‘I Feel the Presence of The Lord’

"I Feel The Presence of The Lord" is a personal collection of devotions intended to encourage the reader to seek and see the Lord in every aspect of their life.
The enemy of our souls would have us subscribe to the mentality of being endlessly busy, and therefore it being excusable to relegate God to a Sunday morning church service, if that. Thus, many in our churches today are powerless Christians and/or Christians in whom faith and fellowship with God is sorely wanting.
I Feel The Presence of The Lord is not just a book to be read as part of our daily devotions. It is a collection of thoughts and instructions to inspire the reader to meditate upon the Lord and His Word.

Fondling The Memories Of Past Sins – Sunday Thought For The Day

January 11, 2025

As true born-again Christians, we often my not be responsible for the untoward thought that seemingly just pops into our minds.  But, we are responsible for how long we allow the untoward thought to linger in our minds.

The enemy of our souls is committed to destroying us and our relationship with our Heavenly Father.  He doesn’t give up and just go away because we have accepted Christ as our Savior.  The most effective way to cause us to stumble, backslide and/or return to the sin(s) we practiced before we came to Christ, is through the mind and the mental fondling of past sinful behavior(s).

We should not be surprised nor despondent when the enemy or his minions attack us through our thought life by reintroducing our past sinful acts and behavior as fond/pleasurable memories.  While this is especially true of sexual sin, it is not limited to remembrance of those acts alone.  The invasion of our minds can take place though dreams or by allowing ourselves to fondle the memories of our past sinful behavior.  The descent back to our old lives can begin when we allow ourselves to fondly remember our past sinful behaviors.

I’m often not responsible for random thoughts that seemingly just pop into my mind.  But, I am responsible for whether or not I allow myself to be comfortable dwelling on these thoughts of my sinful past.

Taking control of our mind and thoughts isn’t easy in the beginning, but the more we resist said attacks, the faster we’re able use the Word of God to dispatch these thoughts.

The very instant I realize my thoughts and mind is under attack is the very instant I waste no time in calling on God to remove the thoughts from my mind.  I ask my Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus to deliver me from the untoward thought or memory.  I quote scripture verses; and before I know it my mind is free of whatever the attacks of thought may have been.  Sometimes the enemy tucks tail and flees quickly, other times it is more of a battle.  But, I refuse to succumb.  Defending my mind and thoughts through prayer and scripture is critical.

I know my mind and thoughts can be areas of weakness.  It is therefore essential for me to strengthen those areas and never relax my guard of them.

Taking every thought captive is critical to the walk of every born-again child of God.  We must realize it is the easiest entry point, next to our eyes, for the enemy, and we must purpose to defend that area of vulnerability.  I tell you, the more committed we are to defending our minds and thoughts, the less susceptible to the fiery darts of the enemy we will be.

Philippians 4:8 (KJV)

8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
