those people survive without the help of the government?

    • DLB April 10, 2012 at 3:31 pm #

      charitible = charitable (oops)

    • Mychal April 11, 2012 at 12:01 am #

      dlb: agreed…and it’s not the government…it’s the government w/ our money…

  3. dave buls April 10, 2012 at 12:26 pm #

The government only wants to control people to the extent that they can get money out of us……..nothing more.

    • Mychal April 11, 2012 at 12:07 am #

dave buls: that said they are still about total control…

    • kngplyr April 11, 2012 at 9:09 pm #

      Dave:
You can’t read this and say all they want is our money.

According to columnist Jeffrey T. Kuhner of The Washington Times, through his quietly announced “National Defense Resources Preparedness” Executive Order (EO) signed on March 16th, President Obama placed himself and certain government bureaucrats above the law.

That single EO granted the power “to commandeer all U.S. domestic resources, including food and water, as well as seize all energy and transportation infrastructure inside the borders of the United States.”

Further, the Government can also forcibly draft U.S. citizens into the military and force U.S. citizens to fulfill ‘labor requirements’ for the purposes of ‘national defense.’ There is not even any congressional oversight allowed – only briefings, says Kuhner.

Mr. Kuhner called Obama’s power grab, “stunning in its audacity and a flagrant violation of the Constitution… He now possesses the potential powers of a dictator.”

Frankly this really scares the daylights out of me.

      • Mychal April 11, 2012 at 9:33 pm #

kngplyr: that could be his undoing if he tries to enforce it…

Excellent Rant! [Mixed bag coming up] I watched a segment about Tray…with two pictures. One was the innocent looking teen with his hoody on. The other was an angry Tray.. with scowl on his face and his middle finger extended. I wonder which one Obama thought would look like his son! I think the latter. It is disgusting that prior to the Obama team, Americans were beginning to pull together and starting new businesses, taking care of each other and making sure no one was starving. Soup kitchens were busy, etc. But now, food is not allowed to arrive at these shelters. Just one more Let Big Government take CONTROL of The People. I commend people like Col. Folsom to step up and help Americans to start thinking again. He took matters into his own hands and that is what we all must do. More than one can play the “intimidation and demoralizing” game BUT for the good of the country and not the EVIL. We can intimidate Obama and we can make him feel like the scum of the earth! He won’t like that, will he? If that is not Christian, well, so be it but I’ve prayed to God and God only helps those who will help themselves. Obama needs a wake-up call and if we keep caving to his demands, that makes us the scum. If our R Candidates will not mention the illegal birth certificate (proven) and the fake Selective Service Card and the Social Security number that belonged to a dead CT man (proven), then I will support Jerome Corsi and Sheriff Joe! That will be my contribution. Here in America, In God We Still Trust!

    • Mychal April 11, 2012 at 12:11 am #

marilyn: actually God helped those who could not help themselves and still does…that said pressure on obama condemning his actions will lead him to double down for spite…that will be his undoing…

  5. John McClain April 10, 2012 at 11:43 am #

What bothers me the most is the fact that every single dictator, would be or sitting, intends to be the most powerful man or woman around, and power and money are interchangeable, so when one such as sotero/obama does manage to steal into power, they go from being totally dependent on the manipulating crowd, which funds their rise, and clothes them in proper wear to impress, once they reach the seat, and succeed, they immediately become among those “most rich, most powerful” who they railed against yet would not share one thin dime with anyone, and will fight with lawyers to avoid paying any taxes, that were great for “rich folks”, except us because we just got rich, and haven’t had enough time to really enjoy it. This is not obama or communists, it’s people, and this is no more than choosing to be evil, and not good. You’d think “the smartest man ever to sit in that office” would at least figure out to donate substantial sums, just for p.r. purposes, since he literally rolls in dough, but it is too uncertain, so may sending out a “C” note to a charity will happen and it will hit the headlines. Two truly repugnant people, and we must wonder how their children will turn out. Sometimes the actions of those in the highest places simply make one sit back and consider the evil implied.
    Sincerely,
    John McClain
    Vanceboro, NC

    • Mychal April 11, 2012 at 12:16 am #

john mcclain: ultimately they succumb to the very thing they condemned to gain the position they hold…and such is the case w/every dictator be they communist or other I can think of…I am open to you or someone else telling of one I may have overlooked…

  6. Tony April 10, 2012 at 11:33 am #

… and it just keeps getting more and more unbelievable….check this out …
Each day brings more and more revelations of payoffs and corruption

Do you know the park in NYC that the Wall Street protesters were occupying?
It’s Zuccotti Park. Did you know this park is not owned by
the city of New York? It is owned by Brookfield Properties.

Brookfield Asset Management received an Obama Department of Energy Loan
guarantee of over $160 million within 10 days of approving the take over of the Park.
(for some I’m missing the connection between a city park and the Dept of Energy)

Brookfield is a Canadian companywith assets of $70 billion. Google it! It is all on their website.
So WHY is the US Taxpayer guaranteeing a loan to a VERY wealthy Canadian company?!?!

Well this might help: Who was just hired by Brookfield Properties as an attorney?
    Vice President Joe Biden’s son.

And… Who sits on the board of Brookfield Properties?
    Mayor Bloomberg’s live in girlfriend.

Now, guess what company just received some of the last of the Obama Stimulus $$$$$$$.
    Thaaaaaaaaaaaat’s right, Brookfield Properties.
    Isn’t life great in America!

Now guess what, on a completely unrelated note,
Wisconsin is shaping up to be the swing state in the 2012 presidential elections.
Not Florida. Not Ohio. But Wisconsin.

Now, guess who owns the company that will be tabulating the electronic votes in Wisconsin.
Thaaaaat’s right, the biggest contributor to Obama, the puppeteer George Soros (who believes he should be king of the world)
    Whaaaaat a coincidence!

Now remember what Stalin said. “He who votes does not have the power.
He who counts the votes has the power”

tony: and this surprises you in what way…I’m waiting for the media to get off their butts and investigate how much of the money that went to green companies like solyndra found its way back into obama’s campaign coffers…

      • kngplyr April 11, 2012 at 9:15 pm #

I would be more interested in knowing how much money is going to the media players?????

Awesome rant, Mychal! I, too, have seen that very same kind of generosity at the Barrett-Jackson. (Which, by the way, is my most favorite place to be in January!) Isn’t it amazing how Americans behave, on their very own, when they don’t have Bo & Mo dictating to them? I have often said, when speaking of this administration’s forced “charity:” It’s only charity when *I* decide who to give my money to – otherwise, it’s robbery.

    • Mychal April 11, 2012 at 12:27 am #

30calgal: the bottom line is that obama doesn’t want us giving to charities of our choice…one of his first acts was to cut the deductible amount for charitable giving…he wants to take our money and decide himself who gets the money…which of course would be planned parenthood and unions…and of course bessy the cow would need money for her exotic undies and lavish vacations…

Good morning, Mychal. Do you watch Glen Beck???? We watched his show last night (04/09) and I sat there thinking “Dear God in Heaven, we need you now”. This whole sad thing that happened in Florida with that young man has REALLY started a nasty ball rolling. The New Black Panthers are ready to start a war and they came out and said so….they called out Crackers, Honkies, blonde haired, blue eyed, sometimes brown eyed Caucasians for their attacks….blatant racism, blatant threats. How come MSM, FBI, DOJ or the PRESIDENT haven’t come out and said anything about this??? I truly believe he (Obama) is planning chaos to erupt so he can suspend elections until things “settle” down, which won’t happen for a long time. I believe that is what all of the Occupiers are doing….they are getting set up. This is not going to end well. Also, how in God’s name is Obama ahead of Romney in the polls???? Are the American people truly this blind? Thank you for letting me rant, sir. I feel like I have no one else to turn to :(

    • Roy April 10, 2012 at 9:09 am #

Betrayed….I feel your anguish and sorrow. Obama did not sit in Rev. Wright’s excuse of a church for 20 years and not absorb the hate he espouses against this great country. Well, “we the people” will not stand idly by. They will find a resistance they never considered.

Great rant Mychal. As we all know, BO nor his pastor are christians by the definition derived from the New Testament.

We can rant, we can vote, but we need most to pray not as a last resort but as a first line of defense and commitment fight. Repeating an earlier call I offer you this.
      An American’s Prayer for Forgiveness
Heavenly Father, we as Americans have lost our way, we have forsaken your love and gone our own way into self indulgence through our desire for personal gratification in every aspect of our lives.
We have lost our grip on your eternal truth. We have chosen comfort over compassion; want over worship, pleasure over perseverance, personal satisfaction over eternal salvation, and now entitlements over personal efforts or sacrifice. Many now depend on the words, power, and promises of “Caesar” more than your eternal word.
We want to come home to you as prodigal sons and daughters seeking your mercy upon us and our nation that we may be forgiven for our many offenses marked by our willingness to permit evil intent and false doctrines espoused by our own leaders to creep into our lives and society.
We have not been vigilant, we have hidden our lamps under the bushel, and we have often remained silent as your tenants were judged unworthy by our authorities. As your word and laws were being removed from public buildings and our schools within the sight of our children we mumbled to ourselves rather than witness our faith to those who deny you. We’ve allowed evil to infiltrate our culture one “benefit” or “right” at a time.
We seek through your mercy and forgiveness that within our nation your truth may at last be saved from corruption by those evil forces that care not for your law or love.
We ask through this prayerful petition that for the sake of all the faithful here and in heaven that you might come to us as did the prodigal’s father and lead us back into your graces and grant that our beloved America may yet be returned to the one nation under God it once was and our founders intended it to be.
      Amen

      • Vietvet April 10, 2012 at 10:36 pm #

An excellent prayer Bill, a good example of what really makes America great are people like you that have those beliefs and live their lives accordingly. We are the type of people that do not go around beating our own drum but rest assured I believe we are the true majority.God bless
